Life Goals
Goals are important because goals open a path to where a person is going and wants to achieve in life.
Also, goals can help a person to stay focus on things that I want to have in the future. A goal to get an
education is essential in life for it can lead to a prosperous future. To have a secure life after college, I
will need to get a stable job. Being part of a community, I would want to send awareness to the young
adults on doing the right things. The goals I want to achieve are to earn a college degree that I am
happy to have, have a job that will help me get the life that I want, and to help young adults to make
the right decisions.
My primary goal is to earn a degree that I am happy to have. The degree that I would want to have is
bachelor s in computer science because ever since I was a kid, I have always admired computers.
Growing up I have been more attached to computers, and I am inspired to know more about
computers such as how to solve technical problems or create applications for better efficiency.

A degree in computer science would make me happy because I have always loved computers. A job
that can grant me the things that I want and need. Being able to help young adults make the right
decisions are just as important because it can lead to a brighter future. Knowing what I want to
achieve gives me assurance in life, but I can only accomplish it if I work hard for it. Goals are a path
to accomplishing dreams that person desires to have. I believe that anyone can achieve their goals by
being positive through good or bad times, sacrificing something for better future, changing is also a
part of reaching a person s dream. Goals are a reminder to everyone on what they must

Targets of Satire in The Ultimate Hitchhiker’s Guide to...
Targets of Satire in The Ultimate Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy Douglas Adams satirizes many
targets in The Ultimate Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy. Adams came up with the idea for The
Ultimate Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy in a drunken haze in Germany while he was lying in a field
with the stars spinning over him (Adams, Douglas 12) which explains the style of humor, and the
satire in the novel, which does not appear to make sense at first, but eventually does. Adams almost
forgot about his idea for the novel (Gaiman 7). The Ultimate Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy
satirizes many targets, but especially government and religion. The Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy
began as an idea that Adams had, believe it or not, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Contrary to that fact of radical atheism, however, the satire of religion is generally mild. For example,
God does exist, but His final message to the Universe is We apologize for the Inconvenience (Adams,
Ultimate Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy, IV 665). However, other minor gods also exist, with Thor
being a recurrent character. Another particularly memorable moment is when Zarquon, a Jesus
surrogate character, returns to the Universe... a few seconds before the Universe ends (Galaxy, II 272),
demonstrating how Adams believes that even if religions are correct, that would not change much.
Finally, Adams satirizes religion very effectively with the in book device, the Hitchhiker s Guide to
the Galaxy Mk. II, which is a device which appears to be a bird, but has immense power. God indeed
exists in The Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy, but that s about the extent of His powers. His entire
involvement in the series is minimal. The opening words of one of the novels are In the beginning, the
Universe was created. This has made a lot of people angry and been widely regarded as a bad move
(Adams II, 176). So the first thing God does in the entire history of everything was a mistake, in
Adams s eyes. Next, when God sent Jesus, in the words of the novel, One man had been nailed to a
tree for saying how great it would be to be nice to people for a change (Adams I, 18). So, according to
Adams, God has almost no power to influence

Essay on Music Copyright Infringement
Music Copyright Infringement MP3 is an audio format that allows users to compress and send music
files easily over the Internet. The major problem with this music sharing is that most of the files are
pirated, which has caused a stir in the music industry. Music companies and music artists have been
complaining about how their music is being stolen and therefore lowering their album sales. The
major blame has been put on Napster and other file sharing software available on the Internet.
Napster was a music sharing software that was shut down because of copying and distributing
unauthorized MP3 files that violated the United States and foreign copyright laws. One of the major
reasons why Napster was shutdown is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both these softwares allowed online users not only to share music files but any files that they had
including video and picture files.
The ongoing file sharing of music on the Internet has caused the loss of millions of dollars for the
music industries. Instead of people going to the store and purchasing CD s from their favorite music
artists, they are going on the Internet and downloading their songs for free. Downloading one song can
take as fast as thirty seconds, which means that a person can download an entire album in less then 10
minutes. After downloading these songs in MP3 format, a person can easily burn the songs onto a
music CD using a CD writer. This is how easy it is for a person to make their own CD and spend
much less money doing so. A CD normally ranges from ten to twenty dollars in price. But if you were
to make your own CD it can cost anywhere from fifty cents to three dollars. This depends on what
quality CD s you use or how cheap you buy them for. Downloading your own music and making your
own CD s cuts down the price around 90 percent. This means that as more and more people purchase
CD writers, the music industry will be losing more and more money.

Newton s Third Law Of Motion Research Paper
Newton s third law of motion also applied to the baseball and enhances baseball. Newton s Third Law
of Motion states that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction . (책) Baseball players,
especially outfielders understand this as a baseball that goes up should come down. () Newton s third
law claims that whenever an object uses force on another object, the second applies an equal and
opposite force from the first object. So, when the ball hits and reaches to the bat, the bat uses a force
on the ball that equals of the ball on the bat. Also, there is a net force on the ball due to the forces
acting on different bodies even these forces are both equal and opposite. (*) Additionally, 뉴턴의 운

to each other and as well as the rotational mechanics. ($) In addition, skillful players use Newton s
third law to improve their play and to calculate the time taken for a ball to be thrown by the fielder to
reach the target base. For example, Hall of Fame leadoff hitter Ricky Henderson used his velocity and
the laws of motion to hit, get on base and obtain records of 1,406 bases. ( ).To sum up, Newton s third
law of motion is applied to baseball closely and improved this sport with several physical concepts.
In conclusion, Newton s three laws of motions are applied in several parts of baseball play and this
sport has been enhanced through applications of laws of motion. A lot of skillful players are using this

Superior Security is a company designed to protect families and businesses in the metro Atlanta area.
Superior Security is a company established in 1996 by Levi Atkinson with the protection of families
and businesses in mind. Levi wanted to be able to give the community he lived in and those around
him a feeling of security. Superior Security has grown into a company that has now serviced and
installed countless security systems throughout the Atlanta and Metro area. Levi was often heard
telling employees the company motto Your security is our business . Levi wanted to start this business
and vetted his daughter Michelle Atkinson to take over the company after him.
I met Michelle as a previous student at Georgia State University and she mentioned to me that she was

