We interviewed thirty of today's top thinkers in artificial intelligence to get a glimpse of what's coming next - the direction technology and applications will take over the next ten years.
Kai-Fu Lee at AI Frontiers : The Era of Artificial IntelligenceAI Frontiers
In this talk, I will talk about the four waves of Artificial Intelligence (AI) , and how AI will permeate every part of our lives in the next decade. I will also talk about how this will be different from previous technology revolutions -- it will be faster and be driven by not one superpower, but two (US and China). AI will add $16 trillion to our global GDP, but also cause many challenges that will be hard to solve. I will talk in particular about AI replacing routine jobs -- the consequences, the proposed solutions that don't work (such as UBI), and end with a blueprint of co-existence between humans and AI.

Marketers' Hopes and Fears for Artificial IntelligenceDavid Berkowitz
What do marketers expect from artificial intelligence? How will AI impact marketers' jobs? Will it play a bigger role in media buying or creative, account management or finance? What do marketers want to get out of it? Why should marketers care about it? And what can marketers learn from the leading thinkers about AI? All of this is covered in research first presented at IAB Conecta in Mexico City in August 2017.

This paper contends that the real understanding of natural language and the fulfillment of cloud computing cannot be reached without dealing with the significant sentimental factor. This paper points out that the achievement and enjoyment of cloud computing is highly reliant on break throughs in advanced intelligence. In this paper, advanced intelligence refers to the high level of interaction between natural intelligence and artificial intelligence.
We introduce intelligent computing language in the software so that machines can take decisions autonomously and in real time. By applying artificial intelligence to the cloud, we are hoping to develop a system through which computers can manage themselves. For example, computer scientists are looking to develop software that follows computers’ power consumption and regulates their operation according to the specific needs at any given time, thus reducing energy expenditure.
Implanting artificial intelligence into codes that will run in the cloud to improve efficiency is one of the strong research lines. Its part of a drive to create applications, executed in the cloud that goes beyond basic automation to anticipate situations and take decisions in real time over the Internet. Augmented intelligence in banking and capital marketsMitchell Feldman
Financial Services Organisations have been tangling with data since the very beginning, pioneering the use of analytics to derive insights for creating better, more profitable business models. But as we look ahead, the most impactful data-driven solutions will go well beyond analytics, and will include built-in intelligence based on deep learning technology that augments an organisation’s capabilities in compelling new ways. Solutions that see, hear, speak, and understand our needs and emotions—using natural methods of communication, enhanced by vast amounts of data from sources as varied as search engines, news, videos, and more—will transform every aspect of the business.

The intended audience of this group includes roles like machine learning engineers, data scientists, data engineers, software engineers, and PMs.This meetup was formerly Milvus Meetup, and is sponsored by Zilliz maintainers of Milvus.
The Building Blocks of QuestDB, a Time Series Databasejavier ramirez
Talk Delivered at Valencia Codes Meetup 2024-06.
Traditionally, databases have treated timestamps just as another data type. However, when performing real-time analytics, timestamps should be first class citizens and we need rich time semantics to get the most out of our data. We also need to deal with ever growing datasets while keeping performant, which is as fun as it sounds.
It is no wonder time-series databases are now more popular than ever before. Join me in this session to learn about the internal architecture and building blocks of QuestDB, an open source time-series database designed for speed. We will also review a history of some of the changes we have gone over the past two years to deal with late and unordered data, non-blocking writes, read-replicas, or faster batch ingestion.

Adjusting OpenMP PageRank : SHORT REPORT / NOTESSubhajit Sahu
For massive graphs that fit in RAM, but not in GPU memory, it is possible to take
advantage of a shared memory system with multiple CPUs, each with multiple cores, to
accelerate pagerank computation. If the NUMA architecture of the system is properly taken
into account with good vertex partitioning, the speedup can be significant. To take steps in
this direction, experiments are conducted to implement pagerank in OpenMP using two
different approaches, uniform and hybrid. The uniform approach runs all primitives required
for pagerank in OpenMP mode (with multiple threads). On the other hand, the hybrid
approach runs certain primitives in sequential mode (i.e., sumAt, multiply).
