2. Paul s Behavior At School Case Study
Paul s behavior at school comes under reproach when his teachers ostensibly organize an
interrogation. Paul confidently answers his teachers criticisms for his demeanor, disdain for their
efforts, and even how he chooses to adorn his outfit with a red carnation, and is eventually
released despite the loathing of his teachers. He joyfully heads to Carnegie Hall for his shift as an
usher. It is here where Paul escapes the monotony of his life; he finds refuge in his livened senses
the sounds of the symphonies, the lights, the feeling of life. Yet he must return to his strangulated
home of Cordelia Street, a place he naturally detested for its homogeneity, and a place that
motivated him to his great escape. After stealing bank notes and checks... Show more content on

seemed to involve all of Paul s senses to add emphasis, both to describe his likes and dislikes.
For example, when portraying Paul s reactions to his mundane home, she wrote, the loathing of
respectable beds, (touch) of a house penetrated by common foods, (smell) colorless mass of every
day existence (sight), and of Paul s trip to New York, she wrote, ... the chatter, the perfumes, the
bewildering medley of color he had, for a moment, the feeling of not being able to stand it. (Sound,

There have been several studies and also challenges on using the computer based electronic voting

they rule over the mortal humans who have never concealed their hatred and contempt of the
Mage. Aurian has been raised as a strong willed and skilled swordsman in an attempt to ensure that
she does not wander to the dark arts of Fire Magic that had killed her father. The novels excellently
combine romance and fantasy in making one comment on another. For instance, the theme of
Miathan the villain s sexual frustration runs throughout the novels as contrasted with the
effervescent love of Forral and Aurian. Furey imagination often goes wild throwing in everything
into the novels from high seas adventure, slave trading, pirates and brutal gladiatorial contests. The

6. The English Industrial Revolution Essay
Textile manufacture changed dramatically in the 1700s. Key inventions such as Hargreaves
spinning jenny (1764), Arkwright s water frame (1769), Crompton s spinning mule (1779) and
Cartwright s power loom (1784) reduced human labour by up to a third. Early models of these
machines tended to be unreliable, and some looms were ruined by machine breakers as a statement
against the replacement of human labour with machines.
The main centres of textile production in England became Greater Manchester, Lancashire and
West Yorkshire. Leeds, for example, boasted around 170 scribbling machines (which prepare wool
for spinning) by 1786; this had unfortunate consequences for workers, who signed a petition in that
year stating that twelve men are thrown out of employ for every single machine used in scribbling .
By 1830, over half of British exports consisted of cotton textiles. People began to favour the ...

brought winter with it. Nat Hocken, the protagonist, who because of a war time disability, had a
pension and did not work full time at the farm (Maurier 1). Nat used to watch the birds on the
cliff s edge during midday. But that fall, he had noticed something different in the birds; there
were more birds than usual and they were restless, maybe because they sensed that the winter was
going to be a hard one. That night, Nat hears a tapping on the window and goes to inquire, and a
bird tries to get inside grazing his knuckles in the process but flies away soon. Sometime later, the

birds attack when the tides turn. As the tapping and the rasping sounds at the window ceases, the
family goes to the farm for supplies. The land birds do not attack, but sit on the trees, waiting and
watching. At the farm, Nat finds the dead bodies of Jim, Mr. and Mrs. Trigg. He collects food,
fuel and all the necessities and leaves for his house with his family. He starts working on the doors,
windows and the chimney preparing for the next attack. When he looks out to the sea, he realizes
that the tide has turned again and the gulls have started rising. He barricades the door and goes

9. The Application Of Non Living Things Could Be Protected...
Introduction:
Non living things could be protected from pathogens by defence chemicals in the form of
disinfectants which are applied thinly on the objects and surfaces. For living things, their defence
from pathogens comes in the form of antibiotics and antiseptics, the former given intravenously or
through oral administration and the latter applied on the skin whatever the indented purpose may
be but does still meet the defence required if applied in the right doses(Lee et al).
Pathogens on the surface are eliminated physically by disinfectants. The mode of operation comes
in the form of chemicals, diluted or undiluted for cleaning and by heating; we have noticed this
process used in the milk preservation through pasteurisation whereby milk is heated at a very high
temperature to kill pathogens. The application of disinfectants varies widely in use for the
different settings. For healthcare cleaning to control and keep out pathogens, ethanol is the number
one choice used to disinfect and sanitise floors, operation surfaces and surfaces touched the most
by people like doors and door closing aids. The liquid based disinfectant normally gets rid of
bacteria if it is in the right dilutions or measurements. There are iodine and chlorine based
disinfectants both targeting pathogens. The latter is generally used in water treatment and food
hygiene and the former widely used for making surgical instruments to render them free from
pathogens, thus sterilisation. Antimicrobial

