This document defines leadership as the ability to influence human thought, emotion, and behavior, starting with oneself. It discusses intentional influence and identifies two key questions for leaders: what results are wanted and what behaviors will achieve those results. The document also outlines six sources of motivation and ability that influence can harness: personal motivation and ability, social/peer motivation and ability, and structural/environmental motivation and ability. It provides strategies for leaders to tap into each of these six sources to achieve their goals of intentional influence.