Atkinson recommends that anyone entering into this career should learn the competition, and what
makes each company unique. She stated to know where each competitors strong points lay, and then
implement those points into your company. For example ADT is one of the largest security companies
in the nation, however their customers aren t satisfied. ADT s customers aren t satisfied because they
don t feel like a priority but instead just another number. Knowing the competitors weak points can
also be an advantage. Knowing these weak points enable your company to expand, filling the needs
those customers feel they aren t receiving. As far as installations, Michelle suggested if I had any other
questions I should talk with technicians. Technicians are the ones out in the homes installing the
equipment, technicians see more of the face to face customer interaction. Ms. Atkinson said that she
wanted to spread the business of security to students, so she wanted to implement an internship

Liberal and Radical Approaches in Zambia
The main argument of this essay is to compare and contrast the liberal and radical approaches to social
change. Accompanied by practical examples, I will state and re enforce the theoretical approach that
plausibly explains the prevailing circumstances in Zambia. This essay will begin by defining briefly
what the liberal and radical approaches are; also it will explain what is understood by the term social
change. It is also necessary to point out that I have taken a stand on agreeing that the liberal approach
takes a crediblestance in explaining the prevailing circumstances in Zambia. In this essay I will
explain how this is and compare and contrast it with the radical approach.
Social change refers to an alteration in the social order of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This may be true in its own sense, but not true in explaining the statuses in Zambia. Currently, Zambia
is a capitalist country and in any case capitalism is getting stronger in the country and world wide. The
next stage after capitalism (communism) is not in effect and does not show signs of dawning in
Zambia any time in the near future.
Although I have determined which approach describes situations happening in Zambia, differences
between the radical and liberal approaches should be determined. The main difference is that the
liberal approach advocates for capitalism and freedom were as the radical approach was developed to
eradicate capitalism; this was eminent at a time when capitalism in Europe had developed to a stage
when it created a lot of poverty and suffering to the working class and other inferior classes of the
capitalist system. Also, liberalism or the liberal approach tends to ultimately lead to the emergence of
imperialism were it takes an apologetic stance in imperialism. Imperialism is the extension of control
or authority over foreign areas (countries). In other words it s the suppression of country A to country
B politically, socially and economically; the direct control of one country over another in many
dimensions. The radical approach on the other hand advocates on the emergence of communism as the
ultimate and reasonable outcome. Communism describes a society were conflicts are not present.

Immortality In Gilgamesh
The epic of Gilgamesh tells a story about a half human half god man searching for life answers. It
highlights the basic of human nature, human fears, desires, and needs. The main character Gilgamesh
has these characteristics of humankind with intense strength and the position of power from his god
like background. The first thing the audience learns from the story is that Gilgamesh builds protective
walls around the city, a great gift to his society. When the audience next learns that the king has been
abusive to the young men of the city and has deflowered young maidens, their disapproval of these
acts is tempered by their initial approval of his great accomplishment. Overall, the early portions of

Synthetic Phonics In Children
All phonics involves teaching letter sound letters. The adjective synthetic refers to the fact that
children are taught to synthesise (i.e. put together or build up) pronunciations for unfamiliar written
words by translating letters into sounds and blending the sounds together ( blending = synthesising ).
Analytic phonics focuses more on the analysis of words after they have been identified in some other
way for example by being supplied by the teacher, recognised as sight words or guessed from pictures
or context. Children learn from synthetic phonics as they understand how a letter is pronounced such
as when reading a story you could explain to the children aaaa so they know how to say the letter a

Migrant Groups Are More At Risk Of Developing Mental Disorder
Today there are approximately 1 billion migrants in the world out of which 214 million are
international migrants and 740 million are internal migrants. This wide range of population include
workers, undocumented migrants, students, refugees and others, with each having different needs,
health determinants and vulnerability. The health needs of this large population are considerable
(WHO, 2015). Migration is a stressful experience and not all of the migrants respond to the stress
similarly. The response of individual can be influenced by multiple factors like personal, social and
cultural. Some of these factors are aggravated by the loss of social support system, cultural values,
religious norms, changes in own identity and adjustment to a new culture. These stresses related to
migration impact the mental health of migrants and there are strong evidences which suggest that
certain migrant groups are more at risk of developing mental disorder. Moreover, the rate of mental
illness is also increased among migrants (Bhugra, Gupta, Bhui, Craig, Dogra Ingleby, 2011). The loss
of culture and social support cause grief which is a healthy reaction and natural consequence of

Reflective Essay On Yoga
What is yoga to you? Most people would say it s a form of exercise, or maybe some would say it will
improve your flexibility. Well to Natalie Bell it s so much more than that. Natalie sees yoga as a way
of life, as a form of spirituality and becoming one with the body and mind, and of course it keeps her
flexible and in shape as well. I met Natalie through my mother she is her friend and yoga instructor
and a very interesting person who I wanted to learn more about. I was curious what would interest
someone in a life dedicated to yoga, and how exactly one becomes a yogi or master of yoga and gets
into teaching it. I learned that Natalie took a 500 hour course in the Yoga Teacher Training program at
the Therapeutic Approach Yoga Studio located in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Here she learned the skills to
be able to instruct a class and mastered a form of yoga called Hatha Vinyasa. I learned interestingly
enough that there is not one type of yoga but actually around 20 different kinds of yoga you can learn.
However I really wanted to learn why she d be so interested in this and I found out that she is an avid
traveller and during a trip to India when she was younger she met yogi s and lots of hindu people and

