Basics about agility.
Agile Manifesto, Principles and Practices
2nd July 2019
Agile Team Smells : Early Detection and Fixes by Anurag ShrivastavaXebia IT Architects
AgileNCR 2010 conference was held in Gurgaon on 17th & 18th July 2010. This largest community driven conference was the Fourth edition of Agile NCR and was organized in collaboration with ASCI. This time the event was based on four major themes : 'Agile for newbies', ' Agile Adoption Challenges', 'Workshops and Software Craftsmanship', and ' Post Agile'.
An Agile mindset believes that diverse teams with complementary skills are best equipped to thrive in today’s business environments.
Many organizations, working with Agile methodologies, talk about changing mindsets. I know from extensive experience that Agile principles and practices by themselves will not lead to this kind of transformation. A real Agile transformation is about not just doing Agile, but being Agile.
‘Follow Agile’ mindset will only help us get into the water but ‘Being Agile’ mindset will help us swim in the current. Most Agile implementations fail and their practitioners cannot tell why. Managers jump onto the Agile bandwagon, and quickly discover that the change runs much deeper and wider than they’d been told. Worse yet, people decide for or against Agile without understanding it properly. It does not have to be this way. This will be an interactive workshop leading toward the Agility.
The Team Assessment is a key part of the Team Coaching Framework used by agile42 to coach Agile teams. This workshop has been presented by Niels Verdonk and Konrad Pogorzala at agile42 Connect in Berlin, November 2015.

If we can’t be trusted we create a fear of conflict. The fear of conflict results in an intra-team lack of commitment. Lack of commitment ends up in an avoidance of accountability and an inattention to results.
This is called the five dysfunctions of a team. Let’s have a look at the root cause and a way to create trust and pride of delivery.
This presentation shows how to – with a few easy tools – motivate the right behavior with the Scrum beginners, and how to sustain and build more trust as the team evolves into a “producing” and a “performing” team.
Attendees should have basic understanding of Scrum at team level, and possibly already met some challenges that requires action. Scrum Masters, Product owners or Scrum Developers will gain the most. It’s a team tool – not a management tool.

It was repeatedly observed that as the number of Scrum teams within an organization grew, two major issues emerged:
* The volume, speed, and quality of their output (working product) per team began to fall, due to issues such as cross-team dependencies, duplication of work, and communication overhead.
* The original management structure was ineffective for achieving business agility. Issues arose like competing priorities and the inability to quickly shift teams around to respond to dynamic market conditions.
In this presentation I will show you how to counteract these issues, using Scrum@Sclae framework for effectively coordinating multiple Scrum teams was clearly needed which would aim for the following:
* Linear scalability: A corresponding percentage increase in delivery of working product with an increase in the number of teams.
* Business agility: The ability to rapidly respond to change by adapting its initial stable configuration.
Path to Agility: Outcome-Driven Transformation at Lean-Agile-Digital Transfor...Agile Velocity
In this live, online session, David Hawks explored how change agents can help their organizations bypass 5 common transformation pitfalls and accelerate their momentum towards true organizational agility.
Why Transformations Get Stuck - Global Scrum Gathering 2019 Agile Velocity
In this world of exponentially increasing market disruption, it is more imperative than ever for organizations to not only achieve operational agility (efficiency, speed, etc.), but also organizational agility (speed to respond to market change). Many companies are embarking on an Agile Transformation, but getting “lost in the desert” and not realizing the full agile benefits promised and needed. Traditional leadership paradigms, organizational structures, and culture all get in the way, as too many companies focus on team level change and framework implementation (Scrum and SAFe).
At Global Scrum Gathering 2019, David Hawks showed leaders how they can guide their organizations past these barriers and accelerate the momentum towards true organizational agility.

