Dementia And Alzheimers
Alzheimer s and Dementia many times fall into the same category of memory loss as many
people think are the same thing. Although it is not completely untrue that both are involved in
the deterioration of mental cognitive tasks, they are not the same. Healthline states that dementia
is a group of symptoms that affect memory in a negative way, and that Alzheimer s is a
progressive disease of the brain that slowly causes impairment in memory and cognitive function
(HealthlineEditorialTeam, n.d.). Due to dementia being a syndrome it does not have a definitive
diagnosis. Older age is shown to be a major risk for the development of alzheimer s it is shown that
15 percent of people with Alzheimer s are ages 65 74, while 44 percent from ages 75 84.... Show

First is Alzheimer s disease which is the most common type of dementia. It is difficulty in
remembering conversations, names, and events and then in later stages of the disease is
impairment in communication, walking, eating and performing day to day tasks. The second
type of dementia is vascular dementia, it is the second most common type of dementia. It is
developed from a stroke in certain areas of the brain that block arteries in the brain. The third
type of dementia is dementia with lewy bodies. It is memory loss and thinking problems similar
to Alzheimer s, but are people with DLB are more likely to have early symptoms than people
with Alzheimer s disease are. The fourth type is Parkinson s disease. It is problems with
movement and is often a progressive dementia like dementia with lewy bodies or Alzheimer s.
The fifth type of dementia is frontotemporal dementia, which has symptoms of changes in
personality, behavior and difficulty with language. The sixth type of dementia is Creutzfeldt
Jakob disease which is a rapidly fatal disorder that impairs memory and coordination and causes
behavior changes, (Types of Dementia, 2016). It is the most common disease that is associated
in humans and mammals as well. CJD is also known as mad cow disease. The seventh type of
dementia is Normal pressure hydrocephalus. It is caused from fluid buildup in the brain. It can
sometimes be corrected with surgical installation of a shunt to drain the excess fluid. The eighth
type of dementia is Huntington s Disease caused by a single defected gene on chromosome 4.
The gene defect causes abnormalities in a brain protein that, over time, lead to worsening
symptoms, (Types of Dementia, 2016). The ninth type of dementia is Wernicke Korsakoff
Syndrome. This is a chronic memory disorder caused by a deficiency of vitamin b 1. It can create
severe memory problems but also leave other parts of the brain such as thinking and social skills
unaffected.

Weather Forecast Research Paper
Throughout this assignment I have learned that there are many things that go into making a
weather forecast. I realized that it takes a lot of research to precisely forecast the high and low
temperatures as well as the weather and surface features for each day. There are a variety of
models to choose from for weatherforecasting, but I have to figure out which one was best based on
my atmospheric situation.
Due to the fact that I live in Missouri I found it difficult to use some of the methods due to the fact
that the weather is constantly changing. I originally thought I could use the Persistence Forecasting
Model, but then I realized that the weather changes to often for it to be the same each day. It
would have been a better option if we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So I began to look up the long term average of weather conditions for each day in order to predict
the weather for the given day. Most of the time it was pretty precise but it could have been better.
Out of the six models I found the Numerical Model to be the best choices when creating a forecast
since it seemed to be the most accurate, due to the fact that it measures uses calculations and takes
into consideration the pressure, temperature, winds, humidity, clouds and precipitation. Out of all
the numerical models I chose to specifically use the North American Mesoscale model (NAM)
because it was specific for my atmospheric situation.
Despite using the models for forecasting, I learned you have to take into consideration the different
surface features including the different types of fronts and pressure systems.
Overall, I have learned that being a meteorologist is not the path for me. The different models of
forecasting are all very different and often hard to read. It takes a lot of time and patients to look
through all the different models and understand them. I am a type of person who likes immediate
answer and rather than having to go through multiple steps to figure out one

ABSTRACT Globalization refers to the process of integration of the world into one huge market. It
provides several things to several people with removal of all trade barriers among countries.
Globalization happens through three channels: trade in goods services, movement of capital and
flow of finance. Globalization in India is generally taken to mean integrating the economy of the
country with the world ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is all the more crucial because even if we leave out the unambiguous supporters of
globalization in its present form those who hold that it is purely beneficial, and the benefits will
trickle down automatically to the poor there are still widely differing conceptions of this process.
Those who either oppose globalization, or are anxious about its potentially detrimental effects on
employment and poverty, encompass a wide political spectrum. The extreme right oppose it from
the standpoint of economic and cultural nationalism, and liberals might deplore the loss of national
sovereignty because it reduces the effectiveness of state intervention to regulate capital and labour,
alleviate poverty and so forth.

