Polar bears are the largest bears, weighing up to 650 kilos and eating plants in summer and seals, hares, and foxes in winter. Arctic hares can hop at speeds up to 64 km/hr and change color in winter, eating mosses, lichens, leaves, seaweed, bark and roots. Harp seals are marine mammals preyed on by polar bears, arctic foxes, and humans, living up to 30 years. Caribou and arctic foxes both eat plants and smaller animals, while snow owls are active day and night, surviving temperatures as low as -50oC and being the official bird of Quebec.