We operate in a world of exponentially increasing market disruption. It is more important than ever for organizations to achieve organizational agility, which is why many companies are embarking on Agile Transformations. However, few of them are realizing the full agile results promised--and needed.
In fact, over 50% of all Agile transformations fail.
In this webinar, David explored how leaders can guide their organizations past common barriers to transformation and accelerate momentum towards true organizational agility using a proven transformation framework, the Path to Agility®.
Key takeaways include:
- 4 impediments slowing down the transformation or preventing significant gains from Agile
- How an organization develops new capabilities by implementing Agile practices
- How those capabilities result in agile outcomes and better agility for an organization
- The ability to assess your current state of agility and where to focus efforts in the near term

Meetup with David Hawks and Bob Sarni – October 27, 2021
Intro to Path to Agility – an Outcome-Driven Agile Transformation Framework
About this virtual meetup
While many organizations operate in an Agile way, they are still not fully realizing Agile’s benefits. There has been tremendous focus on implementing all of the Agile practices without understanding if and how the various Agile frameworks, tools, and skills are driving results. Path to Agility is the solution to this growing problem. Path to Agility orients your Agile transformation around guiding business outcomes like speed, market responsiveness, and customer satisfaction. The Agile transformation framework then identifies the right Agile outcomes and capabilities that your organization should focus on to help you build your transformation roadmap.
Why 76% of Organizations are Failing at Agile - Agile Cincinnati April 2019Agile Velocity
Traditional leadership paradigms, organization structures, and culture all get in the way of agility, as too many enterprises focus on team level change and framework implementation (Scrum and SAFe). Explore how leaders can guide their organizations past these barriers and accelerate the momentum towards true organizational agility.
Why do so many organizations struggle to put in place mature Agile teams that can apply proper Agile principles and deliver awesome products? Some people will say, “Agile is hard” as an excuse to not do Agile or to become frAgile. Well we think we have developed the “Secret Sauce” to rebooting any Agile team that just doesn’t seem to be maturing and we want to share it with you!
If you are thinking of scaling Agile across a large organization, then this talk is a must to attend to help ensure your teams have the right foundation. Organizations wanting to scale Agile must have a solid foundation of mature Agile teams who embrace the Agile values and have the right Agile mindset.
Over the years, as we have done Agile transformations in different organizations, we have seen common patterns that keep repeating. The most common pattern we found in our experience is that teams are frAgile. Too many either pretend to be Agile or don’t even know Agile is not a methodology, so organizations question the value of using Agile. Very often the confusion and frustration that comes with thinking that a team is Agile when they are not Agile, brings people right back to their old habits of command and control. Creating successful mature Agile teams is not sorcery, you need to discover the secret sauce!
In this talk, we will reveal our secrets on how to create a successful Agile-Scrum team in 5 sprints. Attendees will learn how we applied our secret sauce as we experimented with more than 30 teams and we refined the know-how. This recipe has proven to be successful in different organizations and teams delivering different types of products. Our Creative-Destruction approach goes through a human change process we labeled The Intervention Plan. The 5 steps are:
Step 1: Run in the rain
Step 2: Thunderstruck
Step 3: Start the M&M pain machine
Step 4: Open-up and look at the sun
Step 5: Removing the training wheels
And by using these 5 steps, attendees will discover the 5th Agile value!
Path to Agility: Avoiding Common Pitfalls in Agile AdoptionAgile Velocity
Why do 53% of all Agile projects ultimately fail? Navigating common pitfalls can be hard to do. Find out which five hurdles to Agile adoption are the most challenging and how to implement a plan of action to overcome them.
Agile tour stuttgart 2013: Scrum and agility - Enjoy the journeyGunther Verheyen
Stuttgart, October 16 2013. 100 enthusiast people gathered to listen to presentations and share ideas on Agile.
I gave a closing note about Scrum, and how to look beyond Scrum and software development, to Enterprise Agility.
Core message said that both are about a journey, more than about a goal.
Nasty Impediments: Unclogging the pipe for personal, team, and business agility.
A business is only as fast and agile as its slowest feedback loop. Impediments clog feedback loops just like cholesterol clogs veins. Stacia helps to identify, plan a strategy for, and remove impediments at any level.
Why Agile Transformations Get Stuck - David Hawks, AgileCamp Dallas 2018Agile Velocity