Globalization is the process of integrating various economies of the world without creating any
hindrances in the free flow of goods and services, technology, capital and even labour or human
capital. The term globalization has, therefore, four parameters: 1. Reduction of trade barriers to
permit free flow of goods and services among nation states; 2. Creation of environment in which
free flow of capital can take place among nation stated; 3. Creation of environment, permitting free
flow of technology; and 4. Last, but not the least, from the point of view of

World Wrestling Entertainment. The fans of WWE celebrated and attend the different events and

WWE app, and go to the conventions that the WWE superstars will be at. I think the WWE
Universe fits John Swales definition of a discourse communitywhich is a group of people with a
common interest. The group must meet Swales six characteristics of a discourse communitywhich
are common goals, mechanisms of intercommunication, provide information and feedback,

Hamlet Critical Analysis
The soliloquy To Be or Not To Be is a famous piece in the play of Hamlet by W. Shakespeare. The
play, Hamlet, was written around about 1601. This play has been translated into more modern
English countless times and has been retold in theater and cinema enough that almost everyone
now knows this story. This comparison will be of the performances of Benedict Cumberbatchwho
plays a World War II style version of the piece in 2015 and then again in 2017 and 2018 in
encore, as well as the performance of Mel Gibson who plays a more traditional Hamlet in the 1990
movie of Hamlet. The performance by Benedict Cumberbatch was a performance which capitulated
the audienceas well as the emotions of the piece through its simplicity in set design and the detail
and brightness of the costume which works to enhance his performance of the piece. This highly
contrasts the performance of Mel Gibson, who is more dark and secretive. This makes the
performance more cinematic, although it makes it harder to find Gibson, makes the meaning of the
soliloquy darker and more emotive. Due to the excellent performances by both actors it makes it
hard to determine which better captures the character of hamlet, however, through the use of tone
and expression in the performances as well as the simple props and set design Cumberbatch s
performance better capitulates the emotions and meaning of Hamlet. The performance of Benedict
Cumberbatch in this soliloquy is mostly expressive through his voice and the

How did they change and why?
During 1907, 1.25 million immigrants were processed on Ellis Island. As the years passed, the
number of immigrants arriving the USA increased, making some Americans doubt the government

The Differences Between Prairie Style Architecture And...
In this paper I will be discussing and contrasting the differences between Prairie Style architecture
and Hi tech architecture. We will go over the origin, the years it was used, the main components
and characteristics, some of the architects that used these design types, a few real= world
examples, and we will compare them. Prairie School was a late 19th and early 20th century
architectural style, most common to the Midwestern United States. The style is usually marked by
horizontal lines, flat or hipped roofs with broad overhanging eaves, windows grouped in horizontal
bands, integration with the landscape, solid construction, craftsmanship, and discipline in the use of
ornament. Horizontal lines were thought to evoke and relate to the... Show more content on

The designation Prairie is due to the dominant horizontality of the majority of Prairie style buildings
which echoes the wide, flat, treeless expanses of the mid Western United States. The most famous
proponent of the style, Frank Lloyd Wright, promoted an idea of organic architecture , the primary
tenet of which was that a structure should look as if it naturally grew from the site. Wright also felt
that a horizontal orientation was a distinctly American design motif, in that the younger country had
much more open, undeveloped land than found in most older, urbanized European nations.
Hi tech architecture, also known as Structural Expressionism, is a type of Late Modern architectural
style that emerged in the 1970s, incorporating elements of hi tech industry and technology into
building design. Hi tech architecture appeared as revamped modernism, an extension of those
previous ideas helped by even more technological advances. This category serves as a bridge
between modernism and post modernism; however, there remain gray areas as to where one
category ends and the other begins. In the 1980s, hi tech architecture became more difficult to
distinguish from post modern architecture. Some of its themes and ideas were later absorbed into
the style of Neo Futurism art and architectural movement.
Like Brutalism, Structural Expressionist buildings reveal their structure on the outside as well as
the inside, but with visual emphasis placed on the

The Issue Of Abortion On The United States
As Sam Brownback once quoted, Unborn children do not have a voice, but they are young members
of the human family. It is time to look at the unborn child, and recognize that it is really a young
human, who can feel pain and should be treated with care. In America alone, more than half of
pregnancies among American woman are unintended, and about seven out of ten of these 500,000
unintended pregnancies are terminated by abortion each year in America. In today s modern
American culture, many consider an unborn fetusa non life form; however, an unborn fetus
possesses many, if not all, characteristics of life. The issue of abortion in the United States has been
one that has courted controversy and created a public, ethical, and moral division in our American
society and culture. Different opinions and views on this contraceptive subject has brought on
multitudinous moral and ethical arguments. Morally, many people in our modern culture believe
that if the mother of the unborn child has certain mental issues or health issues, it is suitable for
that mother to terminate the life of her unborn child for the better health of the baby and for the
mother herself. However; once an unborn fetus is aborted, the symptoms after an abortion have
long term and lasting impacts on the mother that can worsen the mother s health and mental
stability. After an abortion, many mothers have experienced extreme sadness and anger, periods of
long term depression and regret, and some have

Mental health services in St. Louis have undergone a multitude of changes as stigmas towards
mental health issues have begun to change. Traditionally, mentally ill individuals were thought to

According to Jeb Hensarling, Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, if the 21st

private companies to provide affordable flood insurance rates for homeowners. Republican Sean P.

