Two laseroptical displacement sensors are mounted above and below an insulation panel to measure its thickness profile as it passes along a defined path. The sensors synchronously measure the distance to the top and bottom of the panel, and the thickness is obtained by coupling these values. The non-contact system provides accurate thickness measurements from 0.5-5mm with 30μm accuracy at up to 10 measurements per second. A PC records the measurement log in an automatic profile measurement sequence.
