2. SOLAR CELL IN
AGRICULTURAL
Solar systems are employed in the
farms to produce the required
electricity that is stored in the
batteries and used when required.
This not only helps in reducing the
power consumption from the
electricity supply but also saves
money for farmers in the long run.

3. WORKING OF
SOLAR CELL
When sunlight strikes a solar cell,
electrons in the silicon are ejected,
which results in the formation of
“holes”—the vacancies left behind
by the escaping electrons. If this
happens in the electric field, the
field will move electrons to the n-
type layer and holes to the p-type
layer.
4. TYPES OF
SOLAR CELL
Solar cells can be divided into three
broad types, crystalline silicon-
based, thin-film solar cells, and a
newer development that is a
mixture of the other two.
5. HOW ARE SOLAR
PANELS MADE?
The solar cells are soldered together, using
metal connectors to link the cells. Solar
panels are made of solar cells integrated
together in a matrix-like structure.
The current standard offering in the
market are:

7. APPLICATIONS:
1. Solar Energy-Powered Water
Pumps.
2. Water and Space Heating.
3. Crop and Grain Drying.
4. Remote Supply of Electricity.
5. Solar-powered cooling systems.
8. ADVANTAGES
1. Saves costs incurred in power
and electricity in the long run.
2. Continuous supply of
uninterrupted power in many cases.
3. Use of renewable energy sources.
4. Availability of power systems
locally, even in remote locations.
5. Easy management of power
usage.
9. DISADVANTAGES
Positioning of solar farms may not be appropriate if they damage
wildlife habitats and ecosystems, or where trees are felled for
installations.
They may also harm food production by taking over space used for
agriculture.
Weather Conditions can heavily affect its efficiency.
The initial cost is very high for a farmer.
Solar energy storage is Expensive.
The maintenance cost is also high.
