This document summarizes the work of the Mithu Alur Foundation working in rural and tribal communities in Mumbai and Thane District. It outlines the process of mapping and enumerating children to identify those out of school. The findings showed 223 children, including 23 with disabilities, were out of school. Most teachers and principals, and over 50% of the community, were unaware of the Right to Education Act. Challenges included schools being far away, lack of facilities like toilets and ramps, and sparse attendance at anganwadis operating in the open. The vision is to partner with government and corporations to deliver effective social services to the 70% who remain poor and underserved.