Sympathy For Peace In The Film Hacksaw Ridge
The soldier above all others prays for peace, for it is the soldier who must suffer and bear the deepest
wounds and scars of war. (Douglas MacArthur). Soldiers are the people who are the most adamant in
praying for peace because they are the ones that fight and die. These scenes of death and bravery and
desiring peace are displayed in a film by Mel Gibson titled Hacksaw Ridge. In the film, Hacksaw
Ridge, director Mel Gibson kept some events from The Battle of Okinawa the same but changed some
of the events leading up to the film in order to set the plot and create sympathy for the characters The
movie, Hacksaw Ridge, depicted true events from The Battle of Okinawa, that portray the real life

commonly found in the upper respiratory tracts as a normal flora in humans. S. pneumoniae is the
most common cause of community acquired pneumonia where children are identified as the primary
carriers (Choa, 2014). S. pneumoniae is so common that health care providers have noted key
characteristics, making it apparent to detect and diagnose. More importantly, the common phenotypic
features of S. pnuemoniae are characterized by its colonic morphology being that it is lancet shaped,
catalase negative, optochin sensitivity and bile solubility. Pursuing this further, it is important to
follow strict testing procedures to distinguish which pathogen is preset, according to their

further differentiation is made by the presence of a hemolytic pattern of partial hemolysis on the blood

is used to determine a specific classification of all Streptococcus bacteria. The chemical, optochin, is

A Lesson Of Oppression By Nella Larsen
A Lesson in Oppression From the beginning of time and around the world, women have been
subjected to patriarchal oppression in various forms. From economic hardships such as wage gaps or
an inability to own property, to social mores such as submission in marriage and sexual
objectification, women are systematically treated as second class citizens without a voice. African
American women have faced these gendered challenges in addition to racial discrimination in the
forms of slavery, unfair taxation, red lining, unequal access to education and derogatory media
representation to name a few. Passing by Nella Larsen portrays two African American women as main
characters who experience racial and gender oppression in various ways. Webster s Dictionary defines
oppression as: the state of being subject to unjust treatment or control, prolonged cruel or unjust
treatment or control; mental pressure or distress. Larsen s story delves into social and feminist issues
of oppression such as loss of identity, oppressiveness of marriage, women s independence relating to
women s lack of independence, the importance of marriage in society, how race and class function in
society, and how relationships are dictated by race, class, and gender.
Many of the issues explored in the story were likely experiences by the author herself. Similar to the
main character Irene, Nella Larsen was an African American of mixed descent from Chicago, who
lived in New York, and was married to a

Persuasive Essay On Guns
In 2001, 12,102 murders were caused by gun violence, 17,424 suicides from guns, 366 people died to
accidents involving guns, 316 deaths by guns had unknown reasons, and only 154 were confirmed to
be in self defense. 30,708 deaths from guns in total, and only 154 out of 30,708 deaths were self
defense. Those statistics are alarming. Guns are not being used with the intent to defend yourself.
Guns are being used in today s society for celebration, murders, for sport and gang activity. Guns are
used for war, by the police force and on drill teams. Guns should not be used in such instances where
citizens can harm and even kill others . They should only be utilized to protect their loved ones,
themselves and their valuables, not used as tools of murder, suicide and gang activity.
The Gun Owners Foundation says that guns save more lives than they take and prevent more injuries
than they inflict. This is not true at all, however. The usage of guns for self defense to not self defense

Prejudice-Reduction Techniques
Prejudice Reduction Techniques could be referring to a collection of techniques designed to break
down these destructive stereotypes. Most often prejudice reduction programs take place on a small
scale in workshops, for example, which bring together people from different groups to help them
develop a better mutual understanding. At times, efforts are made to reduce prejudice among the
general population. This can be done with widespread media efforts and/or public education programs,
often implemented during the grade school years.
Prejudices are present for a reason. It simplifies the world and makes it easier to understand. That

I have automatically assumed that all Asian people don t speak English well. Maybe this is enforced
by the movies that I have watched, but even now I still find it quite surprising when I anticipate an

order to get rid of this prejudice, categorization (as described by the textbook) should allow me to only
assign this prejudice in scenarios where it is acceptable. For example, I shouldn t automatically

Summary Of Fridman s Definition Of A Geek
The author, Fridman, begins to form his position (defending unappreciated intellectuals) by defining
the term geek . A geek, is a street performer who entertains the public by biting off the heads of live

appalling term and society is terrible for using this term to allude an intellectually curious person is a

Compare And Contrast Essay Good Vs Evil
Good vs. Evil There are numerous things that citizens of this world are afraid of. A huge example is
public speaking. Getting up in front of many peers, friends, advisors, and role models can intimidate,
frighten, or discourage us in many different ways. The fear that others will judge or think less of us is
scary and can be a gigantic blow to our pride. Often times, feelings of anxiety join the scene, making
the situation as terrible as it can possibly be. Many of these feelings that have been mentioned
contribute to the reason why humans like to stay in their comfort zones and do the things that they
have always done, for fear that people may judge them, or they might fail. Another common fear that
people have is dying. For many religiously active people, this topic is the least of their worries, but for
others, they can t help but worry about what will become of them once they leave this earth. Will they
be remembered for how amazing and confident they were? Will people feel a rush of relief and

During funerals, relatives and close friends of the person who has perished usually speak about or
discuss the things that they accomplished in their lives. They focus on the highs in their life and the
great moments that took place during their peaks. For example, if a teenager died in an unexpected car
accident, their mom would undoubtedly talk about how awesome a child they were, how blessed they
were as a parent, and how much they re going to miss them in the future. The sins that we have
committed in our lives are forgotten and people tend to focus on the bright sides of our lives. Part of
the reason for this is empathy, and the fact that, as humans, we have all sinned at some point in our
lives or another. Nonetheless, it cannot be denied that the deaths of modern people are remembered in

