Two laser triangulation sensors are used to precisely measure the thickness of aluminum strips as they pass through the system. The sensors are mounted on opposite sides of the strip and determine thickness through distance measurements, allowing accurate thickness readings regardless of the strip's exact height. Measurements are taken at 2 per second with a resolution of 1/1000 mm and accuracy of 1/100 mm for thicknesses ranging from 10 mm. Areas outside the thickness tolerance are not coated, allowing the strip to be recycled.