Servant leadership for traditional managerWajih Aslam
When teams, product development and entire organizations move from traditional processes to Agile, we as Managers, have to be prepared for it. It’s a new world were teams are self-organizing, the project has no deadlines, and we as managers are no longer Kings on the Mountaintop.
Leadership and autonomous teams are the buzz-words of today so we as managers have to go through our own agile transformation in order to survive. In this interactive workshop we will discover together, through debate, learning and fun exercises try to find our new path as servant leaders.
Agile Roles: where does everyone fit in an agile organizationWajih Aslam
We will continue our agile transformation with a short recap of previous 2 meetups "The Agile Mindset" and "Agile processes and frameworks", and then quickly continue to talk about the agile roles and how these roles will be fit in side the organization.
This is session 3 out of 5 sessions with the goal to help all who joins to get started with an Agile transformation.
User Stories building blocks of products by Wajih AslamWajih Aslam
"User stories" are building blocks of the products. It brings concepts to tangible form. The quality and completeness of the features are critical for the customers, on the other hand, realistic sizing, estimations and completeness of a user story is critical for the teams to make their customers happy.
Mike Cohn has said it beautifully "User stories are a promise to have a conversation about the requirements" that indicates user stories are not requirements.
In this workshop, we will refresh the concept why user stories are "a promise of having conversation" and not requirements in themselves. Then we will dive into some of techniques used to break down user stories for realistic sizing, estimations and completeness taking a real product example.
On behalf of Lean and Agile Middle East (Dubai Chapter), I am excited to announce the series of 4 meetups which will cover the basics of Agile mindset, methodology and practices. Continuous improvement by the help of the popcorn flow Wajih Aslam
The world is keep changing that's why as an organization or as a professional we need to make sure that our internal rate of change is competing with the change happening outside the world. That's the only way we can be innovative and stay ahead of the competition.
A step towards change can impact positively or impact negatively to our goals but each step can be a major learning towards our journey of continuous improvement. Popcorn flow establish a continuous flow of small, traceable, co-created, explicit change experiments which can be performed by individuals and the teams to manage and visualize the continuous improvement of the organization.
The case study discusses the potential of drone delivery and the challenges that need to be addressed before it becomes widespread.
Key takeaways:
Drone delivery is in its early stages: Amazon's trial in the UK demonstrates the potential for faster deliveries, but it's still limited by regulations and technology.
Regulations are a major hurdle: Safety concerns around drone collisions with airplanes and people have led to restrictions on flight height and location.
Other challenges exist: Who will use drone delivery the most? Is it cost-effective compared to traditional delivery trucks?
Discussion questions:
Managerial challenges: Integrating drones requires planning for new infrastructure, training staff, and navigating regulations. There are also marketing and recruitment considerations specific to this technology.
External forces vary by country: Regulations, consumer acceptance, and infrastructure all differ between countries.
Demographics matter: Younger generations might be more receptive to drone delivery, while older populations might have concerns.
Stakeholders for Amazon: Customers, regulators, aviation authorities, and competitors are all stakeholders. Regulators likely hold the greatest influence as they determine the feasibility of drone delivery.

Editor's Notes
What is agile according to you?
Advantages of Agile
Disadvantages of Agile
Lets see some examples to know more about agility
Is it Shahid Afridi
OR Abdul Razzaq ------ BUT Why ?
Gumby
My own definition
IS Agility Reaction - Or Agility is Response
Difference between Reaction and Response
Women was driving a car and man was coming from opposite direction
Is change good for us ?
Mindset = Accept Change
Culture = Support Experiments - Fail safe environment
Positive Approach = Remove Fear / Bold
Knowledge and Experience = Prepared
Pragmatic = need to know Why / Not blind / Data driven
Self Organise = Habitual
