Mule with jms
Mule provides options for integrating with Java Message Service (JMS) for asynchronous, reliable messaging between applications. JMS can be used with queues and topics to send and receive messages containing various payloads like strings, objects, and streams. Mule works with external JMS implementations like ActiveMQ rather than providing its own server. It supports various JMS specifications and allows configuration of connectors, endpoints, message types, durable subscriptions, and filters to integrate with different JMS brokers.
Mule transformers
Mule transformers strictly enforce the types of incoming and outgoing data by default, but can be configured to relax this by ignoring invalid input and returning the original message. Transformers can change the payload type, format, or message properties. Mule provides many built-in transformers across its core and modules that support common transformations, and transports may include additional transformers. The "ignoreBadInput" and "returnClass" attributes allow configuring how invalid input is handled and enforcing the expected output type.
Mule flows
Mule flows are sequences of message processing events that can validate, enrich, transform, process with custom logic, log, and evaluate messages. The building blocks of a Mule flow include optional message sources that receive messages, message processors that process messages in various ways, message processing blocks that combine processors, and endpoints that insert or extract data and implement transport channels.
Mule execution units
Mule ESB supports three architectural approaches: Flows, Services, and Configuration Patterns. Flows are recommended as the preferred approach for most applications as they provide the most flexibility to arrange message processing building blocks. Services were previously the main approach but Flows were introduced to allow more customization. Configuration Patterns provide pre-configured patterns optimized for common use cases that can be set up through the XML editor.
Mule introduction
Mule ESB provides comprehensive application integration for businesses through its core Enterprise Service Bus. It facilitates internal and external connections through a graphical drag-and-drop interface or direct code editing. Applications can be deployed to robust standalone or clustered Mule servers. CloudHub speeds deployment to cloud platforms, while DataMapper transforms data between formats and Data Loader bulk uploads data. Mule applications can process messages linearly or in advanced ways using queues, threads, transactions, clusters or object stores.
Mule working with components

The building blocks of a Mule flow include optional message sources that receive messages triggering the flow, message processors that process messages in various ways, message processing blocks that combine processors, and endpoints that insert or extract data and implement transport channels.
Imap connector
The document summarizes the IMAP connector in Mule, which allows a Mule application to retrieve emails from an IMAP email server. The IMAP connector can only be used as an inbound endpoint with a one-way exchange pattern. It must be configured as the first endpoint in a flow and provides tabs to configure connection details like the IMAP server, username, and password. An example flow is provided that uses the IMAP connector to retrieve emails and write attachments to files.
Hdfs connector
The HDFS connector allows bi-directional integration between Mule applications and an Apache Hadoop instance. To use the connector, a global HDFS configuration element must be defined which specifies the nameNodeUri and username. The connector supports various HDFS operations like writing, reading, copying files etc. An example flow demonstrates creating a file by writing a payload to a path specified in the HTTP request.
Sftp connector
The SFTP Connector allows Mule applications to securely exchange files with external resources using the SSH protocol. It can be used as an inbound endpoint to receive files or an outbound endpoint to send files. When used as an inbound endpoint, it triggers flows when new files are received. Configuration involves placing the SFTP endpoint in the flow and configuring properties like the host, port, path, user and password on the General and Advanced tabs. An example flow shows an SFTP inbound endpoint pulling files and passing them to a file outbound endpoint.
Ftp connector
The FTP Connector allows Mule applications to exchange files with an external FTP server. The FTP endpoint can be configured as an inbound endpoint to receive files or an outbound endpoint to write files. The FTP endpoint is configured by providing properties for the host, port, path, username, and password on the FTP server. Example flows are provided to retrieve and upload files from/to an FTP server using the FTP Connector.

Ajax connector
- 2. Ajax Connector Ajax is an acronym for Asynchronous JavaScript and XML, a cluster of related technologies that facilitate the creation of asynchronous Web applications. The Ajax Connector, which can be configured as an inbound or outbound endpoint, creates a transport channel to send messages asynchronously to and from an Ajax server, which communicates with external Web resources.
- 3. Configuration Configuration of an Ajax endpoint typically requires two steps: Decide where you want to place the Ajax endpoint within your Mule flow, then drag it from the Palette to the appropriate place in the sequence of building blocks that make up your Mule flow. If you place the Ajax endpoint at the beginning of the flow, it acts as an inbound endpoint (such as in your message source). If you place the Ajax building block in the middle or at the end of the flow, it serves as an outbound endpoint. Configure the Ajax endpoint (and the Connector Configuration it depends on to define its transport channel) by providing values for the fields on the various tabs on the Ajax endpoint properties editor, which you open by double-clicking the Ajax icon on the Message Flow canvas.
