Quora is a question-and-answer website that aims to share and grow the world's knowledge. It was founded in 2009 by former Facebook employees to connect people who have knowledge to those seeking it, and bring together different perspectives. Users can ask questions on any topic and receive answers from others. Quora helps improve critical thinking and argument skills, and can also serve as a useful information source for journalists researching trending topics or finding subject matter experts.

4. Quora founders think it should be a place to share and grow
the world's knowledge, because they believe a vast amount of
the knowledge that would be valuable to many people is
currently only available to a few.
• To connect the people who
have knowledge to the people
who need it
• To bring together people with
different perspectives
• To empower everyone to
share their knowledge
5. The original of
Quora
Co-founded by two
former Facebook e
mployees in 2009,
Quora was
launched as a
website in 2010
and is first and
foremost a website.
The app was
developed two
years later.
• The original group of users, as it
was focused around Silicon
Valley, were experts on startups
and programming. Gradually,
even more specialized users on
broader fields joined.
• Such as Larry Summers, well
known economist, Jimmy Wales,
Founder Wikipedia, Barack
Obama, Hillary Clinton and
celebrities as well.
(Achilleas Vortselas, 2015)
10. • Quora trains one’s ability of
logical thinking.
• Quora is a place where you can
ask questions you care about
and get answers that are
amazing. When you voice your
opinion at Quora, the debate is
on. You need to train yourself to
organize your language and to
lay out your arguments in a
logical way in order to better
convey your idea.
11. • Other than a news resource,
Quora is also an useful
information searching tool.
• When you search for some
trending topics, trying to make
an in-depth coverage in your
future job, you may find some
really helpful information
provided by resourceful users,
and sometimes you may find the
exact people that you are looking.
12. My own thoughts
Often than not, we find ourselves
burying in excessive news due to
information overload.
Occasionally we want to know more
perspectives towards certain topics.
We want to know things more than
Wikipedia and what news told us.
Quora helps us as young future
journalists to understand why the
world works the way it does, why
people behave the way they do, and
what we can all do to make the world
better.
