Chinstrap Penguinss Research Paper
This article is about how Chinstrap Penguins are threatened by a volcanic eruption. A volcano in
the northern part of the island of an archipelago in the South Atlantic Ocean has been ejecting ash
and smoke since March. Of course that threatens all of the animals living there which is the
Penguins, and its the largest colony of Penguins in the world according to new studies. These
penguins can also not leave the island due to the volcano, and also can not lay or hatch eggs on the
island, which will do a lot of damage and will be very hard to follow. Zavodovski Island is home
to over one million Chinstrap Penguins, but humans do live there. None of the main effects will be
known until the Penguins return to the island, in which 10 to 15 percent

Melancholia Depression
Melancholia: Depression on Film Melancholia is defined as a mental condition characterized by
extreme depression, bodily complaints, and often hallucinations and delusions. Lars von Trier
wrote the film during his own episode of severe depression, and noted the tendency of the
depressed to remain peaceful during catastrophic events. To reflect this detached sense of reality,
Lars Von Trier rejected his rigidly realistic Dogma 95 principles for a dreamlike aesthetic that
represents the depressed mind of the main character Justine (played by Kirsten Dunst). He splits the
film into two parts with each part named after one of the main characters. Part one is named after
Justine and takes place during the night of her wedding reception. Justine... Show more content on

The most graphic allusion is when Justine, in her wedding dress and with a bouquet of flowers,
is floating lifeless down a stream of water. This is a recreation of John Everett Millais painting
entitled Ophelia. Ophelia, a character from Shakespeare s Hamlet, is perhaps the most famous
depressive in all of literature. Justine embodies this image of being trapped and detached from
loved ones, through her emotionless and dead eyed expressions. Justine and Claire both try to
escape during the film but they both fail; therefore, they are literally trapped on the mansion
property, which gives an increasing sense of hopelessness and dread. Richard Wagner s song,
Prelude to Triston and Isolde, is played as a haunting refrain throughout the film. The song mixes
depression with beauty and desire, like how the beautiful aesthetic of the film mixes with the
hopelessness on screen. I appreciate that Lars von Trier rejects end of the world movie clichГ©s,
and instead shows something deeper and more poetic. The end of the world is experienced through
the broken Justine and Claire, and not shown through massive destructions of major cities and mass
hysteria. The end of the world is a fiercely intimate and unescaping event, instead of a time filled
with last minute hook ups and hedonistic bucket lists. It is interesting to watch how Justine and
Claire react to the knowledge of their impending

The voltage for registering a bit of 1 on Ethernet can be as low as 2.5 volts or even 1 volt. Why is
this so low when the capacity for transmitting electricity on the copper wire is so high? Use your
textbook and Internet research to support your answer.
Because the voltage used to transmit data needs only be high enough for the receiver to detect it.
Making the voltage higher would make the receiver electronics more difficult.

How To Get Away With Murder Character Analysis
ABC s new breakout show How to Get Away With Murder is a new legal drama series that
features a fierce female lead played by Viola Davis. The show is an amazing and suspenseful

to Get Away with Murder revolves around a criminal law professor of a prestigious university in
Pennsylvania, Annalise Keating, and her select group of students as they get tangled in a murder

involve her relationship with her husband. He was barely able to get into law school, being
accepted off the school s wait list, but he later proves to be a natural born leader in law and

Essay On Puppy Mill
When you are seeing the adorable puppy in the window of a pet store, flea market or even on the
internet you should just ask yourself where exactly are these puppies coming from? Roughly 90
percent of puppies in pet stores get them from puppy mills. What exactly is a puppy mill? Puppy
mills are commercial breeding facilities that mass produce dogs for sale through pet stores, or
directly to consumers through classifies ads or the internet. It is important to know that, in
many cases, puppy mills are not illegal. In most states, a breeding kennel can legally keep
dozens, even hundreds, of dogs in cages for their entire lives, as longs as the dogs are given the
basics of food, water, and shelter. The federal Animal Welfare Act passed in 1966, requires
breeders who have more than three breeding female dogs and sell puppies to pet stores or puppy
brokers to be licensed and inspected by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. In most cases, the
standards that breeders are required to meet by law are extremely minimal. In puppy mills,
female dogs are bred about twice a year until they can no longer produce puppies. Mothers and
their litters often suffer from malnutrition, exposure, and a lack of adequate veterinary care. Most
of them are bred far too early, before it is safe. Not only is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

For my interview report, I chose to analyze the Safety Team for a utility company called
American Electric Power (AEP). For my interview, I had the opportunity to question leader Mr.
Leon Lilly who is a DSS (District Systems Supervisor) within the company and Tom Smith who is
a Line Crew Supervisor. Considered company leadership and one of the leading individuals on this
team, Mr. Lilly is considered middle management, the liaison between corporate leaders and the
employees who are conducting the work. Labeled a working supervisor, Mr. Smith actively works
on the line crew, supervising and managing day to day activities.
At the beginning of the interview as Mr. Lilly approached me with an intriguing professional
personality. A very nice looking, physical fit man with his salt and pepper hair, Mr. Lilly s shirt
was neatly ironed and tucked in and his boots were shined. Obviously, this man was prior military
displayed not only by his appearance but also in his confidence. On the other hand, Mr. Smith had
the opposite impression with his dirty boots, wrinkled shirt and goofy/joking personality. His
unprofessional appearance and personality caught me off guard since this interview was being
conducted at 830 AM.
After sitting down across from them at a large conference table, I began to inquire on the purpose
and mission of the team. The team consists of an environment where individuals from management

This case involves the suspect being arrested for driving on a suspended driver s license in
violation of CVC 14601.1 (a) Suspended Driver s License and an outstanding arrest warrant.
INVESTIGATION:
On 05 18 17 at 0107 hours, I was working uniformed patrol in police unit #16. I was traveling west
on Walnut Street approaching Madison Avenue. I observed a tan 4 door Kia Amanti also
traveling west on Walnut Street, directly in front of me. I saw that the vehicle did not have a rear
license plate in violation of CVC 5200(a) No License Plate.
I activated my overhead emergency lights/siren and conducted a traffic stop on Walnut Street
east of Madison Avenue. I contacted the driver, later identified as Suspect Emajanae Ayashi
Whitebear and asked for her driver s license, registration and proof of insurance. Whitebear gave
me a California ID card instead of a California driver s license. Whitebear stated her California
driver s license was recently reinstated from a prior suspension. Whitebear did not have proof of
her driver s license being reinstated. Officer Sprague arrived on scene and assisted me. ... Show