Duffy claimed that introducing private companies would allow homeowners to select alternative

stated that private flood insurance companies would assist taxpayers in covering the costs resulting
from a flood. Duffy concluded by not only stating that the 21st Century Flood Reform Act is a
bipartisan bill but also reiterated its benefit to homeowners, and that it would directly contribute to
reducing the national debt. The bill has also received support from the American Academy of

Sennachrib Euphemism
The Inquirery of Sennachrib For the Angel of Death spread his wings on the blast, / And

Destruction of Sennachrib by Lord Byron. In the poem, many different types of literary devises are
used. The Destruction of Sennachrib, by Lord Byron, uses heavy amounts of imagery, metaphor,
and euphemism, and this poem is about a battle that took place, and the aftermath of it. This poem
also has a unique thanatopsis; by using more gentle is of describing the dead soldiers.

Byron uses sensory words to paint a morbid image of death and pain from times past. Lord Byron
uses visual imagery to illustrate the dead soldiers from the battle. And there lay the rider

quote is more descriptive than just saying that people died. It paints a surrealistic image of the
field. Instead it painted a picture of pain and suffering and a loss of life that makes the reader feel

Hip Hop, A And Creative Aspect Of Music
Breaking through in the heart of the Bronx, Hip Hop was designed to empower and teach the
youth, while providing them an outlet for creative expression. Developed on five essential pillars,
all working towards: giving African Americans knowledge that they didn t have access to, inspiring
them to read and acquire true knowledge of self, and to understand the role that self has in America
in relation to the actual worth of self. Since the inception of Hip Hop, the genre has evolved through
the times while transcending new depths aligned with its original pillars.
An innovator in a sense, DJ Kool Herc founded Hip Hop by the early 70 s. MC s, DJ s,
breakdancing, graffiti and music encompass the five pillars of Hip Hop. Modern inversions
interpret these pillars in many different ways. Prevalent through all major cities, graffiti evolved
to the murals on the side of buildings, and the creative aspect of music videos. Artists have
visions interpreted in the way they decide to imagine their visuals. Breakdancing has become the
advance dance crazes that sweep the nations. People in Japan are hitting the Nae Nae because of
Hip Hop s mass globalization. MC s are the talk show host and commentators of award shows and
hosts of events and red carpet specials: media. Dispersion of Hip Hop through channels that connect
Blacks across different scopes happens through the media. Modern day DJ s introduce the new
music with sets that keep nightclubs jumping from dawn to dusk. Displaying the

Looking in the Mirror
Glancing at myself in the mirror, I didn t think I would ever regret anything. But that was back
then. Back when I was happy with my life the way it was. Back when I wouldn t have changed a
thing. In retrospect, I realize my logic was flawed. I do have regrets. After all, I am human. Fast
forward a few years into the future and I am watching two people who would later become my
trusted allies. They chatted effortlessly like old pals with plenty to say and not enough time to
say it all. They respected each other like blood brothers who had grown up together. So who was
I to ruin that bond they shared? How could I intrude on a relationship that spanned for years and
will probably span on for more years in the future? I could not ruin their friendship but maybe I
just had to. For my sake. My curiosity towards them scared me but it also fascinated me.
Perhaps, my initial interest was piqued because seeing them interact was like witnessing two
dancers dance in utter unison. To be honest, I saw a part of myself reflected in them. They
reminded me of me to the point where I felt as if I was watching an exact replica of myself.
Somehow, they managed to feed on my needs, transforming into the very people they knew I
would come to respect, come to love even. They were exceptional actors, seemingly appearing to
have perfected their craft over the years. Just when I thoughtI knew them inside out, they turned the
tables on me. At the time I didn t see it coming until finally, I saw

Mesopotamia Vs. Egypt Mesopotamia

Mesopotamia vs. Egypt
Mesopotamia and Egypt were very different because of their geography and world view.
Mesopotamia was often flooded because of their bad geography, but the land around the Nile river
was built well so the Egyptians didn t have to worry about the river flooding as often. The land in
Mesopotamia was often attacked and invaded. Ultimately the geography of Egypt was significantly
better than Mesopotamia because of the benefits of the nile river created a positive world view, a
strong government and a universal religion.
Mesopotamia s land required more work than Egypt s because of their unscheduled flooding.
The land in Mesopotamia was fertile, but was very harsh due to the amount of excess water
coming off the two rivers. The people in Mesopotamia had a bad world view because they were
constantly working and fixing the land and it would get ruined again after the flooding because
it was constant. The Epic of Gilgamesh connects to the flooding of the river because his writings
showed how the Mesopotamians were under the mercy of the gods. It also described how the
Mesopotamians had to keep fixing their land after the unscheduled flooding. The people of
Mesopotamia also had bad world because of the overload of water that caused them to have a
surplus of food. The Nile allowed the Egyptians to work their crops instead of worrying about the
river, unlike the people in Mesopotamia. Due to the flooding of the

