Analysis of
“A Cookbook”
-APB, Currículo y Evaluación-
KEY KNOWLEDGE, UNDERSTANDING,
AND SUCCESS SKILLS
?
x
This project is focus on teaching to the students key
knowledge like: likes & dislikes, present simple, how
to write commands and how to deal with data of a
survey.
Students will have to create a recipe of a dish, with
this activity will be activating their critical thinking
and problem/solving
Furthermore, the hole project is created using a
collaborative methodology and also there are some
individually activities.
Challenging problem or question
?
x
As the check list says this project it is perfectly
created on a meaningful problem, because we
are talking of a food recipe that it is a thing
that the students will deal in a future.
However, I personally think that the level is
appropriate but this project can be done in
lower levels like forth grader or high.
x
Sustained inquiry
?
x
This project is well created because students
will have to ask themselves a lot of question in
order to fulfil all the “missions”, for example
they have a learning diary where they will
explain all the learning-process but also they
can leave there all the questions that they have
and explain how they find the answer to that
question.
Authenticity
?
x
This project, I would say that the perfect word to
define it is not authenticity but I think that it is useful.
This is because the project it is connected with the
real world and to the students future life because all
humans being we have to write or read a recipe if we
want to cook something new.
Students voice & choice
?
x
This project allows kids to be creative and what
is more important they do their missions after
browsing different web pages that will clarify
the idea to the kids. So, once the kids have
learnt about the topic they have to create
something very creative having in their backs a
lot of scaffolding.
Reflection
?
x
In this project, once the students finish their
missions they have to write down in their
learning diaries their reflection about the
mission; if it was difficult, which was the most
difficult tool for you, if there was something
that you didn’t understand. I think that this is a
good way to know how the students feel and
also with the learning diaries will be more easy
to help them.
Critique & Revision
?
x
As I wrote down in the previous slide, with the
learning diary teachers can give feedback to their
students. This feedback also means that an
online tool the feedback can arrive to the student
even during the weekends when students have
more time to focus on their work.
Public product
?
x
The final aim of this project is to create a recipe book
that will be share worldwide because the teacher will
upload the book to blogs and other online tools to
sharing it. With this spreading what we want is to
demonstrate to the world what the students can do
and also the teachers who applies this project I think
they want to show that working without textbooks it
is possible.