Examples Of Classical And Operant Conditioning
Using different method, strategies and conditions in teaching has become very often and vital
because of its benefits and easiness. Behaviorism is also a condition that a lot of teachers use
while teaching. Behaviorism is the observing and studying of the external behavior of a living
being, and behavior is the response of an organism to a stimuli. Under behaviorism, there will be
may other ways that could be used in teaching. And in this essay I will be talking about Classical

actions that will have an impact on the things that happens before the stimuli is released. In this,

when they got some questions wrong from an exam. This way the students would try their best to
score good grades in exam to avoid writing something repeatedly for like fifty times. But in my
opinion, it is much better to use verbal reinforce on students because it will really motivate the
student when they are praised a lot and the students who hears the praises would want to be praised

Trail Of Tears Dbq Documents
The Trail of Tears was a controversial yet pivotal event in American history. The 116 day forced

detriments of the march. The political and military arguments for the removal of CherokeeIndians
from Georgia were that it would prevent attacks on the U.S., and that it was required by the Treaty

Modern Dance Is Never Static Essay
Dance is never static.
Even if it has specific sub genres with set guidelines and expected characteristics like other forms
of visual and performing arts, dancers have the will to choose not follow them as often and as
strictly if they please. They re allowed the freedom of expression as well as the freedom to even
create new forms of dance.
In fact, this freedom to create is why modern dance came to be. It decided to stem off of classical
ballet then completely break off from its roots and become its own sub genre over the course of
decades. Modern has many similarities to ballet, such as how turns are conducted or how arm
strength is utilized, but they are considered to be enemies by dancers.
I would like to explain more about how these two opponents (modern and ballet) are rather more
like sisters, as well as how modern dance has evolved in the past century and how this change
threatens traditional modern form. I will go into the origins of modern dance and what cultural
phenomenons it is derived from. Furthermore, I would like to debunk its stereotypes and clarify just
what modern dance is.
Modern dance s enemy ballet establishes visual and physical restrictions on day one of class.
Dancers have specific positions of the feet, arms, and hands to follow and hold. They must have
pointed feet when turning or on relevГ© (pushing your weight onto the balls of your feet to lift

The most significant number of outdoor mural art in the United States is just minutes away from

70 vibrantly colored murals adorn the support pylons of the freeway overpass. The walls pay
tribute to the history of the surrounding Mexican American and immigrant community called Barrio
Logan. In the 1960s, the community was further separated by the formation of the 5 Freeway and

The park s story is worth retelling: The bisecting of the Barrio Logan community by I 5 and the
Coronado Bridge, ending in a concrete roof supported by large gray pillars, replaced at least 1,500
families. With a society of 20,000 in its heyday in the 1940s, the historic neighborhood was rezoned
as industrial in the 1950s, ushering in junkyards, auto wrecking operations, plating and chemical
companies, and now, a legacy of environmental and air condition issues.
In 1967, community leaders began demanding a neighborhood park under the bridge. When the
California Highway Patrol started building a substation there, hundreds of residents formed a
human shield to stop construction. They displayed signs in Spanish with statements like, More
houses, fewer junkyards, and they hoisted a Chicano flag from a telephone pole.
The use of murals as a tool of political resistance is a long Mexican tradition. Imagine the park

who has been volunteering at the park for 48

Three characters who have influenced Katniss Everyone in society must have been influenced by
others around him. Think about it; a person can always find several people who have influenced
him deeply in his life, such as his parents and teachers. More specifically, the person can be
directly influenced by their words and actions; he can also be unconsciously influenced by their
minds and moods. However, these influences can be positive or negative for a man. Katniss, the
protagonist in The Hunger Games, has been influenced in both positive and negative ways by

Essay about American Influences of Walt Whitman
American Influences of Walt Whitman
In his poems and life, Walt Whitman celebrated the human spirit and the human body. He sang the
praises of democracy and marveled at the technological advances of his era. His direct poetic style
shocked many of his contemporaries. This style, for which Whitman is famous, is in direct relation
to several major American cultural developments. The development of American dictionaries, the
growth of baseball, the evolution of Native American policy, and the development of photography
all played a part and became essential components of Whitman s poetry.
Walt Whitman was an avid reader of dictionaries, which he realized were the compost heap of all
English language literature. It was the place ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was then that the first recognizable baseball rules were set down in writing. As baseball was
born, it immediately was bound up in Whitman s mind with qualities he would endorse his whole
life: vigor, manliness, and al fresco health.
In 1855, when Whitman s Song of Myself was first printed, baseball was still very new. It was
clearly one of the distinctive elements of the American experience that Whitman found worth
absorbing into the song of himself, even though the term baseball had not yet made its way into the
dictionaries. At various times over the years, Whitman would extol many other sports, but there
was only one sport he would return to throughout his life, and that was baseball. To him, baseball
was an activity with its own built in localized slang, and its own essential connections to American
culture; a game conceived, developed, and originally played only in the United States of America.
Clearly for Whitman, baseball was the sport that coincided with the best aspects of the American
character. In it he saw the emergence of national sport one that had a rhythm and movement
distinctly American. In this game, he saw the possibilities for democratic crowds and brotherhood
that he would celebrate in his poetry (Folsom 30 53).
Three days before Whitman s eleventh birthday, Congress passed the Indian Removal Bill. Andrew

Nature Of Revenge In Hamlet
William Shakespeare s Hamlet is characterised as a tragedy, illustrating an abundance of significant
themes, with one of the most important ideas being revenge. Revenge is defined as an action of
hurting somebody in return for something that has been done unjustly wrong. The main character,
Hamlet, continuously reflects on revenge throughout the play, particularly in his soliloquies.
Nevertheless, he has been procrastinating, talking about the situation, but not demonstrating it. In
an honour code, it displays coward like qualities. Revenge is effectively represented in Hamlet, as it
allows to develop a strong understanding of human strengths and frailties. This is because it
represents the different forms of deceptive plots that result in the situation of death. This is clearly
evident in Hamlet s interaction with his father s ghost, convincing him to murder Claudius for
revenge, which extends into the play that is acted out, proving that he is the murderer of his father.
Also, Hamlet s third and most famous soliloquyprovides the reader with a reflection on death in
his melancholic state of mind, and Hamlet also refrains from killing Claudius as he is praying and
decides to killhim at another time.
To begin with, the exploration of human strengths and frailties in Shakespeare s Hamlet
provides a strong understanding of the complex nature of revenge, because Hamlet is
determined to kill Claudius, which is the main reason for his father s death. This is the most
pivotal moment at the end of Act 1 because it leads Hamlet into insanity because it s his primary
mode of interacting with other people later in the play. The idea is used by Shakespeare to further
develop Hamlet s character because the concept of sin must be returned with punishment because
Claudius has committed a sin on his father. The quote Revenge his foul and most unnatural
murder, is used as a motif on the centre of honesty, as it explores the fact that Hamlet would do
something for his father if they had a close relationship. He is rather keen to undertake this task so
that he can get revenge on Claudius. With wings as swift as meditation or the thoughts of love may
sweep to my revenge, uses a simile to express Hamlet s determination