Niemi s Argument Analysis
Niemi (2011) makes the argument that there is a greater need for civics classes at an early age in
order to increase political knowledge that students have in the future. The premise is that political
attention and voting are habitual, and promoting these values at a young age may create a type of
inertia that will carry out throughout their lives. In order to be successful, however, I would argue
that simply presenting information about political events and actors would not be sufficient. Neimi
makes the statement earlier that American students are struggling in mathematics and science, but
then contents that simply adding more classes with have a positive effect on civics. Instead of
simply adding more avenues of information for students, it makes more theoretical sense to make
these classes active. Social Learning Theory (Bandura, 1977) would argue that in order to gain
benefits of habitual voting, they would need to rehearse the practice of voting. Given that many
High schoolstudents cannot vote, it would be up to the civics classes to simulate the experience of
voting in a tangible way for the students to receive benefits.... Show more content on

Fishbein (1979) argues that intentions are the strongest predictor of behavior, and issues arise in
changing behavior when behavioral outcomes and actions are conflated. A behavioral outcome is
a grand, general goal. An example would being a good citizen. A behavioral action is a specific
occurrence that contributes to an outcome, but does not completely satisfy the outcome. An
example would be voting as an indicator of being a good citizen. Voting plays a role in being a
good citizen, but it doesn t completely satisfy it. The suggestion by Niemi, then, that providing
more political information in the classroom and motivating students to pursue it outside the
classroom is one that is simply one behavioral action that is being

Inaccuracies In Malcolm X
Malcolm X s significance is still existent till this day. He might have not been able to fully
address his final ideology to the world, but he was able to show people the real meaning of
being a human. He was capable of convincing people of his beliefs regardless of their accuracy
using his great charisma and leadership skills. Adding to that, when he found out that most of his
beliefs were imprecise he did not hesitate to let his followers know about it, ignoring the danger he
was getting into by confessing. Malcolm Xset a very good life example of the human mind and
soul development through the course of his life. The film displayed a very accurate portrayal,
yet there was some minor inaccuracies that were not very debatable. The film s basic plot was
about a black child, Malcolm X, who was taken away from his mother after the murder of his
father to move in with a foster family. He grew up in the white society where he was treated
differently and as an outlier. As a junior high student Malcolm was advised by his teacher to
consider future jobs that were realistic for black people when he told him about his passion for
law. This caused him to feel disheartened and drop out of school a few years later.... Show more

Nevertheless, there were some insignificant inaccuracies in the film. For instance, when
Malcolm was first captured by the policemen, he was not at his house trying to wash his hair as
seen in the movie, but was actually detained while picking up one of his stolen watches from a
repair shop. Besides, Malcolm did not convert to Islam because of John Bembry only, but
because of his brother (Wikipedia, 2015). Likewise, he was not made aware of Elijah Mohamed s
deeds by his wife initially but by Elijah Mohamed s son (YouTube, 2015). These were the most
apparent imprecisions, however they are not so important for they did not fictionalize the real life
of Malcolm in anyway (Biography.com,

Caged Bird Sings
I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings poem by Maya Angelou, is similar to the screenplay The Long
Walk Home by Richard Pearce. They are both similar because in the poem there is a caged bird. I
think the caged birds in the long walk home are Odessa and Miriam.Odessa is a caged bird because
of her race, she doesn t have many privileges as the white people do. One thing she couldn t do
was ride the bus because of the boycott, if they did ride the bus they had to sit in the back no
matter if there was a seat available in the front of the bus.Miriam is also a caged bird because of
her husband. Miriam s husband treats her as if she were a little kid, when he found out that she

The difference in financial management for a for profit and not for profit organization is the
nonprofits goal is the greater good and maintain satisfactory financial condition while for profits
goal is to make profit for the owners or shareholders. Both organizations have business actives as
they make profit but in the profit in for profits are distribute profits to its owners or shareholders.
Nonprofits are owned by the public while for profit organizations are privately owned meaning
Nonprofits can t sell property upon dissolution and must give it to a similar charity when it
closes. Nonprofits don t pay taxes but still required to fill out Form 990EZ while for profit
organizations pay taxes. We must also keep in mind some organizations are both for profit and
public service as they strive to balance the goal of maximizing profits and providing service to the
public like for profit school and hospitals.
The fundamental accounting equation for balance sheet is Assets (resource)= Liabilities (claims by
outsiders) + equity (residual assets owned by owners) or assets (what you own) liabilities (what
you owe)= equity (what you are worth). The reason why a balance sheet is balance because the
two side of the balance sheet is always the same amount as assets his on one side and liabilities and
owner s equity on the other.