The Wizard Of Oz By L. Frank Baum
The conspiracy regarding the Illuminati has circulated for several years. This theory states that, there
is a global elite society that is either in control or seeking to take control of the world (Citation).
Beliefs regarding the Illuminati conspiracy are prevalent in recent books and movies, reaching the cult
fiction perception. A significant example is The Wizard of Oz, written by L. Frank Baum. The history
behind The Wizard of Oz proves that this story line has had an essential role in the occult world all

and unworldly mysteries. The Wizard of Oz is comprised of remarkable stories and vibrant characters
that categorize it as an American classic (Citation). However, the author who created the Wizard of Oz

Tax Policy Persuasive Essay
As we approach election day, both front runners; Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton have proposed
their policies if they were to take office. Hillary Clinton is advocating to increase tax on the top one
percent, while Donald Trump wishes to cut tax (especially for the wealthy and middle class). Trumps
policy mirrors the trickle down system; where we cut tax on the rich, leaving them with more money
in which we assume they will invest. Yet, we have seen this to be a failure since the rich do not invest
their money, rather, they save it. Trump s proposal is more of a tax relief when compared to Secretary
Clinton s plan, however, Trump s proposal could cause more problems to rise.
Next, both front runners must find funding to implicate their policies. Hillary Clinton s policies will
cost about $1.8 trillion, however, her offsets match up to the price. Despite Clinton s dedication to pay
for her policies, she is not healing the U.S. debt. Debt held by the public would rise from 74% GDP to

The basis of a strong economy is founded among a strong middle class. This would increase consumer

should stray away from Trump s immigration policy getting rid of anyone undocumented in the U.S.
since it dilutes consumer spending (immigrants contribute $12 billion to the economy). A successful

Lack Of Women s Rights Of Muslim Women
The rights of women have been debated in communities around the world for centuries. Many
religions have agreed that women deserve to have the basic rights of men, but in the Muslim world,
men are allowed to decide which rights, if any, their sisters, daughters, wives, female cousins, and
even mothers can express. Islamic men should not have this extreme power over women. Many
Muslim feminists, including some men, have tried to stand up to this nonsense and have been
murdered for standing up for the rights the Qur an has given them. The typical Muslim woman is

Summary Of The American Bowl By Michael Pollan Paradox
The essay The American Paradox by Michael Pollan focuses on the eating habits of people in the
United States. He especially emphasizes how American think when it comes to eating healthy food.
Pollan talks about the American Paradox, an unhealthy obsession with eating right thing. The author
relates the idea of cultural food and healthy food to claim his main point of the argument. He believes
that culture is one factor which answers three primary questions of what to eat, the amount to eat, and
the time and place to eat. In the past, people themselves answered these three questions without any

happiness and food. She believes that comfort food has the ability to completely change people s
mood. In the essay, she mentions an experiment where participants were asked to provide two types of
food, comfort food which makes them happy and regular food. Later in the experiment, they were

participants were disturbed with the video and so then they began to crave for comfort food which

Boundaries In Beowulf
Humans Create Their Place in the World Through analyzing Beowulf, there is a common theme
throughout the book of proximity and transgression of boundaries. The author creates the proximity of
boundaries by having the Hall, (good), within walking distance of the forest, (bad), and the
transgression of boundaries by having Beowulf enter the mere. These examples within the text
correlate to boundaries that are seen within our modern world. Proximity of boundaries can be viewed
by the closeness of industry and community, and the transgressions can be seen with foreign
interference. These transgressions and proximities of boundaries illustrate how humans create and
protect their own place in the world by controlling proximity and transgressing boundaries when
necessary. In Beowulf, there are several boundaries that have an extremely near proximity to one
another. The most evident example of the proximity of boundaries is the forest and Hrothgar s Hall.
The forest was seen as a, dark, and mysterious place that was associated with the evil creatures in the
book, whereas the Hall was associated with celebration and a sense of safety for the people. The
Danes built Hrothgar s hall with the realization that the forest was in close proximity to their place of
safety. This example illustrates that the Danes created their place within their environment. Although
there are some set boundaries that humans have no control over, such as night and day, there is a large
impact on how humanity creates boundaries and their place in the world. In our modern day world,
there are numerous examples of how humans have pushed the limits of creating boundaries within
close proximity of one another. In Andrew Blackwell s novel, Visit Sunny Chernobyl, he explores a
refinery town within Texas called Port Arthur. Blackwell explains the overwhelming proximity of the
refineries to the city of Port Arthur, and even gives an example of a child s playground and the
immediacy of the refineries. He states, Several hundred yards beyond the playground were the storage
tanks of the Motiva refinery, and beyond them the refinery itself, illustrating that humans created a
refinery, associated with pollutants and darkness in our society, within

A Comparison of Irony in Crime and Punishment and A...
Use of Irony in Crime and Punishment and A Doll s House
There are many links between Crime and Punishment, by Fyodor Dostoyevsky and A Doll s House, by
Henrik Isben. Each character goes through many ironic situations. Throughout both of the works
dramatic, situational, and verbal irony are used.
Dramatic irony is used throughout Crime and Punishment. The reader knows that Rodion
Romanovitch Raskolnikov killed the pawnbroker, Alyona Ivanovna, and her sister, Lizaveta Ivanovna.
A quote to support this is,
He took the axe right out, swung it up in both hands, barely conscious of what he was doing, and
almost without effort, almost effort, almost mechanically, brought the butt of it down on the old
woman s head. (Dostoyevsky ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In A Doll s House the reader is aware that Nora borrowed money from Krogstad without her husband
s permission. Nora also forged her father s name to gain the money. She says, You don t know all. I
forged a name. (Isben 44) In the following conversation between Nora and Christine it is clearly stated
that Torvald does not know of Nora s actions: Mrs. Linde. And since then have you never told your
secret to your husband? Nora. Good heavens, no! (Isben 13)
Another example of dramatic irony in A Doll s House is when Nora wants to practice a dance called
the Tarantella. When Torvald goes to look in the letter box Nora says, Torvald please don t. There is
nothing in there. (Isben 46) The reader knows that Nora has not forgotten the dance. The reader knows
this when Torvald goes to check the mail and Nora begins to play the Tarantella. Nora then says, I can
t dance to morrow if I don t practise with you. (Isben 46) The reader knows that all Nora is trying to
do is keep Torvald from reading the mail which contains a letter from Krogstad.
Situational irony is also used throughout the two works. In Crime and Punishment Raskolnikov is the
one who murdered the two sisters. It was totally unexpected when Nikolai came to