Oh, to scratch that itch, eh? Well, Montag, take my word for it, I ve had to read a few in my
time, to know what I was about, and the books say nothing! Nothing you can teach or believe. ...
You come away lost. (Bradbury 59) He explains that the words in books do not seem to be of any
value, and that reading them gives the reader not a speck of insight into any aspect of life. In
this society, his words ring true for almost everyone, except those who managed to learn before
the schools shut down and those who yearned to understand what books say. Furthermore,
Beatty s attempts to force Montag into the mold of this society pushes the man to search for
wisdom in the depths of literature. Beatty spurs Montag to delve into the world of literature. He
dares the man to defy him in an almost mocking tone such as here: We d certainly miss you if
you didn t show. (60) Here he implies that if Montag does not show up to burn his book, it will
not be good news for him. Beatty is a strict man always following and enforcing the rules, seldom
deviating from them, and is a man of his word. He knows Montag is hiding something, which he
intuitively guesses is a book, and he promises indirectly that he will be back to burn down the
man s house if he does not bring it in within twenty four hours. Afraid of losing his one chance of
learning, he frantically vows to try to memorize a part of the Bible he stole from the woman who
committed suicide. The mere suggestion of the fire captain

17. The Management Dilemma In The NCR Country Club ( NCRCC )
When it comes to the formulation of the management research questions, there is a need to follow a
hierarchy which determines the direction of acquiring a solution. Important to note is that a
management research seeks to investigate problems and follow a step by step procedure in finding
the respective solutions. On the other hand, managers have the task of providing scientific help in
the decision making process. Therefore, it is imperative for one to take into consideration the
available alternatives available to an organization as solutions. Subsequently, following a
management research questionhierarchy will enable them to conduct an adequate evaluation.
Considering the case of NCR Country Club(NCRCC) the steps involved require us to establish the
management dilemma, the management question, the research question, the investigative question,
the measurement question, and the management decision (Schindler, 2001).
Management Dilemma
The management dilemma focuses on the issues that have resulted in the current problem of an
organization (Hicks, Dattero Galup, 2006). In particular, the common factors surround the
environment and how it has contributed to the problem. A management dilemma in the NCR
Country Club is the matter related to the satisfaction of the members and non members when it
comes to the provision of facilities such as a swimming pool, availability of superior dining services
among other issues (Schindler, 2001). For this reason, the members and

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a leader well known for his bravery wanted equality between people
of all races. In the passage Heading the Call , Diana Childress writes about his experiences when
he was young. These experiences shaped his beliefs and actions as an adult. King learned about
racial inequality when two sons of a white neighborhood storekeeper stopped playing with him.
Whether the father of the two didn t want them to play with him or the two boys were influenced
by the events around them is not known. Either way King knew this was wrong. His mother was
never too subtle when she explained racial discrimination, but always reminded him that he was
as good as anyone . King also experienced a similar problem when he was in high school. After
winning first prize in a speech contest, he represented his school at a statewide competition. As he

22. Ethics And Diversity Research Paper
Two very important aspects of a counseling career are ethics and diversity. To my understanding,
ethics refers to a set of moral codes and policies created to protect a client s rights and privacy and
to promote an ethically competent counselor client atmosphere. Understanding the diversity among
societies and being able to respect and comprehend issues among them creates a positive
therapeutic relationship. Diversity is a broad term referring to different groups and subgroups of
individuals. The purpose of this paper is to explain each term in more detail and explain how they
relate to clinical mental health counseling.