Movie Analysis of Jaws .
Released in 1975, Jaws was probably one of the best adventure, action, and suspense films of that
era. Directed by Steven Spielberg with the following staring main cast members Roy Scheider as
Martin Bordy (chief police officer), Richard Dreyfuss as Matt Hooper (marine biologist), Robert
Shaw as Quint (local fisherman), Murray Hamilton as Larry Vaughan (town mayor). Jawsthe

His acts of heroism are acted out several times throughout the film. Of course, he also had his boat
captain and a marine biologist along for the wild ride. This plays out to be a team like environment,
in which they contributed their different individual strengths towards the common goal; hunting
down the massive man eating shark.
This film also used countless props; however, there is truly only one that needs to be discussed,
and goes by the name of Jaws. This massive great white shark was a 26 foot mechanical beast.
This enormous steel gutted fish was connected to a crane arm which allowed the shark to tread
just underneath the surface of the water at a rapid rate. This gives the realistic feel of the amount
of power this shark has; being able to swim at such rates of speed. This adds to the fright element
of movie because we all know that big animals can be intimidating. Animals that are big and fast
are even scarier. Animals that are big, fast, and hungry, are a force to be reckoned with.
The film, Jaws, uses a variety of different photographic techniques. Panning was used quite often in
this movie to remind the viewer that they were a long distance from the shoreline. Additionally,
plenty of filming was done underwater. This allowed the audience to get a realistic feel for the
surrounding environment. The brilliant underwater imagery resulted with help from the naturally
dark and chilling emptiness of the foreign ocean world. A notable climatic shot is

included each task that I had to complete. I would check off when I had completed a task, which
would then indicate what the next step would be. Additionally, it left a paper trail that I could
use if I had to look back to determine if something was completed. I tracked everything in Excel

my daily responsibilities. Excel is very beneficial because it can be used to further organization
in any job. Outlook was a key program that I utilized every day. I would organize my emails by
keeping them in labeled folders. Instead of deleting old emails, I would opt to put in them in a

Essay about Parker’s Redemption
Parker s Redemption
Flannery O Connor s story Parker s Back introduces us to a man who feels incomplete and is
seeking to fill the empty space in his soul. He attempts to do so the only way he knows how, by
getting tattoos. He continues this until the front of [his body is] almost completely covered... (514).
In fact, Parker even considers getting a religious tattoo to appease his over zealously religious wife
Sarah Ruth. A brush with death that is literally a burning bush experience drives him to mark the
change in his life by getting that tattoo. He races to the tattoo parlor and demands to see the
religious tattoos. He chooses a Byzantine Christ. In this story, Flannery O Connor tries to show that

Whenever he gets a chance, he looks at his tattoos, but notices that the effect was not of one
intricate arabesque of colors but of something haphazard and botched. A huge dissatisfaction
would come over him.... As the space on the front of him for tattoos decreased, his
dissatisfaction grew and became general (514). He is seeking something greater. This
dissatisfaction is amplified when he meets Sarah Ruth. Even though he finds her physically
unattractive, he cannot help falling in love with her. She is the only person he reveals his true
name to. Several factors play into this attraction. Although Parker s tattoos were attractive to the
kind of girls he liked but who had never liked him before (513), Sarah Ruth detests them and
calls them vanity of vanities (515), and this playing hard to get fascinates him. Sarah Ruth s
religiosity attracts him as well: She had asked him if he was saved and he had replied that he
didn t see it was anything in particular to save him from. After that, inspired, Parker had said, I d
be saved enough if you was to kiss me (518). Although religion was something he ran from
previously, Parker desires to be near to it as an attempt to appease his unrest. But more importantly,
Sarah Ruth s demand to know his full name, his identity (something she does twice), is the
strongest attraction. When

Analyzing The Syrian Refugee Crisis
Living in a world that is constantly changing affords us many advantages. One of those advantages
is globalization. Globalization has allowed us share various aspects of our cultures, governments,
and economies with other parts of the world through a unique process of integration.
Unfortunately, globalization also comes with its disadvantages. The increased interconnectedness
throughout the global community, has created world where the devastating events that occur in
one place can have a huge negative impact in other places across the globe. This situation is
referred to as a global issue, as it has the capability of affecting other parts of the world. One of the

Evaluate The Labeling Theory
The labeling theory is society using terms to describe or classify a class or group of people. The
people s self identify and behavior can be impacted and influenced by the words that are used.
This leads to stereotyping and the concept of self fulfilling prophecy as well, because people will
believe that they can only live to be what society has told them they can be. People should not be
labelled as criminal or violent before they even portray the behavior. It is not fair to them and
the future they may or may not have. Telling a person that they prone to violent and criminal
behavior will immediately change the views that they have on themselves. They will
automatically believe that the second they fail at a task or fall short of their life goals, it was
because they were not meant for them. Not only are the labels destroying the person s reputation
with outside people, the labels are destroying their mentality as well. The predictions are putting
them in a box before they are given a chance to develop the said criminal behavior. It does not

India does have major health care hurdles. The biggest issues that affect healthcare in India stem
from poverty and sanitation. Multiple complications arise when 638 million people open

Technology Is A Bad Thing
Advances in Technology Technology has advanced in all shapes and forms and there is no sign
of it stopping. It has changed the way many of us see the world today. If our ancestors would be
alive, they would think it is a completely different place. Many consumers believe that
technology is a bad thing because they see the ugly side of change. Most people if not all simply
do not want to accept it or perhaps they notice those consumers who make mistakes and abuse
technology. Despite it being an unseen act of technology, society is continuously changing to
uphold a set of standards never before held for the sake of the future. We witness generations
grasping a general idea of how to use the complex devices starting at a young age. The younger
users are able to use their devices with ease and breeze through applications at an outstanding
rate. For example, my younger siblings know exactly how to unlock my phone and swipe
through pages of applications and know exactly what game to use. I have witnessed them logging
in on my computers and perhaps search the web to watch their favorite videos online. This idea of
teaching the future generations at a young age to develop technological skills is a great
opportunity for them to have for the sake of their jobs. It is like we are preparing them to
advanced and not stay behind. The advances in technology is increasing at a rapid rate creating new
types of jobs and opportunities brightening the future of the next generation. Since