Queensland Bulls Research Paper
The Queensland Bulls Cricket Team Queensland s Premier Male Cricket Team Since 1882
Queensland s Cricket History Cricket can be seen in Queensland as early as 1857, two years before its
separation from New South Wales and statehood. The first inter colonial, or representative, match was
in 1864 when the Queensland XXII was beaten by the New South Wales XI. They would record their
first victory in 1875 when the Queensland XVIII beat the NSW XI. This victory was the spark behind
the formation of the Queensland Cricket Association the following year. In 1892/93, ten years after the
formation of the Queensland Bulls, they were granted first class status, winning their inaugural first
class match against NSW in that season by 14 runs. Due to the tyranny of distance, and the fact that
the players held non professional status, the opportunities for more than a few first class competitions
were limited. During the 1892/93 season they rarely played more than two inter colonial matches. ...

They were finally admitted to the Sheffield Shield 34 years later for the 1926/27 season. It was a
successful debut for them, defeating NSW in their first ever Shield match. Like most new teams it was
hard for them to maintain that level of competition. During the first 19 seasons they finished last (out
of the then four team competition) 15 times. Queensland has gained momentum over the years and
had gone on to win the Sheffield Shield seven times: 1995, 1997, 2000 2002, 2006, and 2012. They
have also won the One Day Cups ten times: 1976, 1981 1982, 1989, 1998, 2007, and 2013 2014.

existence of multi party and lack of coordination between parties with similar background and

Essay On Matching Method
Thank you very much for the points of missing important assumptions and justifications of my

these assumptions, limitations, and potential violation(s).
The evaluating causal effect of outside directors dissention on the firm value is difficult, because it is
almost impossible to observe the individual effect. However, it is possible to estimate and compare the

This is also reported by two recent studies that a dissention is a function of firm characteristics (Jiang
et al., 2016; Ma and Khanna, 2015). It is also a strong assumption in general because it is very
difficult to find and control all possible confounding variables.
However, with a practical point of view, the conditional independence (or unconfoundedness) is
stronger than the assumption used in statistical software. It means that the treatment does not influence
on the conditional mean of each potential outcomes after controlling the covariates. In this study, it is
possible to show that general firm characteristics are similar between the treatment group and the
control group except firm value. Therefore, it is possible to hold the conditional mean independent
assumption after matching a sample, although it is difficult to hold the conditional independent
assumption.
Another assumption in this approach is the overlap assumption that each firm have a positive
probability of having a dissention. There is no difference in the chance of dissention between a firm in
the treatment group and a firm in the control group. Statistically, it can be tested in a statistical
software. Please see the Stata results using teffects ipw and teffects overlap. Thank you very much for

I Know About Breeding A Dog Essay
In 2015 for christmas I had recieved a female Australian Shepherd puppy. She is a blue merle with
brown eyes. When I first got her I loved her and couldn t wait for her to be old and have puppies of
her own. What I didn t understand is how difficult of a process it was to get a dog bred. I didn t know
the first thing about breeding a dog. However if I wanted my dog to have puppies then I needed to
learn about it.
I know that a dog comes in heat roughly every six months. I know it is during that time period the they
would get bred. Some things I have heard from my family was that a bitch has to be bred at certain
times. They will only stand and allow breeding a certain numbers of days. I have no knowledge of
when that takes place. I know that a bitch s cycle can last for weeks. The only way I would know
when my dog needs bred is to put her in with a male and see if she allows him to breed her.
When you don t have a male dog that is hard to do. Picking a male for her is a hard task. When
breeding Australian Shepherd you have to be cautious about which types are bred. I know that you
should not breed a merle to a merle because it cause defects. I am not for sure why this happens so
picking a dog needs to be done carefully.

question of when can we get the smooth road trip feel; for our kids and our teachers. Education puts
into perceptive how out of control necessities can get. A lot of parents are losing money and sleep over
choosing a school for their children. Using three theories , we can try and sway an audience to peruse
better legislation to amend the situation, that effects everyone. Using structural functionalism, we can
see the very positive and beneficial side of the education system. The reasons that many people don t
want to change the system because if it ain t broke don t fix it . Using social solidarity is a good way
to make students fell they are part of something bigger (revisesociology). A founder of functionalism
Emile Durkheim argued that school was a small society that we test ourselves in before entering the
real society. Using many English and History classes we can see ourselves as one some sort of shared
image in a way (revisesociology). There are many other benefits of the education system like teaching

Abu Ghraib Torture Essay
The acts of torture performed on the inmates at Abu Ghraib were both cruel and inhumane. But what if
the reason the guards tortured the inmates was due to the result of obedience from their superiors. The
cause of the torture of the prisoners at Abu Ghraib could have stemmed from situational factors
instead of the will of a few aggressive soldiers. Authority figures that use persuasive methods can be
very influential. There are many circumstantial possibilities as to why the guards treated the prisoners
cruelly. Most people don t attribute the torture to many situational and external causes. In this case,
most people attribute the torture to the internal faults of the guards when it could very well be outside
sources at fault. Fear ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Issue involvement is a type of involvement in which the attitudinal issue under consideration has
important consequences for the self (Franzoi, 2003, Pg 217). Once again, fear could have been an
issue in the persuasion of the guards. The guards realized that they had to do their jobs and act in
compliance with orders or face the consequences. In many of the torture pictures at Abu Ghraib, the
prisoners are wearing bags on their heads or something to mask their face. The supervisors of the jail
could have masked the inmates to make the guards feel less responsible about the vicious acts. Since
the victim was masked and cannot tell who is torturing them, a kind of separation is created between
the guard and the inmate. The results are also unequivocal in relation to the distance from the direct
exertion of violence: the greater the distance, the less the subjects feel responsible and the greater the
obedience (Meeus Raaijmakers 159). By masking the prisoners a sense of deindividualization and lack
of self awareness occurred because the soldier knows that the inmate does not know who he/she is.
Without such self awareness, the deindividuated don t think of themselves as separate individuals and
do not attend to their own inner values and behavioral standards (Franzoi 336). With this sense of
deindividualization, the guards performed actions they normally would not ever do. Since they
remained anonymous with the

