2. MAMA
EDITING – The style of this editing is fast pace and
disruptive, action match cuts are used and the cuts of
scenes are sharp and fast.
SOUNDS – There is a lot of diegetic sounds including
whispering children and screams of fear. Low tones are
also used and non diegetic sound is used to build tension
– including music and clanging of metal sounds.
MISE EN SCENE – Set in an old house with dark
bedrooms and lgihting, the costumes are also dark.
CAMERA ANGLES/SHOTS – Over the shoulder shots are
often used along with close-ups and tracking shots to
follow the characters and to increase the speed and
tension.

EDITING – The scenes begin to fade one into another.
Also the editing style is also fast pace showing the
fright within the characters
SOUNDS - Echoing is embedded in this trailer and
also silence is a good feature within this trailer as it
suggests something bad is about to occur.
MISE EN SCENE – Within this trailer the production is
taken place in an isolated city and an abandoned
church/warehouse
CAMERA SHOTS/ANGLES – close ups are very
commonly used along with tracking shots ad low
angles to look upon the victim and express their fear.
4. THE CONJURING
EDITING – special effects were used in this trailer to
show the abnormality of the film. Also the editing is
quick pace.
SOUNDS – Children's toys, Laughing/screams and non
diegetic sounds to enhance fear.
MISE EN SCENE – abandoned old home in the woods
(rural area) creating a sense of isolation.
CAMERA ANGLES/SHOTS – Panning shots were used
in this trailer to show the initial view and scene to the
audience, tracking shots were also used to build
tension and over the shoulder shots were embedded to
create variety and suspicion.
5. THE THING
EDITING – every part of the diting is fast pace and
sharp. There is usage of special effects on some of the
characters and this enhances the idea of the horror
overall.
SOUNDS – screams and whispers are incorporated
throughout along with the sound of burning fire and
also non diegetic sounds such as music and low toned
beats to show danger is occurring.
MISE EN SCENE – Isolation, rural setting with
machinery and dark lighting.
CAMERA ANGLES/SHOTS – extreme close ups to
show emotion and pan and tracking shots to show
movmeent and positioning of characters.
6. PARANORMAL ACTIVITY
EDITING – hand held camera used as it is found
footage. Also it has quick cuts and fast paced
editing throughout.
SOUNDS – breathing, quiet scenes then followed
with screams.
MISE EN SCENE – set in a cinema with real life
reactions. This suggests loneliness and shows a
contemporary lifestyle.
CAMERA SHOTS/ANGLES – over the shoulder
shots and extreme close ups – all the build a
sense of the unknown and fear.
