Grant Z discusses the two types of tundras, arctic and alpine. The arctic tundra covers northern regions like Lapland, Siberia, Alaska and Canada, and is a cold, treeless, low-lying plain. Alpine tundra is found at high elevations in mountains. Both are characterized by permafrost that prevents tree growth. Common animals in the arctic tundra include gray wolves, caribou, and arctic foxes.