Asset Light Strategies Are the Only Way Ahead for...
Topic 6: Asset light strategies are the only way ahead for international hospitality companies.
In the topic asset light strategies refers to international hospitality companies owning less assets.
Assets are items of economic value owned by an individual or corporation, especially that which
could be converted to cash (www.investorwords.com). The various different strategies international
hospitality companies use in order to lighten their assets could be by franchising, management
contracts and offshoring (also known as outsourcing). Each of these strategies will be explained in
depth throughout the essay. The reason why businesses would want to have fewer assets is because
they want to get out of having asset heavy balance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The operator runs the hotel for a fee according to specified terms negotiated with the owner; the most
common of these terms are described below in more detail (www.hospitalitynet.org). However by
hospitality companies using management contracts to run companies then they can gain from
economies of scale, gain brand recognition and obtain a global reservation system. Alternatively there
are some downfalls to management contracts such as conflict of interest (Outcome and behaviour
control).
Outsourcing is a business process term for what has literally become known as hiring a consultant,
independent contractor, or freelancer to do a specific task or tasks for an organization in which the
organization either does not have the time or the expertise to do on their own
(www.internetbasedmoms.com). Outsourcing is commonly said to be the same as offshoring but with
the increase in globalisation the distinction between the two has and will become less overtime.
Outsourcing is commonly used in business segments such as real estate management, human
resources, facilities, accounting, information technology and in this case in the hospitality industry. In
the hospitality industry, more specifically in hotels functions such as Reservation/ Loyalty Contact

Gateway to Sexual Attraction
WST 3015 Intro to Women s Studies Gateway to Sexual Attraction? I bleach my skin because it makes
me more appealing to men. Some girls who are black themselves, say they don t want a black man,
they want a man with light complexion (Tafari Ama). These are quotes by Jamaican commentators
who believe that lightening one s complexion is the gateway to sexual attraction and gaining a
potential spouse. Sexual attraction and colorism has been synonymous as early as British colonialism
and more contemporarily in newspaper ads dating back to the 1950s (Charles 2003). Trauma, as
defined by Merriam Webster online, is a very difficult or unpleasant experience that causes someone
to have mental or emotional problems usually for a long time (Merriam Webster). Skin bleaching is a
byproduct of deep seated and haunting identity trauma inflicted by Europeans through slavery and
colonialism of the Americas and Caribbean. Due to this trauma, women have interpreted bleaching
their skins as a way to increase their sexual attractiveness. Colorism, as defined by Margaret Hunter of
the Sociology and Anthropology Department of Mills College is a function of racism and social
stratification, first introduced by Europeans during the colonization of the New World. Through
colorism, an institutionalized hierarchy of complexion was developed. Thus making skin color an
identifier and a way to racially oppress those who have not assimilated (Hunter 2007). Similar to

Don t Drop Out By Article
Congratulations on getting your article Don t Drop Out published. After reading the piece it has for
certain committed me to finishing my undergraduate degree. I m sure it is going to have the same
impact on almost all your readers. I say this with full confidence because you are speaking from
personal experience as someone who was on the verge of dropping out but decided to stay in the fight
till the end. You ve produced an effective article and I wouldn t change much to it. As a fellow
colleague and writer I do have some minor suggestions for you to consider. I would like to thank you
once again for giving me this chance to offer you my opinion on your article.
You start off your article by sharing your experience with the readers, who are most likely college
students and possibly some that are contemplating about dropping out. This allows you to establish
credibility with the reader right away and gain their attention. Then you go on to offer reasons why
you should stay in college or drop out. You give reasons from both sides of the fence and elaborate on
how you decided to stay in school out of understanding all the benefits to be gained. Hence the reason
you re writing this article so other students can learn from your experience and attain the same
understanding. Then you go on to explain in detail the value of a college education versus dropping
out and joining some start up company. Your article was effective in accomplishing its goal. Which I
think is to

In information retrieval concept, metadiator is the one who helps to support the interaction between
the user and the information resource.
There are two main approaches to IR, which are statistical approach and semantic approach. In a
statistical approach, documents are analyzed and broken down into chunks of text and each word or
phrase is counted, weighted, and measured for relevance or importance. Meanwhile, semantic
approaches to IR use knowledge based techniques of retrieval the broadly rely on the syntactic,
lexical, sentential, discourse based, and pragmatic levels of knowledge understanding. In practice,
semantic approaches also apply some form of statistical analysis to improve the retrieval process.
Question 2.
Highlight the differences between data and information.
Data and information are related. Once data is processed, it calls information. But data is raw, plain
and unprocessed item and need to be processed. Data itself is useless until it is organized. Meanwhile,
information is a collection of data after it process. Generally, there are three main differences between
data and information such as their meaning, example and definition.
In the context of meaning, data is something plain, raw, unorganized facts that need to process to be
meaningful while information is a collection of many data that is meaningful to the user. For example,

