TAM A Repository of Reusable
Best Practices
7- TAM is mapped to eTOM & SID domains. A TAM domain is decomposed into application area.
- Each application area is mapped to SID level 1 ABE and eTOM level 2 process
Application Framework - TAM
8
 Application Framework (TAM) is divided into seven (7)
horizontal layers- (in consistent with SID). It is also divided
into four (4) vertical columns— (in consistent with eTOM).
 Each box on the map represents a level 1 application such
as Customer Order Management or Bill Calculation.
 Each application area of the Framework is further
decomposed into lower levels of functionality down to the
application level.
 TAM is mapped to eTOM & SID domains. Each application
area is mapped to SID level 1 ABE and eTOM level 2
process
Layers of Application Framework (TAM)
9
 Integration Framework supports interoperability between applications
defined in TAM via TM Forum interfaces.
 Interfaces are defined in terms of SID’s entities/attributes, & requirements
for interfaces that come from eTOM.
 TM Forum recommends for Application Neutral Architecture (ANA)/
Technology Neutral Architecture (TNA).
 TM Forum recommends for SOA based architecture/solution to achieve
following: reusability & decoupling
 TM Forum recommends to use following for applications development
methodologies: OSS/J, MTOSI etc.

OSS/J- Prospero – mTOP
Prospero:
Prospero is interface standards between BML, SML, NML and EML
Prospero is the TM Forum brand for “solution packs”. CO~OP, IPDR,
mTOP and OSS/J contribute to develop solution packs.
mTOP:
mTOP is TM Forum program to define interface specifications for Resource
and Service management with respect to fulfillment and assurance. It is
comprised of two specification products:
1) MTNM (NMS-EMS, CORBA-based interface) and
2) MTOSI (OS-OS, XML-based interface).
OSS/J and mTOP alignment
OSS through Java™ (OSS/J) is TM Forum program to define:
Java, XML, and Web Services-based APIs.