Clinical mental health counselors have the ability to use their resources to gain knowledge about
diverse societies. Examples of gaining knowledge might be consulting with a colleague,
researching articles, attending educational workshops, incorporating specialized training, or other
ways to educate themselves. Another important aspect of an effective counselor is the ability to
understand each client and be able to address issues that arise from cultural differences. As
Newsome and Gladding (2014) explained in chapter 4, clients from a different background may
seek counseling for many reasons. Some of those reasons may be for their own personal growth
and understanding, coping mechanisms to effectively express themselves to family members or
friends, or adjusting to life events or transitions. Many clients from a diverse society manifest
feelings of rejection, loneliness, confusion, and depression. Counselors are able to use strategies

24. Woman Hollering Creek By Sandra Cisneros Analysis
Fierce Woman
Sandra Cisneros said, I have to say that the traditional role is kind of a myth, I think the
traditional Mexican woman is a fierce woman. If I compare this quote with my mother, I would
have to say that Cisneros knew my mother and she was talking about her. Since I have use of
reason, there s not a day that goes by that I don t see my mother fighting for a better future for us.
When my mother was younger she faced really hard situations that made her a better woman and
she was gifted with a blessing. Woman Hollering Creek , is a story that every Mexican woman

25. Personal Narrative Essay On Robert Newsom s Poem
It was a hot summer day in 1850 when I first set eyes on a man named Robert Newsom. I was
sold to him from my former master at just the age of fourteen. Newsom was an older man with
an eerie look upon his face, he looked to be in his sixties. I didn t like him, something about the
way he looked at me made the hair on the back of my neck stand up and the sick feelingin the pit of
my stomach didn t help the situation. My former master and him shook hands and nodded in my
direction as I was escorted away into Newsom s possession. The old man talked to me as I sat
beside him on the way back to his plantation, although I couldn t understand what he was saying
over the loud pitter pattering of my heart beating so fast. I was uncomfortable and scared, I didn
t know what was to become of me, these feelings only escalated as I felt the warm clench of his
hand on my upper thigh, I turned to look up at him with what I can imagine a look of horror just
before he raped me. I had only ever heard stories of women being raped by their masters but never

26. Analyzing The Aesthetics Of Figure Skating
Watching Evgeni Plushenko come to his victory for Russia once again in this Winter Olympics
in Vancouver, I found myself realising why figure skating has always been viewed as a very
feminine sport. They swing their arms dramatically with constant hand motions and exaggerate
their facial expressions. Every single routine is punctuated with these moves. The sparkly and
rhinestone covered costumes often look like they were designed for a children s beauty pageant.
Dick Button, a gold medalist in 1948 and 52, describes viewing them as being trapped in a
windmill in the Metropolitan Opera House costume department. 1 No wonder our society has
always viewed figure skatingas a softer sport.2
The expressive nature and emphasis on aesthetics of figure skating is what makes it such a soft
sport, otherwise described as a sport for girls in this case, girly men. I felt like these men were
constantly trying to be graceful without being feminine yet their costumes did not help prove their
masculinity whatsoever. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Opinions are the median in which people often voice their stances on topics that they are

be received by the audience. In the two works, Shipping Out by David Foster Wallace and From
the Innocents Abroad by Mark Twain, two positive and similar attitudes are expressed toward the
service staff that they encounter on their journeys. David Foster Wallaceand Mark Twain both
construe their praises for service providers in two very differing manners. The two writers
opinions and ideas are received dissimilarly, with Twain s opinions being easier to consider than
Wallace s due to the softer language and phrasing that he uses when presenting his compliments
regarding the service staff. The different ways in which the writers articulate their point of view to

living below your income, manage your time and moneyefficiently, living independently is more

Impact of Endosulfan on Male Reproductive functions a review
ABSTRACT
Endosulfan is an organochlorine insecticide and acaracide used to control a broad range of insect
and arthropod pests on a wide variety of crops in many agrosystems. It can cause acute and chronic
toxicity. Endosulfan is a neurotoxin, haematoxin, genotoxin and nephrotoxin. Toxicity of this
insecticide on reproductive organs is confirmed. So this article reviews experimental and
epidemiological studies of reproductive toxicity of endosulfan in males. The Literature search was
carried on PubMed for the years 1994 2014. Twelve experimental studies and two humanstudies on
Male Reproductive Toxicity induced by endosulfan were identified. Based on the findings, it
suggest that endosulfan can affect the male reproductive system and also that these effects are
likely to be larger if exposure occurs during the developmental phase. Further investigation of
endosulfan as reproductive toxicant is warranted.

