The Arctic is a very icy, snowy, and cold region full of water. It is slippery and soggy, though it can warm up in the summer. Many animals live in the Arctic, including polar bears, caribou, loons, snowy owls, arctic hares, musk oxen, arctic foxes, lemmings, and ptarmigan. Plants like shrubs, saxifrage, and wildflowers can also grow there. The Arctic has freezing temperatures year-round and fossils of extinct mammoths have been found buried there.