Taco Bell Case Summary
Taco Bell was successful in running a media campaign that effectively dealt with the crisis
situation of being sued for misrepresenting the quality of beef they used. However, even though
the Beasley Allen law firm dropped the class action lawsuit, Taco Bell executives were furious
over the very allegation and attempt to tarnish their reputation (Forbes, 2011). In their resentment
towards the frivolous lawsuit, Taco Bell began another ad campaign. The purpose of this
campaign was to get Beasley Allen s law firm to make an apology (Forbes, 2011). Similar to their
initial campaign, Taco Bell took out ads in large papers such as the Wall Street Journal and New

the gun initiating a class action lawsuit (Forbes, 2011). Taking full advantage of media platforms,
the president of Taco Bell posted another video, which reiterates the information in the ads

curious what exactly the other 12% was (Fountain, 2014). Taco Bell ensured the public through
their website that all the ingredients were safe and approved by the FDA (Fountain, 2014). They
also stated the ingredients that make up the remaining 12% may have strange names, but that they
are all common ingredients used in everyday foods purchased at the grocery store (Fountain,
2014). To help the public better understand these ingredients, Taco Bell also provides a brief
description in laymen terms as to what each one is (Fountain, 2014). To help emphasize this point
even more, a chemist from Duke University posted a blog explaining that although these ingredients
may be hard to pronounce, they are in fact actually food and that he himself would have no issue
eating them (Fountain, 2014). Taco Bell has used different media platforms to combat any potential
risks to their franchise and have done this quite well. There

The Ethics Of The Criminal Justice System
As the saying goes, hindsight is 20/20. It is easy to look back on the history of criminal justice
and scoff at the sometimes crude and barbaric methods of correcting criminal behavior. From
speaking to village elders to burning those who were deemed witches, human kind s endeavor to
seek out and punish bad behavior has been littered with what many could consider to be downright
silly behavior. Luckily though, all of that is in the past now, with our society and criminal justice
system moving in a scientific direction more so every single day. But is it really?
While many areas of criminal justice that seek out the truth have been enhanced by our growth in
technology, there still remains one discipline that has been praised by some and ... Show more

It was not until the father of criminology, Cesare Lombrosso attempted to measure blood pressure
to detect lies in the late 1800 s that the modern polygraph s roots can be seen (Lewis Cuppari,
2009). Soon after in the early 1900s, Vittorio Benussi expanded on Lombrosso s idea and included
breathing rate and pulse in the detection of lies. He even had a range of changes that constituted
lies called the Benussi ratio (Grubin Madsen, 2005). The foundation for the modern day polygraph
had been laid, and the controversy was about to begin.
The basic principle behind the physical responses to lying were narrowed down to skin
conductance, blood pressure, heart rate, and respiration (Lewis Cuppari, 2009). In short,
psychologists believed that a lie would cause at least one of these things to change, if only for a
brief moment. John Larson and Leonarde Keele put these variables all together and devised a
machine that would measure and graph all of these things in real time, aptly named the polygraph
(Lewis Cuppari, 2009).
These measurements mean nothing on their own, however. This research paper will dive deeper
into the overall interview process, but the polygraph test itself typically consists of two main types
of questions: control questions and relevant questions. Control questions are basic questions with
easy answers, used to determine a baseline and even to embarrass the subject in order to measure
how they react to such questions. Relevant

between the 3 unsure and 4 agree.
With which store manager will conclude that response is mild agreement or small unsure.
This is not correct interpretation of data. As this argument relies on assumption that psychological
distance between agreement and strong agreement is same as in agreement and unsure. Which is
not correct as the responses can also be distorted on psychological attitudes. To put it in simple

a). Gender Requires one of two responses male or female
From this question, we will get Nominal data. Because it has two possible values male or female.
We can count no. of males and females but both doesn t have their actual values neither we can
compare them to each other i.e. we can t say that male has higher value than female. But we can
say no. of males are less than or greater than no. of females.
b. Fahrenheit thermometers
Collects values representing temperatures in Fahrenheit
Collected values representing temperatures in Fahrenheit(F) is an Interval Data. As in the terms of
temperature there is fixed interval. As difference between 1F and 3F is same as in 22F and 24F.
However, we cannot say that 5F is half than 10F because there is no absolute zero in temperature.
Temperature can increase to infinity as well as decrease to infinity in Fahrenheit.
c. Kelvin thermometers Collects values representing temperatures in Kelvin
Collected values representing temperature in kelvin(k) is a Ratio Data. Because in terms of
kelvin temperature there is fixed intervals and as well as absolute zero. As there is absolute zero
in kelvin temperature we can say that 5 degrees is half hot as compared to 10 degrees.