Analysis Of James Joyce s Araby
In the short story Araby, James Joyce provides the audience with a glimpse if 19th century
Ireland seen through the eyes of an adolescent young man. It is this adolescence and the navies
of the world that is under attack. Joyce masterfully reveals an innocence held by Araby by
contrasting it with a setting filled with symbology that eludes to the hopeless reality in which he
lives. Joyce injects a sense of unrealized bleakness for the protagonist by the imagery that he puts
forth. North Richmond street, being blind was a quiet street except for the hour... (Joyce 200),
immediately sets the atmosphere as one that is almost desolate, with iron gray clouds heavy with
grief for the people below. The with the ending phrase, except for the hour (Joyce 200), reinforces
this feeling. Only one hour, where life and movement grace this street but fleeting, like freshly
minted snowflake landing on a cheek flushed with embarrassment. Much like a crepuscular ray,
pushing through clouds, when gone, do the clouds not seem darker. The path to adult hood for
Araby rests under these skies and winds thorough a morass of self truthand a sense of predestined
caste. The reality of Arabys life comes into focus early on. His poor and reality destitute situation
made apparent mainly by where he lives. An uninhabited house...stood at the blindend, detached
from its neighbors (Joyce 200) , is revealing to the economic station of Araby. The fact that he lives
with his uncle suggest that in his

until he can finally be with Fermina, he never marries or has children. The scars of losing his first

even a stable job. In comparison, David Lambert, the main character of the novel A Scientific
Romance , also fails to progress in life after the loss of his true love. David s life seems to
deteriorate when he loses his lover Anita. He later spends years searching for her around the
globe. It becomes clear that David has never moved on from loving Anita as he says, ... sail back

The Power Of Music, Music And Music
There are many ways to tell a story. Throughout my life I ve find this to be true. As a storyteller
myself, I always try my best to utilize the many different approaches to telling a story. Whether
through music, books, poetry, drawings, films, etc. I ve tried them all. I ve always been
fascinated by other people s stories. I will always try to retell them myself. Most of the time I
usually just talk about them. But once in awhile, I like to use what I think is the most powerful
form of storytelling, music. Music has been part of my life for a while now. Throughout middle
school and high school I was in both Band and Choir. And throughout these years I come to
understand the power that music has with storytelling. Especially in films, I ve grown up
watching films and they have impacted my life greatly. The films, Jesus Christ Super Star, La La
Land, and The Grand Budapest Hotel have a musical score that expresses a story better than any
words could ever express.
I grew up Catholic, just as my family grew up Catholic. Every year during the season of Lent,
around the time of Holy Week, my family and I would honor Jesus s final days with many
traditions. Tradition such as attending mass, receiving palms, having our feet washed and of course
watching the 1974 classic Jesus Christ Superstar. Now the Roman Catholic Church dosen t
considered Jesus Christ Superstar a tradition, but I do. My family and I will all get together and
eat some popcorn and drink some pop.

Digestive System Of The Digestive System
Digestive System After dissecting the rat, we learned that the rat s body has many complex
systems. To begin, the digestive system contains a group of organs that work together to convert
food taken in from the body and converts it to energy and basic nutrients to feed the cells in the
body. The digestive system includes the mouth, pyloric valve or sphincter, caecum, small intestine,
colon (large intestine), duodenum, retrum, and stomach. The salivary glands, liver, and pancreas are
glands that are laid outside of the digestive system, but they are associated with contributing to the
system s function. The mouth processes the food so that it is easier to swallow. From the mouth, it
moves to the back of the mouth.
Pharynx
The pharynx is where the food moves into from the back of the mouth. It is separated into three
pathways. The nasopharynx is a pathway for only air, the oropharynx is a pathway for food and
air, and the laryngopharynx is where both food and air pass by penetrating through the nose.
Esophagus
After successfully passing through the pharynx, it moves to the esophagus. The esophagus links
together the stomach and the pharynx so when food is consumed by the organism, it moves into the
stomach.
Stomach
The stomach muscles work together to break down food so part of digestion takes place here. It also
produces acids (hydrochloric acid) and enzymes (pepsin) and mucus which work together to break
down proteins. The stomach also functions to portion food into

A Brief Note On The Canadian Charter Of Rights And Freedoms
Proper housing is crucial to a human being s wellbeing, both mentally and physically. It is
fundamental in ensuring good mental health, physical health, and it sets the basis for social
inclusion in society. Housing is necessary for human beings to be able to survive and be able to
protect themselves from the elements. It is recognized as a basic human need alongside food and
water; thus, it is surprising that an estimated minimum of 235,000 people in a developed country
like Canada remain homeless and an estimated one in five people cannot afford housing
(Heffernan, Tracy; Faraday, Fay; and Rosenthal, Peter, 2015). Statistics such as these beg the
question of whether or not the right to housing or the right to affordable housing is recognized in
Canada. The answer to this question is quite complicated as there is no clear right in the Canadian
Charter of Rights and Freedomsthat recognizes a specific right to housing or shelter, however,
under section 7 and section 15 of the charter which state that Everyone has the right to life, liberty
and security of the person and the right not to be deprived thereof except in accordance with the
principles of fundamental justice and Every individual is equal before and under the law and has
the right to the equal protection and equal benefit of the law without discrimination and, in

With the busy lifestyles we have today, juggling parenting, working, and school can be
overwhelming so having the structure of a traditional setting may work best. For some, they may
prefer this organized method. Social interaction is a factor in traditional learning as well. A student
would always have face to face interaction with his/her classmates as well as with the instructors.
Some students would prefer the more instant feedback and expressions as well as to read body
language of those they are interacting with. They would have hands on experiences and learning
available to him/her. This learning environment would also provide extracurricular activities such
as, sporting events and book fairs. For most, this way has been our only type of experience with
education and for some students; a deviation from this method of learning can cause anxiety, fear,
and frustration. Obviously someone who does not adapt to change easily should probably stick
with the traditional education. On the other hand, disadvantages some may see with traditional
education would be cost and flexibility. With traditional education a student could easily endure

Online College Vs. Online Education
If you re in Nigeria, online degree has been all over the media lately. The online courses are not
something that comes easily, especially if you are dealing with foreign online universities. Online
schools or what most Nigerians call distance learning is not fun and working with your online
degree at your home allows you to learn in your own way; and allows you to retain ownership how
fast you wish to earn your degree.
Fully accredited online colleges like national Open University of Nigeria and Walden University
course materials online have earned a widely recognized form of university accreditation from one
of the top six regional accreditation boards in Nigeria.
Even till now, students enrolled in online degree programs in Nigeria are ineligible for federal
student aid unless at least half of their programs was campus based (a law that was established in
1992 and known as the 50 percent rule), even though that is a different situation for most Nigerians
rushing to register online degree programs.
Firstly, you need to make sure your online school choice does have accreditation; this means the
institution has passed a specific level of standards through a recognized organization for upholding
quality education.
In countries like U.S and U.K, It s the Department of Education and also the Council for College
Accreditation that recognizes the Distance Education and Training Council as the accrediting
organization for distance learning institutions and education programs

