There are two main types of tundra: Arctic and alpine. Arctic tundra is a cold, treeless plain found around the Arctic ocean, covering parts of Lapland, Scandinavia, Alaska, and Canada. Alpine tundra exists at high elevations in mountains. Both experience permafrost and are home to Arctic foxes, caribou, and grey wolves.
