When Harmful substance
contaminate the Environment it is
called Pollution
 Pollution refers to the very bad
condition of environment in terms
of quantity and quality

 Water is a precious natural
resource
 65% of the body parts of plants
animals contain water
 Water is essential not only for
substaining life but also for
agriculture,industry,energy
production and transportation

7. Sources of Water
 we get water in large amount
from different natural resource
They are rainwater, wells,
backwater, streams, rivers and
ocean

8. PHYSICAL PROPERTIES
Water is a substance found in
nature in all three states of
matter namely solid ,liquid, gas
Pure water is colourless
,odourless and tasteless liquid

9. BOILING POINT OF WATER
 The temparature at which liquid
boils at normal atmospheric
pressure is its boiling point
 The boiling point of water is 100
degree celsius

10. HEAT CAPACITY OF WATER
 Water has the ability to hold
more heat when compared to
other substances .

11. FREEZING POINT OF WATER
Freezing point of a liquid is the
temparature at which it freezes to
solid at normal atmospheric
pressure
The freezing point of water is zero
degree celcius

12. SURFACE TENSION
 The number of molecules in
vapour form just above the
surface of water is less than those
on the surface
Hence the attraction towards the
sides and the interior will be
greater
Consequiently, the liquid surface
behaves like a streached
membrane

14. WATER POLLUTION
 Water pollution is the combination
of waterbodies (eg: lakes,stream,
Oceans,aquifiers and groundwater)
very often by human rights.

resource
Rampant use of fertilizers
Excessive use of detergents
Insectisides getting mixed with
water
Industrial waste mixed with water
Sewage mainly form household
mixed with water