The human race has achieved many impossible feats. We have landed on the moon, illuminated
the world with the electric light, and cured illnesses that used kill thousands. In a world where
we look to technology to answer all of life s problems, we are faced with a dilemma. How can our
technology possibly keep up with our modern needs? In the first book of the Neanderthal Parallax,
Hominids, by Robert J. Sawyer, we are transported into a parallel universe. In this unpolluted world
that is populated by Neanderthals, there is a sophisticated computing system, we know as a
quantum computer. As of 2014, quantum computers are still in their infancy, and have been
prophesied since the early 1990s. However, work on building a quantum computer, and creating
algorithms compatible with one, began around the turn of the century. As one of only seven sci fi
writers in the world, and the only Canadian, who has won all three of the top international awards
for science fiction, he is known for the amount of research and probable vision intertwined into the

People s lives were strictly set around a pyramid like system where the royalty was on the top

42. Development of Doctrine in the Christian Church
The very first example of the development of doctrine in the Christian Church was planted in late
antiquity. In Alexandria, a minister named Arius gained notoriety around the mid fourth century
due to public criticism of his bishop, Alexander of Alexandria, and sparked what is now called the
Arian Controversy . Lasting almost sixty years, this doctrinal conflict pervaded the early Christian
Church and necessitated many ecumenical councils, including the Council of Nicaea in 325 which
dealt primarily with Christology. In the legacy of this era, orthodoxy claims Ariusas a heretic. Much
work from this side of the argument lasts, a major one being Athanasius On the Incarnation. In his
apologetic treatise, St. Athanasius, a student under the aforementioned Alexander of Alexandria,
responds to Arian claims that the Son [Jesus], a created being, is demoted equal to man. However,
not much more than three unquestionable letters of Arius remain arguably, completely untainted by
his opponents providing a sense of Arius real thoughts. These are Arius letters to Eusebius of
Nicomedia (318), to Alexander of Alexandria (320), and to Emperor Constantine (327) .
In light of these letters as the primary expositions of Arius doctrine, one sees that Arius sincere
attempts to unite traditional biblical language with radical philosophical ideas and techniques are
understandably overlooked by his opponents. The Arian doctrine of denial of the divine status of
Christ needs to be

just some deep psychological nonsense that one does not need. Clearly that is not the case at all.
It s only logical fact that a positive outcome of life leads to a positive life. For example the person
who acknowledges the glass of water as half full is more positive then the person who views it as
half empty. Therefore, one can theorize ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Tedtalk, Perception Is Everything, by Rory Sutherland. The advertising guru, Sutherland,
explains Our perception is leaky. We can t tell the difference between the quality of the food and
the environment in which we consume it. All of you would have seen this phenomenon if you
have your car is washed or valeted. When you drive away, your car feels as it drives better. And
the reason for this, unless my car valet is mysteriously changing the oil and performing work
which I m not paying him for and are unaware of, is because perception is in any case leaky. So if
you do something that s perceptional bad in one case, you can damage the other. Anyone s
perception can be fixed. Some gentlemen may think after a car wash their cars perform better
but is that really the case? No, the car, after is cleaning, is now perceived as higher quality,
therefore, it performs at a higher level, which then leads to the perception that the quality of life
one lives has evolved. A clean car just makes anyone feel better. With this information one can
know start acknowledging that our perception of ourselves matters because it can be leaky or
fixed. The point is that some of the people out there may not be the clean car therefor one may feel
they don t perform at the same intensity as the cleaner ones. One may have been born in poverty
and therefor

45. Warren s Theory Of A Fetus Essay
According to Warren, a fetus is not considered a person. She argues that there are two senses of
human: the biological sense and the moral sense. She states that a fetus is not a human in the
moral sense of things. She argues that a fetus, whatever stage of its development, satisfies none of
the basic criteria of personhood, and is not enough like a person to be granted even some of the
same rights on the basis of this resemblance. Warren states that a fetuss potential personhood is not
a threat to the moralityof abortionsince the rights of potential people are invariably overridden in
any conflict with the moral rights of actual people. She argues that in order for a person to be a
member of a moral community there are five traits that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Warren has the reader think of a space explorer falling into the hands of an alien culture scientist
who is trying to replicate hundreds of humans by breaking the body of the space explorer and
using his genetic code. If executed correctly, the newly created society would have the potential
to have all of the skills, knowledge, and abilities of the original space explorer classifying them
as a person. These newly created men would be potential persons. However, the space explorer
has the choice to escape taking the potential of these people away as the explorer has his own
right to life that outweighs the right of the potential lives since they are only potential and not
persons, leaving them no right. The space explorer obtains no moral obligation to sacrifice his
life, or stay in captivity for even a day, for the creating of any number of potential people. Warren
wants one to understand that the right to life of one person outweighs the right to life of any
number of potential people. Although a fetus is a potential person, Warren still holds that abortion
is acceptable in all situations. As we saw through Warren s space explorer example, the rights of
the women will always outweigh the right of the fetus because the women is a person and a fetus
is only a potential person. Because the fetus is a potential person, it has no right to life and not