Differences Between Nature Vs Nurture Essay
Throughout this paper, we will be comparing similarities and differences between our seven
members based on the Big Five Inventory test results to our Zodiac sign attributes. Each
member of Psychology 101 Group 14 was required to take the OCEAN Big Personality Quiz,
and then compare the results to the other members of the team. Then after looking at the results
individual members compared their scores to their Zodiac signs to see if they could identify
similarities. To begin, while looking at our comparatives scores of the OCEAN Big 5
Personality quizzes, we found that a few group members were similar, although there was many
differences in the group too. For example, Gabe and Damon were similar in Openness, with a
score of 41 and 35 respectively. On the other hand, Socoro and Vivianna were outliers in the
group, with Vivianna having a score of 5, and Socoro with a score of 59. We believe while the
scores are closely related, our reasons for being close together in Openness value more shows the
debate between nature vs nurture. Gabe s belief on being in the 35th percentile is how he was
raised throughout his family environment similar to Kaitlyn in the 41st percentile, while Damon s
belief for being in the 41st percentile was more so being born into the statistic rather than recalling

Causes Of The Opium Wars
The Opium Wars were a series of conflicts that eventually led to China s decline through the trade
and abuse of the drug opium. The first of the Opium Wars (1839 42) was fought between China
and Britain, and the second war (1856 1860) involved France as well. In both wars, the foreign
powers triumphed over China, causing havoc, causing the fall of the Qing dynasty. Prior to the
Opium Wars, China was full of rich culture, remarkable goods, and useful inventions. They had
invented gunpowder, kites, and porcelain, all of which were in demand. The Qing dynasty had
believed that they were superior to other countries, and refused to let any foreigners access any

The amount of people using the drug soon increased as well due to the large amount of opium
that soon became available throughout the country. The addictive nature also began to cause
people to want, or even need, more and more of the drug, ensuring that it would be a continuous
market for Britain. The amount of addicts skyrocketed to 12 million at one point, which soon led
to a ban on the drug by Lin Zexu, commissioner of China. Zexu arrested dealers, seized crates of
the drug, and then dumped 2.6 million pounds of it into the ocean. This was another cause for
the opium war, as his actions angered British traders who were not able to get compensation
from the British government. Overall, China s strict trading techniques, in addition to the way
they responded to the problem was one of the main causes of the opium wars. Another main
cause for the opium wars was China s unfair trade superiority. Prior to the opium wars, China was

Beloved Character Analysis
In the book Beloved by Toni Morrison, Paul D. proves to be a complex and significant character
throughout the story. Accordingly, his experiences in his life, changes him to the man he was
destined to be. Although, he wasn t always this way, not until he meets up with Sethe at 124 that he
starts turning into his true self. Morrison conveys his role to be vital by portraying him as a man
with a golden heart, to be supportive to the characters around him, and with the struggle to reach
manhood. To begin with, Paul D. s difficult hardships and story made him into a broken down
man but with a heart of gold. In Sethe s view, Not even trying, he had become the kind of man
who could walk into a house and make the women cry. Because with him, in his presence, they
could. There was something blessed in his manner (11). This indicates that Paul D. wasn t just an
ordinary man, he possessed of a particular quality that most mendidn t, which is a big heart. This
demonstrates Sethe s comfortable state with Paul D. because it allows her to have a trustworthy
individual of her own to fall back on. Another example of Paul D. is, By the time he got to 124
nothing in this world could pry it open (66). Morrison s point is this character s heart is
compared to a tobacco tin due to how little he loves and all the painful memories it consists of.
This is important because he is a free slave, but without a home to stay in. Paul D has put his

Bathhouse Row History
Have you ever wanted to take a bath with other people? Now that might sound very disturbing, but
you would be in separate bath tubs, that is beginning to sound a little better, but you would
probably still want a separate room for privacy. Well you wouldn t get that kind of privacy if you
went to Bathhouse Row in Hot Springs, Arkansas that provide bathingand therapeutic practices.
Bathhouse Row is a line of bathhouses located in Hot Springs National Park. These bathhouses
were included with four parcels to preserve 47 natural hot springs in 1832. The first bathhouses

Hale, and was the first of bathhouses to offer modern conveniences.
The last building and also the most northern building is the Superior, completed in 1916. The
building is two stories, with an L shaped basement containing about 23 rooms and more than
10,000 square feet built of masonry and reinforced concrete. The building was damaged by a
flood in 1923 and remodeling was somewhat done in the 1930s. Whirlpool equipment was installed
in 1962 and air conditioning in 1971. Then the Superior closed in 1983 and the furnishings inside
were sold at an auction.
Currently the Buckstaff, Fordyce, and Administration building are the only buildings open to the
public. The Buckstaff is the only bathhouse that still provides baths and other services. Fordyce
was restored in 1989 and is converted into the park s visitor center. Each bathhouse is set back the
same distance from the sidewalk and has green spaces/garden in front. They each have similar
height, scale, and proportions. The needs for bathhouses are no longer needed since the
advancements in medicine and the high costs of medical care have reduced bathing for physical
therapy. For Hot Springs, Arkansas the residents see the bathhouses as a form of architectural core
for downtown. Bathhouse Row is the largest collection of bathhouses remaining in the United
States of the 20th

