This document analyzes and summarizes the work of 5 students - Joel, Louise, James, Luke, and Mark. For each student, it provides the mark the teacher predicted, the actual mark received, and reasons for any differences. It finds that while the students generally did well research and planning, some could have included more details. It also analyzes each student's film construction, noting effective uses of techniques like camera angles, lighting, music, and editing to set tone and advance the gangster genre story. Areas for improvement are also identified, such as ensuring dialogue is clear and fight scenes are not too long. Overall, the document evaluates the quality and effectiveness of each student's work.

Reasons:
It looks clear to someone reading
it as it is well structured and he
has used a range of technology.
For example,Prezi, Blendspace,
Youtube etc. However, i think
more detail was needed in his
research into British gangster
films.
Her research into Quentin
Tarantino was detailed and so was
the Theory research. The
planning was clear about what she
wanted to do. However, she
needs more in-depth detail in her
other research tasks
A lot of detail in both research
and planning. This was especially
in the research of Conventions of
a Gangster film. He used a variety
of different technology to present
each task. However, he could
have analysed some openings of
British Gangster films when
researching his sub genre.
Great amounts of detail
throughout his research and
planning. Especially in his Theory
research. The blog is clearly
structured and uses a range of
technology. More research in the
the sub genre of British gangster
is needed.
3. Construction - Joel
Mark i predicted: Reasons: Actual
Mark:
43/60
39/60 In relation to mise en scene the editing at
the beginning when they took freeze
frames of each character and put their
name in text was very effective. Also, the
use of dark lighting created tension and
reflects the gangster genre well. A range
of camera shots and movements were
used. Good use of parallel, non-diegetic
music throughout. There was also a good
use of props which makes it seem more
real. The film was quite dark throughout
and the audio was unclear at times.
Two shot and shows dark lighting.
Freeze frame with use of text to show
characters name.
Camera starts off at a low
angle tilting down into an
establishing shot of the
house.
4. Construction - Louise
Mark i predicted: Reasons: Actual Mark:
3 6 / 6 0 35/60 Good use of camera angles and
movements used throughout
even though the camera is
unsteady at times. Also, the use
of text to tell the story is
effective and makes it clear to
the viewer what is going on.
However, the text should stay
on the screen for slightly longer.
She didnât make the genre of the
opening clear enough and the
time period it was set in was
confusing at times.
Quite a lot of writing to read and it
only stays on the screen for 5
seconds.
Long shot taken from a high angle. Costume was appropriate.
5. Construction - James
Mark i predicted: Reasons: Actual
Mark:
48/60 50/60 There was a huge variation of shot
types. At the beginning the music
was parallel with the titles. A good
time lapse of the city which is
effective because large cities are
typically where gangster films are
set.The voice over was clear and
effective to the opening. Good use
of different range of locations
which fits well with the gangster
genre. However, the fight scene
goes on for too long.
Fight scene goes High angle establishing shot of the city. Time lapsed on for over a minute.
from day to night.
6. Construction - Luke
Mark i predicted: Reasons: Actual
Mark:
4 8 / 6 0 50/60 Good sound quality throughout, good
use of voice overs and dialogue was
clear. There was a good variation of
shot types. The range of locations was
good and clearly well thought out.
There was also good use of editing. The
music was very appropriate until it
reached the stab scene where it should
of got more tense. There wasnât much
low level lighting used which would of
created more of a gangster type feeling
and tension.
Range of locations used and good
establishing shot at the beginning. Good use of editing. Blurred shot
becoming clearer.
Two shot. Good use of costumes to
show who is the boss.