The Life Of Ancient Egyptian Religion
The concept of the eternal life in traditional Egypt is associated with the sun that always rose up
to give renewal and vigor on a daily basis. Ancient Egyptians considered the afterlife as an ideal
dimension in its peace, delight, and bliss. There were no hardships, rivalry or any negative
emotions in the spiritual realm. The dimension was referred to commonly as the Field of
Offerings or the Field of Rushes. The heavenly place was complete with its own version of the
river Nile and was composed of two fields. The Egyptians society saw it possible to attain the
peace given in the afterlife if they led an earthly religious life. The next life was eternal in nature.
Ancient Egyptians employed two religious criteria to structure their belief in the afterlife. The
beliefs were centered on godly myths and the spiritual connection between the body and the soul.
One of the major elements in traditional Egyptian religion was their worship and belief in a
variety of gods and goddesses. Each of the deities had their particular power, relevance and
function in the ancient religion. The spirit world was associated with the god Ra, who was the deity
with the duty of ruling the dimension. According to McKay, Ra was responsible for choosing
individuals who were eligible for traveling in his boat across the spirit river Nile into the land of
the two fields . According to the religion, only Pharaohs had automatic passage to Ra s boat ride

First Sight In Krauss s A Universe
It is generally accepted that the universe had a beginning at some finite and measurable time in the
past; however, still highly debated since the beginning of humanity is the source from which the
universe came into its existence. In the popular science novel, A Universe from Nothing, Ph.D. and
internationally known theoretical physicist, Lawrence Krauss, demonstrates that the most plausible
answer to this question is considerably clearer than it appears to be at first sight. Through the
presentation of scientific facts and analysis of scientific experiments, Krauss argues that the universe
had a beginning with the explosion of a singularity, a point of infinite gravity and density, and how
this worldview is fully supported by scientific... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This approach is most evidently utilized when Krauss quotes a former president of the Vatican s
Pontifical Academy, an extremely religious research institute which embraces views that conflict
with scientific evidence, addressing the theory of the Big Bang stating As far as I can see, such a
theory remains entirely outside of any metaphysical or religious question. (5). An authority
figure and representative of the academy is quoted to openly admitting that whether or not the
Big Bang happened is a scientific question, not a theological one. Krauss easily meets the
qualification as he is a Ph.D. in theoretical physics, and because Krauss s argument relies
significantly on scientific data, readers whose views conflicted heavily with those of Krauss are
encouraged to become more open minded and receptive to the evidence and claims being set
forth. In addition, Krauss builds credibility by openly admitting that science s capabilities are

Therefore creating an influence.
There are a number of skills and talents which defines Donald Trump.
But there are some points which have also affected his image in a negative manner. The press and
the social media have criticized few of statements.
For example,
The billionaire was booed in the first minutes of the debate, after refusing to rule out a run as a
third party candidate.
Donald Trump ranted and blustered his way through a raucous first debate of the 2016 presidential
election, smirking as he admitted calling women fat pigs .
The billionaire property mogul shot to the top of polls after accusing Mexican immigrants of being
criminals and rapists, but his habit of throwing out provocative statements unsupported by the facts
left him exposed during the two hour debate on Fox news.
Within minutes of leaving the debate stage he declared himself the unequivocal winner , but his
unsteady performance may prove damaging his image.
He then entered into a tense exchange with Megyn Kelly, one of the debate moderators, who
asked why he had, why he had referred to women as fat pigs, dogs, slobs and disgusting animals.

Schizoid Personality Disorder
Clinical Description
1. Presentation of problem Schizoid Personality Disorder is a personality disorder in which an
individual chooses to avoid close relationships with other people, takes pleasure in little, if any,
activities, appears to be indifferent to others opinions of them, and they are typically asexual. Many
people confuse schizoid personality disorder with schizophrenia, but they are two separate
disorders. Schizoid personality disorder is not a mood disorder nor does an individual with
schizoid personality disorder present with symptoms such as paranoia or hallucinations. In some
instances, schizoid personality disorder can be a precursor for schizophrenia, but in order to be
diagnosed with schizoid personality disorder, an individual must not present with symptoms of
schizophrenia.
According to Barlow (2015), individuals with schizoid personality disorder present pervasive
patterns of detachment and avoid interpersonal relationships. For example, a schizoid is most
likely not going interact in a group setting or initiate conversations with people; they do not desire
closeness with other people. Some people may think schizoids behave the way they do because
they are shy or have social anxiety, but that is not the case; schizoids choose to isolate themselves
and typically only have

Level 2 Trauma Center Communication Paper
In my position at a Level II Trauma Center as a Transfer Center Coordinator, communication has
been a key theme over the last year in particular. As I have previously mentioned, the Transfer
Center and our office cohort has a new Director and the growing pains have been great. Before our
new Director, gossip was rampant. With the new director, the group is learning a lot about
communication, the value of downward and upward communication and the form that
communication is received. The most recent source of growing pains was from the change of the
type of staff for the mid shift; staff was changing from non licensed staff to registered nurses. The
Director announced the changes to the group in June, however the pilot project was not yet approved

Unfortunately, my office setting does not vary from those classic lyrics. The text calls the
grapevine informal, yet important source of information (Robbins Judge, 2009). There are two
misconceptions I had about the grapevine idea: essentially 75% of information received by the
grapevine is true information (Robbins Judge, 2009) and gossip is rarely the source of rumors
(Robbins Judge, 2009). The interesting part of the grapevine that is particularly applicable to the
situation I described is that rumors emerge as a response to situations that are important to us,
when there is ambiguity, and under conditions that around anxiety, (Robbins Judge, 2009). The
mid shift change of staff announcement was particularly ill timed because the project was not
approved, nor were dates set for the approval; the pilot project announcement was ambiguous.
This set a motion for anxiety. The common theme with my co workers was rumors around who
was keeping his/her job and who was being let go, with many people speculating who was being
fired. This rumor was damaging not only to my co workers who were considered the outgroup
(Robbins Judge, 2009), but also to respect for the

