3. The idea of AI being a dangerous force has been a topic of dystopian sci-fi
novels and films for decades now. That idea has been ingrained in pop culture
so much that a lot of people are hesitant to embrace AI.

4. AI is amazingly capable in movies, like Jarvis in Ironman. The displays shown

commands and answers questions (if it knows what you're talking about).

12. UI/UX is similar to AI. It’s the main basis for an intelligence, letting us
learn from mistakes though operation and interaction. We won't make the
same mistakes again because humans as well as AI memorizes experiences.
In the end, the UX must be fluid enough to enable the AI to respond
intelligently.

can interact with without thinking about it and making the design transparent
and immersive.
AI is continually learning and UI/UX designers need to design for mistakes.
The Feedback loop is constant between user and AI so UI/UX needs to be fluid
enough to be able to respond to unexpected outputs.

16. For some time, automotive UIs have been dated, lacking and an afterthought.
The UI isn’t currently isn’t very smart or intuitive. In fact, it makes the
experience of using these interfaces frustrating, annoying, and time
consuming.
Autonomous and Semiautonomous vehicles are an opportunity for us to design
intelligently for UI and UX. We must design automotive UIs in a way that that
feel natural and effortless.

"Drivers should keep their hands on the wheel just in case."
Then Model S owners posted videos showing their Tesla's dangerously driving

18. Cars aren't ready to totally drive themselves. Even if they could drive
themselves, humans won't or aren't ready to trust them yet. How do we build
trust? We build it through designing an experience that the user doesn't need

going to do, before it's actually done.
They need to know what the car is seeing.

21. New interfaces and new systems need to be designed to transparently
communicate when a semiautonomous vehicle does something unexpected
(and why).
By establishing trust though design, people and the AI of semiautonomous
vehicles will learn how to handle this new driving experience together.

22. Artefact’s concept is used once the vehicle is in self-driving mode. The
dashboard interface adapts to show a low-fi view of what the car sees as it
drives with potential hazards in red.
If there is a person or object in the road, the dashboard shows the reason why
the car swerved or stopped.
If the car needs to re-route, a message appears on the dash explaining why
and forecasting a new arrival time.

24. As AI makes its way into more and products, it is important for us to
understand how it works in the context of product design.
UX/UI needs to be used in conjunction with AI to drive product goals. We need
to understand the problems AI will give us and find ways to solve them.