To Kill A Mockingbird Hypocrisy Analysis
José Emilio Pacheco says We are all hypocrites. We cannot see ourselves or judge ourselves the way
we see and judge others. Hypocrisy is demonstrated and observed on an everyday basis in our society,
and even in the rural town of Maycomb in the 1930s it is evident as well. In To Kill a Mockingbird,
two children by the names of Scout and Jem start to see hypocrisy more and more frequently because
of the events that happen to unfold. This includes , including an african american young man accused
of something he did not do. This amazing novel by Harper Lee shows that hypocrisy is closely linked
to privilege, and a dominating opinion about others. The characters Miss Gates and Mrs. Merriweather
are great examples of hypocrisy and Atticus is a great counterexample, showing an effort of being
larger than others in Maycomb. Miss Gates demonstrates hypocrisy in the novel. It is shown when she
is speaking to Scout s class. She is teaching about Hitler, speaking about how he does not treat
everybody equally. She expresses her beliefs against prejudice and the persecution of those who aren t
like her. This is hypocritical because she does not treat everybody equally in her own town, and yet
she is teaching the opposite of her actions. Miss Gates says, Over here we don t believe in persecuting
anybody. Persecution comes from people who are prejudice. (Lee 281) This shows what Miss Gates is
teaching to her students and it makes Scout confused because she knows that Miss Gates is

How Hailey Became Literate As Pi Beta Phi
How Hailey Became Literate in Pi Beta Phi Literacy is a wide known understanding, used in all
aspects of society. Anywhere you go, the stage of your literacy in given situations is tested. Literacy
ranges in places like the home, at work, teams, and so much more. When asked to interview someone,
and dive into the aspect of their literacy of a given community, I instantly knew what I wanted to do. I
recently joined the sisterhood of Pi Beta Phi, and even more recently was given a Big Sister , that I
will now have as a part of my life, forever. Her name is Hailey Thomsen, and she is a junior at the
University of Central Florida, and was the perfect person to interview for this project. Hailey is a tall,

When we got their, and were officially given the title of twins , I have never ran so fast in my life, as
we did into Hailey s arm. From that day, we have been the most inseparable family, and I cannot
picture what my life was like before I had them. Swales defines a discourse community as the
increasingly common assumption that discourse operates within conventions defined as communities,
by academic or social goals. (page 217) Swales himself defined discourse community with six specific
characteristics, but within the community of Pi Beta Phi, your literacy is based off of our 6 core
values. Integrity, lifelong commitment, leadership, Personal and intellectual growth, Philanthropic
Service to others, and Sincere friendship. Integrity is defined as the quality of being honest and hold
strong morals and principles. As a Pi Phi woman, Hailey shows integrity with everything she does.
Whenever a sister is faced with a tough situation, they know they can go to Hailey without judgment,
and with a positive perspective. With every obstacle a sister may approach, the value of integrity holds
the sisters of Pi Phi true to each other. Before joining Pi Phi Hailey sad she hoped to gain a support
system. She stated, I came to college a recluse and gained my confidence to push myself and go
outside my comfort zone to better myself. Quickly through her time in Pi Phi, up to this point, she
realized she gained much more than a