Literary Analysis Of Samuel Taylor Coleridge
Dan Paulos Mr. Kaplan English IV 10 November 2014 Literary Analysis of Samuel Taylor
Coleridge Samuel Taylor Coleridge was an influential British philosopher, critic, and writer of
the early eighteenth century. He was a prominent member of a literary group known as the Lake
Poets, which included renowned writers like William Wordsworth and Robert Southey. His
writings and philosophy greatly contributed to the formation and construction of modern
thought. He possessed an extensive, creative imagination, and developed his own imagination
theories in his writings. However, his personal life was absorbed with various family problems,
and he experienced much solitary anguish. This resulted in depression for Coleridge, and he
often based his stories and poems on themes of dejection, sadness, and melancholy. But he was
neither a nihilist nor a pessimist by any stretch. He believed in the healing powers of love, and
had hope for recovery. His writings were described as being versatile, and scholars have found a
great variety of themes, styles, and techniques in his literature (McKusick par. 1 3). Coleridge was
a firm believer that there is a connection between madness and moral evil. He felt that in the midst
of some horror, people may tend to think that God has left them, and then they would blame their
mental disease on demons. He expressed this message through the protagonist he created in his
longest poem The Rime of the Ancient Mariner. The Mariner experiences this exact

New Wave Of Immigration Essay
Throughout American history, many waves of immigrants have been attracted to the idea of
coming to the United States. They came to the United States for various reasons. Many came to the
United States for political, economic, and social reasons. Depending on the time period many
immigrants were welcomed freely. But, during other times many government policies restricted
immigration. The old wave and new wave of immigrants were treated very differently by the
government.
The start of the immigration movement erupted during the 1820 s 1860 s pre civil war, this is
where many immigrants from northern and western europe came to the United States. The old wave
of immigrants varied from where they came from, many came from england, scotland, and ... Show

The new wave of immigrants started coming to the United States during the 1880 s 1920 s,
many were from southern and eastern europe. Some of the new wave of immigrants were,
italians, greeks, polish, chinese, and japanese. Most of the new wave of immigrants settled in
urban areas like New York city, Boston, and Chicago. There were many reasons why the new
wave of immigrants came to the United States. The irish left Ireland because of the potato
famine, italians left italy because of poverty and came for a better life, and russian and eastern
european jews came to the united states because they were being persecuted and wanted religious
freedom. There was a lot of fear againsts the new wave of immigrants, many people believed that
they would take jobs, and would not assimilate. Assimilate means to blend. Due to many people
feeling this way towards the new wave of immigrants the government started to put restrictions on
immigration. The Chinese Exclusion act of 1882 was one of these restrictions that was placed,
congress passed a law prohibiting Chinese laborers from entering the United States. People believed
that they would not be able to assimilate. Another restriction that was placed is the Emergency
Quota Act of 1921, congress limited immigration to 350,00 immigrants a year. Each country had a

The Public Option
The public option was extraordinarily popular among the liberal democratic base buts its benefits
were regularly overstated. At heart of the challenges of the public option were the solution was a
veil for a government run healthcare plan and the pre text to a single payer solution. If over time
the government plan were cheaper than private insurance it would erode the insurance business and
eventually put them out of business.
Many have argued any public option using the government s power to negotiate would be unfair
competition and ultimately put the private insurers out of business, which is true in theory. The
government gas significant control over the cost of provider services and like what happens with ...

As an example, in 1997 Congress attempted to fix the reimbursement rate by fixing it to the
Resource Based Relative Value Scale, or RBRVS, and using a new system called the Sustainable
Growth Rate, tied the growth in physician fees to growth in the size of the nations economy, as
measured by GDP and it didn t work. As Medicare spending grew faster than the economy, the
new law required Medicare fees to be reduced and both parties of Congress have refused to enforce
the provision.