46. Improving Quality And Safety For Patient Safety
The Role of the Leader in Evaluating Data to Improve Quality and Safety
Patient safety is a growing concern among healthcare professionals and the public (Goh, Chan,
Kuziemsky, 2013). As professional nurses, it is our duty to demonstrate improved safety for our
patients, visitors and guests to the facilities in which we serve. It is also our duty to prevent
adverse events and to view unfortunate incidents as learning opportunities to achieve a holistic
view of patient care. By improving patient safety, we accept responsibility for more positive patient
outcomes and a successful hospital stay. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the importance of
data evaluation and interpretation to improve patient quality and safety.

In reviewing the data set provided for this study, a large number of falls occurred between the
hours of 3 a.m. and 7 a.m. This is the time that a phlebotomist typically enters the room for a
morning blood draw or the nurse wakes the patient for a vital sign check. The patients are still in a
daze, and it is possible after the clinical personnel leaves, the patient tries to climb out of bed
unattended, resulting in a fall (Stempniak, 2015). Lee (2015), states You disturb them, wake them
up and they re groggy; then they try to get up and go to the restroom by themselves. They
overestimate their ability to function and walk, resulting in a fall (Stempniak, 2015).
In addition to the falls data, the Walden University case study (2015) reported One full time
employee (FTE) of nursing assistants was moved from the night shift to the evening shift (Data
Dashboard, 2015). This change in staff may contribute to the increased falls seen during the
overnight hours. An extra nursing assistant would be helpful as a variable rounder, someone to
help the nurses and other nursing assistants respond quickly if a patient s call bell is ringing or the
patient is in distress.
Our report shows an increase in fall risks from 7 am to 11 am daily. This time coincides with
patient care, where nursing staff may be attending to one individual patient, often

Some authors consider it to be a type of interactive simulation that teachers use to involve
students and develop their understanding as in role play the participants act the role of a
character in a particular situation (Lean, Moizer, Towler, Abbey, 2006). Also, according to Van
Hasselt et al., (2005), this learning technique helps develop active listening skills, social problem
solving skills and demonstration of emotional empathy. Brummel et al., (2010) states that students
appreciate the role play practice because it catches their attention as well as motivates them to
learn and expand their knowledge about the situation and how to resolve it in different ways. One
of the most popular approaches to role plays in the Role Switch model, which consists in learning
from the inside out as the person takes the role of another person in order to understand their
thoughts and actions. Another tactic is called Almost Real Life in which a person role plays an
experience as close as possible to the real situation in order to apply his skills in a pretended safe
atmosphere. From Kettula and Berghäll (2012) point of view, there are two different approaches
to role play: unstructured/ developmental and structured/method centered. The first approach is
used to deal with justly complex settings and it is related to learning attitudes and motivations while
structured/ method centered focus more in

eighteenth century, a census counted a mere eighteen thousand people (including slaves) (3). New

Native American slave, Sorrow, an orphan, and their two indentured British servants are living. As

Lisa Shiflett says it has been preserved in her journal article, West African food traditions in Virginia
foodways: A historical analysis of origins and survivals in the quote that says, ...this study
concludes that West African food traditions did survive slaveryand have affected foodways across
cultural lines in Virginia... (Shiflett 2). In the time of African Americanslaves, there were two
extremely important aspects of their everyday lives: religion and food. Southern eating and
cooking habits were specifically influenced by African American slaves, who did the majority of
cooking on the old southern plantations (Schiflett 44). There were four main crops on southern
plantations, and these crops were rice, sugar, cotton, and rice. While multiple crops were grown
on the plantations, each plantation chose one cash crop as their main crop. Yet even in a system
of assimilation, where individual needs, desires, and tastes were suppressed, slaves managed to
supplement their food supplies through gardening, gathering, fishing, and hunting (Shiflett 44). In
the novel, many different food choices were presented to the reader. They made rice with
molasses, which embodies two of the major crops at that time. Items such as pork for meat and
corn for a starch were also major aspects of a slave s food choices. Other major food items that
were popular throughout Virginia as seen in the novel were oysters, stews,