Targets of Satire in The Ultimate Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy Douglas Adams satirizes many targets in The Ultimate Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy. Adams came up with the idea for The Ultimate Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy in a drunken haze in Germany while he was lying in a field with the stars spinning over him (Adams, Douglas 12) which explains the style of humor, and the satire in the novel, which does not appear to make sense at first, but eventually does. Contrary to that fact of radical atheism, however, the satire of religion is generally mild. For example, God does exist, but His final message to the Universe is We apologize for the Inconvenience (Adams, Ultimate Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy, IV 665). However, other minor gods also exist, with Thor being a recurrent character. Another particularly memorable moment is when Zarquon, a Jesus surrogate character, returns to the Universe... a few seconds before the Universe ends (Galaxy, II 272), demonstrating how Adams believes that even if religions are correct, that would not change much. Finally, Adams satirizes religion very effectively with the in book device, the Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy Mk. II, which is a device which appears to be a bird, but has immense power. God indeed exists in The Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy, but that s about the extent of His powers. His entire involvement in the series is minimal. The opening words of one of the novels are In the beginning, the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people angry and been widely regarded as a bad move (Adams II, 176). So the first thing God does in the entire history of everything was a mistake, in Adams s eyes. Next, when God sent Jesus, in the words of the novel, One man had been nailed to a tree for saying how great it would be to be nice to people for a change (Adams I, 18). Although I have determined which approach describes situations happening in Zambia, differences between the radical and liberal approaches should be determined. The main difference is that the liberal approach advocates for capitalism and freedom were as the radical approach was developed to eradicate capitalism; this was eminent at a time when capitalism in Europe had developed to a stage when it created a lot of poverty and suffering to the working class and other inferior classes of the capitalist system. Also, liberalism or the liberal approach tends to ultimately lead to the emergence of imperialism were it takes an apologetic stance in imperialism. Imperialism is the extension of control or authority over foreign areas (countries). Persuasive Essay On Guns In 2001, 12,102 murders were caused by gun violence, 17,424 suicides from guns, 366 people died to accidents involving guns, 316 deaths by guns had unknown reasons, and only 154 were confirmed to be in self defense. 30,708 deaths from guns in total, and only 154 out of 30,708 deaths were self defense. Those statistics are alarming. Guns are not being used with the intent to defend yourself. Guns are being used in today s society for celebration, murders, for sport and gang activity. Guns are used for war, by the police force and on drill teams. Guns should not be used in such instances where citizens can harm and even kill others . They should only be utilized to protect their loved ones, themselves and their valuables, not used as tools of murder, suicide and gang activity. The Gun Owners Foundation says that guns save more lives than they take and prevent more injuries than they inflict. This is not true at all, however. The usage of guns for self defense to not self defense ratio is 1:24. For every time a gun is used in self defense, there are 24 shootings that are not. Also, the country is deprived of 180 billion dollars per year due to gun violence. A good chunk of this money comes from taxpayers. The fear that others will judge or think less of us is scary and can be a gigantic blow to our pride. Trumps policy mirrors the trickle down system; where we cut tax on the rich, leaving them with more money in which we assume they will invest. • 32. Boundaries In Beowulf Humans Create Their Place in the World Through analyzing Beowulf, there is a common theme throughout the book of proximity and transgression of boundaries. The author creates the proximity of boundaries by having the Hall, (good), within walking distance of the forest, (bad), and the transgression of boundaries by having Beowulf enter the mere. These examples within the text correlate to boundaries that are seen within our modern world. Proximity of boundaries can be viewed by the closeness of industry and community, and the transgressions can be seen with foreign interference. These transgressions and proximities of boundaries illustrate how humans create and protect their own place in the world by controlling proximity and transgressing boundaries when necessary. In Beowulf, there are several boundaries that have an extremely near proximity to one another. The most evident example of the proximity of boundaries is the forest and Hrothgar s Hall. The forest was seen as a, dark, and mysterious place that was associated with the evil creatures in the book, whereas the Hall was associated with celebration and a sense of safety for the people. The Danes built Hrothgar s hall with the realization that the forest was in close proximity to their place of safety. This example illustrates that the Danes created their place within their environment. Although there are some set boundaries that humans have no control over, such as night and day, there is a large impact on how humanity creates boundaries and their place in the world. In our modern day world, there are numerous examples of how humans have pushed the limits of creating boundaries within close proximity of one another. In Andrew Blackwell s novel, Visit Sunny Chernobyl, he explores a refinery town within Texas called Port Arthur. Blackwell explains the overwhelming proximity of the refineries to the city of Port Arthur, and even gives an example of a child s playground and the immediacy of the refineries. He states, Several hundred yards beyond the playground were the storage tanks of the Motiva refinery, and beyond them the refinery itself, illustrating that humans created a refinery, associated with pollutants and darkness in our society, within ... However, with a practical point of view, the conditional independence (or unconfoundedness) is stronger than the assumption used in statistical software. It means that the treatment does not influence on the conditional mean of each potential outcomes after controlling the covariates. • 44. Abu Ghraib Torture Essay The acts of torture performed on the inmates at Abu Ghraib were both cruel and inhumane. But what if the reason the guards tortured the inmates was due to the result of obedience from their superiors. The cause of the torture of the prisoners at Abu Ghraib could have stemmed from situational factors instead of the will of a few aggressive soldiers. Authority figures that use persuasive methods can be very influential. There are many circumstantial possibilities as to why the guards treated the prisoners cruelly. Most people don t attribute the torture to many situational and external causes. In this case, most people attribute the torture to the internal faults of the guards when it could very well be outside sources at fault. Fear ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Issue involvement is a type of involvement in which the attitudinal issue under consideration has important consequences for the self (Franzoi, 2003, Pg 217). Once again, fear could have been an issue in the persuasion of the guards. The guards realized that they had to do their jobs and act in compliance with orders or face the consequences. In many of the torture pictures at Abu Ghraib, the prisoners are wearing bags on their heads or something to mask their face. The supervisors of the jail could have masked the inmates to make the guards feel less responsible about the vicious acts. Since the victim was masked and cannot tell who is torturing them, a kind of separation is created between the guard and the inmate. The results are also unequivocal in relation to the distance from the direct exertion of violence: the greater the distance, the less the subjects feel responsible and the greater the obedience (Meeus Raaijmakers 159). By masking the prisoners a sense of deindividualization and lack of self awareness occurred because the soldier knows that the inmate does not know who he/she is. Without such self awareness, the deindividuated don t think of themselves as separate individuals and do not attend to their own inner values and behavioral standards (Franzoi 336). With this sense of deindividualization, the guards performed actions they normally would not ever do. Since they remained anonymous with the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. Gateway to Sexual Attraction WST 3015 Intro to Women s Studies Gateway to Sexual Attraction? I bleach my skin because it makes me more appealing to men. Some girls who are black themselves, say they don t want a black man, they want a man with light complexion (Tafari Ama). These are quotes by Jamaican commentators who believe that lightening one s complexion is the gateway to sexual attraction and gaining a potential spouse. Sexual attraction and colorism has been synonymous as early as British colonialism and more contemporarily in newspaper ads dating back to the 1950s (Charles 2003). Trauma, as defined by Merriam Webster online, is a very difficult or unpleasant experience that causes someone to have mental or emotional problems usually for a long time (Merriam Webster). Skin bleaching is a byproduct of deep seated and haunting identity trauma inflicted by Europeans through slavery and colonialism of the Americas and Caribbean. Due to this trauma, women have interpreted bleaching their skins as a way to increase their sexual attractiveness. Colorism, as defined by Margaret Hunter of the Sociology and Anthropology Department of Mills College is a function of racism and social stratification, first introduced by Europeans during the colonization of the New World. Through colorism, an institutionalized hierarchy of complexion was developed. Thus making skin color an identifier and a way to racially oppress those who have not assimilated (Hunter 2007). • 49. To Kill A Mockingbird Hypocrisy Analysis José Emilio Pacheco says We are all hypocrites. We cannot see ourselves or judge ourselves the way we see and judge others. Hypocrisy is demonstrated and observed on an everyday basis in our society, and even in the rural town of Maycomb in the 1930s it is evident as well. In To Kill a Mockingbird, two children by the names of Scout and Jem start to see hypocrisy more and more frequently because of the events that happen to unfold. This includes , including an african american young man accused of something he did not do. This amazing novel by Harper Lee shows that hypocrisy is closely linked to privilege, and a dominating opinion about others. The characters Miss Gates and Mrs. Merriweather are great examples of hypocrisy and Atticus is a great counterexample, showing an effort of being larger than others in Maycomb. Miss Gates demonstrates hypocrisy in the novel. It is shown when she is speaking to Scout s class. She is teaching about Hitler, speaking about how he does not treat everybody equally. She expresses her beliefs against prejudice and the persecution of those who aren t like her. This is hypocritical because she does not treat everybody equally in her own town, and yet she is teaching the opposite of her actions. Miss Gates says, Over here we don t believe in persecuting anybody. Persecution comes from people who are prejudice. (Lee 281) This shows what Miss Gates is teaching to her students and it makes Scout confused because she knows that Miss Gates is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