  • 2. Chinstrap Penguinss Research Paper This article is about how Chinstrap Penguins are threatened by a volcanic eruption. A volcano in the northern part of the island of an archipelago in the South Atlantic Ocean has been ejecting ash and smoke since March. Of course that threatens all of the animals living there which is the Penguins, and its the largest colony of Penguins in the world according to new studies. These penguins can also not leave the island due to the volcano, and also can not lay or hatch eggs on the island, which will do a lot of damage and will be very hard to follow. Zavodovski Island is home to over one million Chinstrap Penguins, but humans do live there. None of the main effects will be known until the Penguins return to the island, in which 10 to 15 percent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Melancholia Depression Melancholia: Depression on Film Melancholia is defined as a mental condition characterized by extreme depression, bodily complaints, and often hallucinations and delusions. Lars von Trier wrote the film during his own episode of severe depression, and noted the tendency of the depressed to remain peaceful during catastrophic events. To reflect this detached sense of reality, Lars Von Trier rejected his rigidly realistic Dogma 95 principles for a dreamlike aesthetic that represents the depressed mind of the main character Justine (played by Kirsten Dunst). He splits the film into two parts with each part named after one of the main characters. Part one is named after Justine and takes place during the night of her wedding reception. Justine... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most graphic allusion is when Justine, in her wedding dress and with a bouquet of flowers, is floating lifeless down a stream of water. This is a recreation of John Everett Millais painting entitled Ophelia. Ophelia, a character from Shakespeare s Hamlet, is perhaps the most famous depressive in all of literature. Justine embodies this image of being trapped and detached from loved ones, through her emotionless and dead eyed expressions. Justine and Claire both try to escape during the film but they both fail; therefore, they are literally trapped on the mansion property, which gives an increasing sense of hopelessness and dread. Richard Wagner s song, Prelude to Triston and Isolde, is played as a haunting refrain throughout the film. The song mixes depression with beauty and desire, like how the beautiful aesthetic of the film mixes with the hopelessness on screen. I appreciate that Lars von Trier rejects end of the world movie clichГ©s, and instead shows something deeper and more poetic. The end of the world is experienced through the broken Justine and Claire, and not shown through massive destructions of major cities and mass hysteria. The end of the world is a fiercely intimate and unescaping event, instead of a time filled with last minute hook ups and hedonistic bucket lists. It is interesting to watch how Justine and Claire react to the knowledge of their impending ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay On Puppy Mill When you are seeing the adorable puppy in the window of a pet store, flea market or even on the internet you should just ask yourself where exactly are these puppies coming from? Roughly 90 percent of puppies in pet stores get them from puppy mills. What exactly is a puppy mill? Puppy mills are commercial breeding facilities that mass produce dogs for sale through pet stores, or directly to consumers through classifies ads or the internet. It is important to know that, in many cases, puppy mills are not illegal. In most states, a breeding kennel can legally keep dozens, even hundreds, of dogs in cages for their entire lives, as longs as the dogs are given the basics of food, water, and shelter. The federal Animal Welfare Act passed in 1966, requires breeders who have more than three breeding female dogs and sell puppies to pet stores or puppy brokers to be licensed and inspected by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. In most cases, the standards that breeders are required to meet by law are extremely minimal. In puppy mills, female dogs are bred about twice a year until they can no longer produce puppies. Mothers and their litters often suffer from malnutrition, exposure, and a lack of adequate veterinary care. Most of them are bred far too early, before it is safe. Not only is... On the other hand, Mr. Smith had the opposite impression with his dirty boots, wrinkled shirt and goofy/joking personality. His unprofessional appearance and personality caught me off guard since this interview was being conducted at 830 AM. • 13. Modern Dance Is Never Static Essay Dance is never static. Even if it has specific sub genres with set guidelines and expected characteristics like other forms of visual and performing arts, dancers have the will to choose not follow them as often and as strictly if they please. They re allowed the freedom of expression as well as the freedom to even create new forms of dance. In fact, this freedom to create is why modern dance came to be. It decided to stem off of classical ballet then completely break off from its roots and become its own sub genre over the course of decades. Modern has many similarities to ballet, such as how turns are conducted or how arm strength is utilized, but they are considered to be enemies by dancers. I would like to explain more about how these two opponents (modern and ballet) are rather more like sisters, as well as how modern dance has evolved in the past century and how this change threatens traditional modern form. I will go into the origins of modern dance and what cultural phenomenons it is derived from. Furthermore, I would like to debunk its stereotypes and clarify just what modern dance is. Modern dance s enemy ballet establishes visual and physical restrictions on day one of class. Dancers have specific positions of the feet, arms, and hands to follow and hold. They must have pointed feet when turning or on relevГ© (pushing your weight onto the balls of your feet to lift yourself), have his or her thumb placed against your palm for the sake of pretty lines (aesthetic is ... The walls pay tribute to the history of the surrounding Mexican American and immigrant community called Barrio Logan. In 1967, community leaders began demanding a neighborhood park under the bridge. When the California Highway Patrol started building a substation there, hundreds of residents formed a human shield to stop construction. They displayed signs in Spanish with statements like, More houses, fewer junkyards, and they hoisted a Chicano flag from a telephone pole. Three Characters Who Have Influenced Katniss Essay Ewon Chang Ms. Costa ENG3U 6th November 2012 Three characters who have influenced Katniss Everyone in society must have been influenced by others around him. Think about it; a person can always find several people who have influenced him deeply in his life, such as his parents and teachers. More specifically, the person can be directly influenced by their words and actions; he can also be unconsciously influenced by their minds and moods. However, these influences can be positive or negative for a man. He sang the praises of democracy and marveled at the technological advances of his era. His direct poetic style shocked many of his contemporaries. This style, for which Whitman is famous, is in direct relation to several major American cultural developments. The development of American dictionaries, the growth of baseball, the evolution of Native American policy, and the development of photography all played a part and became essential components of Whitman s poetry. It was clearly one of the distinctive elements of the American experience that Whitman found worth absorbing into the song of himself, even though the term baseball had not yet made its way into the dictionaries. At various times over the years, Whitman would extol many other sports, but there was only one sport he would return to throughout his life, and that was baseball. To him, baseball was an activity with its own built in localized slang, and its own essential connections to American culture; a game conceived, developed, and originally played only in the United States of America. Clearly for Whitman, baseball was the sport that coincided with the best aspects of the American character. In it he saw the emergence of national sport one that had a rhythm and movement distinctly American. In this game, he saw the possibilities for democratic crowds and brotherhood that he would celebrate in his poetry (Folsom 30 53). • 17. Nature Of Revenge In Hamlet William Shakespeare s Hamlet is characterised as a tragedy, illustrating an abundance of significant themes, with one of the most important ideas being revenge. Revenge is defined as an action of hurting somebody in return for something that has been done unjustly wrong. The main character, Hamlet, continuously reflects on revenge throughout the play, particularly in his soliloquies. Nevertheless, he has been procrastinating, talking about the situation, but not demonstrating it. In an honour code, it displays coward like qualities. Revenge is effectively represented in Hamlet, as it allows to develop a strong understanding of human strengths and frailties. This is because it represents the different forms of deceptive plots that result in the situation of death. This is clearly evident in Hamlet s interaction with his father s ghost, convincing him to murder Claudius for revenge, which extends into the play that is acted out, proving that he is the murderer of his father. Also, Hamlet s third and most famous soliloquyprovides the reader with a reflection on death in his melancholic state of mind, and Hamlet also refrains from killing Claudius as he is praying and decides to killhim at another time. To begin with, the exploration of human strengths and frailties in Shakespeare s Hamlet provides a strong understanding of the complex nature of revenge, because Hamlet is determined to kill Claudius, which is the main reason for his father s death. This is the most pivotal moment at the end of Act 1 because it leads Hamlet into insanity because it s his primary mode of interacting with other people later in the play. The idea is used by Shakespeare to further develop Hamlet s character because the concept of sin must be returned with punishment because Claudius has committed a sin on his father. The quote Revenge his foul and most unnatural murder, is used as a motif on the centre of honesty, as it explores the fact that Hamlet would do something for his father if they had a close relationship. He is rather keen to undertake this task so that he can get revenge on Claudius. With wings as swift as meditation or the thoughts of love may sweep to my revenge, uses a simile to express Hamlet s determination ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This film also used countless props; however, there is truly only one that needs to be discussed, and goes by the name of Jaws. This massive great white shark was a 26 foot mechanical beast. This enormous steel gutted fish was connected to a crane arm which allowed the shark to tread just underneath the surface of the water at a rapid rate. This gives the realistic feel of the amount of power this shark has; being able to swim at such rates of speed. This adds to the fright element of movie because we all know that big animals can be intimidating. Animals that are big and fast are even scarier. Animals that are big, fast, and hungry, are a force to be reckoned with. The film, Jaws, uses a variety of different photographic techniques. Panning was used quite often in this movie to remind the viewer that they were a long distance from the shoreline. Additionally, plenty of filming was done underwater. I kept separate spreadsheets for different responsibilities and had a chart that included each task that I had to complete. I would check off when I had completed a task, which would then indicate what the next step would be. Additionally, it left a paper trail that I could use if I had to look back to determine if something was completed. I tracked everything in Excel and integrated it into my daily routine. It is this adolescence and the navies of the world that is under attack. Joyce masterfully reveals an innocence held by Araby by contrasting it with a setting filled with symbology that eludes to the hopeless reality in which he lives. Joyce injects a sense of unrealized bleakness for the protagonist by the imagery that he puts forth. North Richmond street, being blind was a quiet street except for the hour... Much like a crepuscular ray, pushing through clouds, when gone, do the clouds not seem darker. The path to adult hood for Araby rests under these skies and winds thorough a morass of self truthand a sense of predestined caste. The reality of Arabys life comes into focus early on. His poor and reality destitute situation made apparent mainly by where he lives. • 29. Digestive System Of The Digestive System Digestive System After dissecting the rat, we learned that the rat s body has many complex systems. To begin, the digestive system contains a group of organs that work together to convert food taken in from the body and converts it to energy and basic nutrients to feed the cells in the body. The digestive system includes the mouth, pyloric valve or sphincter, caecum, small intestine, colon (large intestine), duodenum, retrum, and stomach. The salivary glands, liver, and pancreas are glands that are laid outside of the digestive system, but they are associated with contributing to the system s function. The mouth processes the food so that it is easier to swallow. From the mouth, it moves to the back of the mouth. Pharynx The pharynx is where the food moves into from the back of the mouth. It is separated into three pathways. The nasopharynx is a pathway for only air, the oropharynx is a pathway for food and air, and the laryngopharynx is where both food and air pass by penetrating through the nose. Esophagus After successfully passing through the pharynx, it moves to the esophagus. The esophagus links together the stomach and the pharynx so when food is consumed by the organism, it moves into the stomach. Stomach The stomach muscles work together to break down food so part of digestion takes place here. It also produces acids (hydrochloric acid) and enzymes (pepsin) and mucus which work together to break down proteins. The stomach also functions to portion food into ... It is fundamental in ensuring good mental health, physical health, and it sets the basis for social inclusion in society. It is recognized as a basic human need alongside food and water; thus, it is surprising that an estimated minimum of 235,000 people in a developed country like Canada remain homeless and an estimated one in five people cannot afford housing (Heffernan, Tracy; Faraday, Fay; and Rosenthal, Peter, 2015). • 41. First Sight In Krauss s A Universe It is generally accepted that the universe had a beginning at some finite and measurable time in the past; however, still highly debated since the beginning of humanity is the source from which the universe came into its existence. In the popular science novel, A Universe from Nothing, Ph.D. and internationally known theoretical physicist, Lawrence Krauss, demonstrates that the most plausible answer to this question is considerably clearer than it appears to be at first sight. Through the presentation of scientific facts and analysis of scientific experiments, Krauss argues that the universe had a beginning with the explosion of a singularity, a point of infinite gravity and density, and how this worldview is fully supported by scientific... This approach is most evidently utilized when Krauss quotes a former president of the Vatican s Pontifical Academy, an extremely religious research institute which embraces views that conflict with scientific evidence, addressing the theory of the Big Bang stating As far as I can see, such a theory remains entirely outside of any metaphysical or religious question. (5). An authority figure and representative of the academy is quoted to openly admitting that whether or not the Big Bang happened is a scientific question, not a theological one. Krauss easily meets the qualification as he is a Ph.D. in theoretical physics, and because Krauss s argument relies significantly on scientific data, readers whose views conflicted heavily with those of Krauss are encouraged to become more open minded and receptive to the evidence and claims being set forth. In addition, Krauss builds credibility by openly admitting that science s capabilities are limited by the observations and evidence that can be acquired stating perhaps we are missing something even today that might have been observable had only we lived 10 billion years ago or perhaps could see if we lived 100 billion years into the future (18). Krauss being direct and sincere with his audience makes him more reliable as a provider and educator of science. Krauss also follows up with I should stress that the Big Bang picture is too firmly grounded in data from every area to be proved invalid in its general features (118). The inclusion that each individual field of science is able to contribute to the Big Bang picture increases Krauss s credibility because it asserts that great minds, specialized in considerably different domains, are arriving at the same general conclusion given access to remarkably different instruments and forms of evidence. Presentation of problem Schizoid Personality Disorder is a personality disorder in which an individual chooses to avoid close relationships with other people, takes pleasure in little, if any, activities, appears to be indifferent to others opinions of them, and they are typically asexual. Many people confuse schizoid personality disorder with schizophrenia, but they are two separate disorders. Schizoid personality disorder is not a mood disorder nor does an individual with schizoid personality disorder present with symptoms such as paranoia or hallucinations. In some instances, schizoid personality disorder can be a precursor for schizophrenia, but in order to be diagnosed with schizoid personality disorder, an individual must not present with symptoms of schizophrenia. According to Barlow (2015), individuals with schizoid personality disorder present pervasive patterns of detachment and avoid interpersonal relationships. For example, a schizoid is most likely not going interact in a group setting or initiate conversations with people; they do not desire closeness with other people. As I have previously mentioned, the Transfer Center and our office cohort has a new Director and the growing pains have been great. Before our new Director, gossip was rampant. With the new director, the group is learning a lot about communication, the value of downward and upward communication and the form that communication is received. Unfortunately, my office setting does not vary from those classic lyrics. The text calls the grapevine informal, yet important source of information (Robbins Judge, 2009). There are two misconceptions I had about the grapevine idea: essentially 75% of information received by the grapevine is true information (Robbins Judge, 2009) and gossip is rarely the source of rumors (Robbins Judge, 2009). The interesting part of the grapevine that is particularly applicable to the situation I described is that rumors emerge as a response to situations that are important to us, when there is ambiguity, and under conditions that around anxiety, (Robbins Judge, 2009). The mid shift change of staff announcement was particularly ill timed because the project was not approved, nor were dates set for the approval; the pilot project announcement was ambiguous. This set a motion for anxiety. The common theme with my co workers was rumors around who was keeping his/her job and who was being let go, with many people speculating who was being fired. This rumor was damaging not only to my co workers who were considered the outgroup (Robbins Judge, 2009), but also to respect for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Literary Analysis Of Samuel Taylor Coleridge Dan Paulos Mr. Kaplan English IV 10 November 2014 Literary Analysis of Samuel Taylor Coleridge Samuel Taylor Coleridge was an influential British philosopher, critic, and writer of the early eighteenth century. He was a prominent member of a literary group known as the Lake Poets, which included renowned writers like William Wordsworth and Robert Southey. His writings and philosophy greatly contributed to the formation and construction of modern thought. He possessed an extensive, creative imagination, and developed his own imagination theories in his writings. However, his personal life was absorbed with various family problems, and he experienced much solitary anguish. This resulted in depression for Coleridge, and he often based his stories and poems on themes of dejection, sadness, and melancholy. But he was neither a nihilist nor a pessimist by any stretch. He believed in the healing powers of love, and had hope for recovery. His writings were described as being versatile, and scholars have found a great variety of themes, styles, and techniques in his literature (McKusick par. 1 3). Coleridge was a firm believer that there is a connection between madness and moral evil. He felt that in the midst of some horror, people may tend to think that God has left them, and then they would blame their mental disease on demons. He expressed this message through the protagonist he created in his longest poem The Rime of the Ancient Mariner. The Mariner experiences this exact ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