Although it is not completely untrue that both are involved in the deterioration of mental cognitive tasks, they are not the same. Healthline states that dementia is a group of symptoms that affect memory in a negative way, and that Alzheimer s is a progressive disease of the brain that slowly causes impairment in memory and cognitive function (HealthlineEditorialTeam, n.d.). • 3. Weather Forecast Research Paper Throughout this assignment I have learned that there are many things that go into making a weather forecast. I realized that it takes a lot of research to precisely forecast the high and low temperatures as well as the weather and surface features for each day. There are a variety of models to choose from for weatherforecasting, but I have to figure out which one was best based on my atmospheric situation. Due to the fact that I live in Missouri I found it difficult to use some of the methods due to the fact that the weather is constantly changing. I originally thought I could use the Persistence Forecasting Model, but then I realized that the weather changes to often for it to be the same each day. It would have been a better option if we ... Most of the time it was pretty precise but it could have been better. Out of the six models I found the Numerical Model to be the best choices when creating a forecast since it seemed to be the most accurate, due to the fact that it measures uses calculations and takes into consideration the pressure, temperature, winds, humidity, clouds and precipitation. Out of all the numerical models I chose to specifically use the North American Mesoscale model (NAM) because it was specific for my atmospheric situation. Despite using the models for forecasting, I learned you have to take into consideration the different surface features including the different types of fronts and pressure systems. Overall, I have learned that being a meteorologist is not the path for me. The different models of forecasting are all very different and often hard to read. It takes a lot of time and patients to look through all the different models and understand them. This play has been translated into more modern English countless times and has been retold in theater and cinema enough that almost everyone now knows this story. This comparison will be of the performances of Benedict Cumberbatchwho plays a World War II style version of the piece in 2015 and then again in 2017 and 2018 in encore, as well as the performance of Mel Gibson who plays a more traditional Hamlet in the 1990 movie of Hamlet. The performance by Benedict Cumberbatch was a performance which capitulated the audienceas well as the emotions of the piece through its simplicity in set design and the detail and brightness of the costume which works to enhance his performance of the piece. This highly contrasts the performance of Mel Gibson, who is more dark and secretive. This makes the performance more cinematic, although it makes it harder to find Gibson, makes the meaning of the soliloquy darker and more emotive. Due to the excellent performances by both actors it makes it hard to determine which better captures the character of hamlet, however, through the use of tone and expression in the performances as well as the simple props and set design Cumberbatch s performance better capitulates the emotions and meaning of Hamlet. We will go over the origin, the years it was used, the main components and characteristics, some of the architects that used these design types, a few real= world examples, and we will compare them. Prairie School was a late 19th and early 20th century architectural style, most common to the Midwestern United States. Horizontal lines were thought to evoke and relate to the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The designation Prairie is due to the dominant horizontality of the majority of Prairie style buildings which echoes the wide, flat, treeless expanses of the mid Western United States. The most famous proponent of the style, Frank Lloyd Wright, promoted an idea of organic architecture , the primary tenet of which was that a structure should look as if it naturally grew from the site. Wright also felt that a horizontal orientation was a distinctly American design motif, in that the younger country had much more open, undeveloped land than found in most older, urbanized European nations. Hi tech architecture, also known as Structural Expressionism, is a type of Late Modern architectural style that emerged in the 1970s, incorporating elements of hi tech industry and technology into building design. Hi tech architecture appeared as revamped modernism, an extension of those previous ideas helped by even more technological advances. This category serves as a bridge between modernism and post modernism; however, there remain gray areas as to where one category ends and the other begins. In the 1980s, hi tech architecture became more difficult to distinguish from post modern architecture. Some of its themes and ideas were later absorbed into the style of Neo Futurism art and architectural movement. Like Brutalism, Structural Expressionist buildings reveal their structure on the outside as well as the inside, but with visual emphasis placed on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is time to look at the unborn child, and recognize that it is really a young human, who can feel pain and should be treated with care. In America alone, more than half of pregnancies among American woman are unintended, and about seven out of ten of these 500,000 unintended pregnancies are terminated by abortion each year in America. In today s modern American culture, many consider an unborn fetusa non life form; however, an unborn fetus possesses many, if not all, characteristics of life. The issue of abortion in the United States has been one that has courted controversy and created a public, ethical, and moral division in our American society and culture. Different opinions and views on this contraceptive subject has brought on multitudinous moral and ethical arguments. Morally, many people in our modern culture believe that if the mother of the unborn child has certain mental issues or health issues, it is suitable for that mother to terminate the life of her unborn child for the better health of the baby and for the mother herself. However; once an unborn fetus is aborted, the symptoms after an abortion have long term and lasting impacts on the mother that can worsen the mother s health and mental stability. Mesopotamia was often flooded because of their bad geography, but the land around the Nile river was built well so the Egyptians didn t have to worry about the river flooding as often. The land in Mesopotamia was often attacked and invaded. Ultimately the geography of Egypt was significantly better than Mesopotamia because of the benefits of the nile river created a positive world view, a strong government and a universal religion. Niemi s Argument Analysis Niemi (2011) makes the argument that there is a greater need for civics classes at an early age in order to increase political knowledge that students have in the future. The premise is that political attention and voting are habitual, and promoting these values at a young age may create a type of inertia that will carry out throughout their lives. In order to be successful, however, I would argue that simply presenting information about political events and actors would not be sufficient. Neimi makes the statement earlier that American students are struggling in mathematics and science, but then contents that simply adding more classes with have a positive effect on civics. Instead of simply adding more avenues of information for students, it makes more theoretical sense to make these classes active. Social Learning Theory (Bandura, 1977) would argue that in order to gain benefits of habitual voting, they would need to rehearse the practice of voting. Given that many High schoolstudents cannot vote, it would be up to the civics classes to simulate the experience of voting in a tangible way for the students to receive benefits.... He might have not been able to fully address his final ideology to the world, but he was able to show people the real meaning of being a human. Adding to that, when he found out that most of his beliefs were imprecise he did not hesitate to let his followers know about it, ignoring the danger he was getting into by confessing. Malcolm Xset a very good life example of the human mind and soul development through the course of his life. The film displayed a very accurate portrayal, yet there was some minor inaccuracies that were not very debatable. The film s basic plot was about a black child, Malcolm X, who was taken away from his mother after the murder of his father to move in with a foster family. He grew up in the white society where he was treated differently and as an outlier. They are both similar because in the poem there is a caged bird. I think the caged birds in the long walk home are Odessa and Miriam.Odessa is a caged bird because of her race, she doesn t have many privileges as the white people do. One thing she couldn t do was ride the bus because of the boycott, if they did ride the bus they had to sit in the back no matter if there was a seat available in the front of the bus.Miriam is also a caged bird because of her husband. However, even though the Beasley Allen law firm dropped the class action lawsuit, Taco Bell executives were furious over the very allegation and attempt to tarnish their reputation (Forbes, 2011). In their resentment towards the frivolous lawsuit, Taco Bell began another ad campaign. The purpose of this campaign was to get Beasley Allen s law firm to make an apology (Forbes, 2011). Taking full advantage of media platforms, the president of Taco Bell posted another video, which reiterates the information in the ads (Forbes, 2011). Because Taco Bell made it very clear they used 88% beef, many people became curious what exactly the other 12% was (Fountain, 2014). It is easy to look back on the history of criminal justice and scoff at the sometimes crude and barbaric methods of correcting criminal behavior. From speaking to village elders to burning those who were deemed witches, human kind s endeavor to seek out and punish bad behavior has been littered with what many could consider to be downright silly behavior. Luckily though, all of that is in the past now, with our society and criminal justice system moving in a scientific direction more so every single day. But is it really? Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was not until the father of criminology, Cesare Lombrosso attempted to measure blood pressure to detect lies in the late 1800 s that the modern polygraph s roots can be seen (Lewis Cuppari, 2009). Soon after in the early 1900s, Vittorio Benussi expanded on Lombrosso s idea and included breathing rate and pulse in the detection of lies. He even had a range of changes that constituted lies called the Benussi ratio (Grubin Madsen, 2005). The foundation for the modern day polygraph had been laid, and the controversy was about to begin. The basic principle behind the physical responses to lying were narrowed down to skin conductance, blood pressure, heart rate, and respiration (Lewis Cuppari, 2009). In short, psychologists believed that a lie would cause at least one of these things to change, if only for a brief moment. John Larson and Leonarde Keele put these variables all together and devised a machine that would measure and graph all of these things in real time, aptly named the polygraph (Lewis Cuppari, 2009). These measurements mean nothing on their own, however. This research paper will dive deeper into the overall interview process, but the polygraph test itself typically consists of two main types of questions: control questions and relevant questions. Control questions are basic questions with easy answers, used to determine a baseline and even to embarrass the subject in order to measure how they react to such questions. Relevant ... The amount of addicts skyrocketed to 12 million at one point, which soon led to a ban on the drug by Lin Zexu, commissioner of China. Zexu arrested dealers, seized crates of the drug, and then dumped 2.6 million pounds of it into the ocean.
