3. INTRODUCTION:-
Earth a dynamic evolving system.many geological processes are active on the surface
of the surface of the earth. They are called exogenous process.
The notable surface geological processes are weathering , mass wasting , erosion,
transportation and deposition
These processes are capable of creating both constructional and destructional
landforms. If any of the these earths processes are done by a natural system on
the earth, then it is called as a geological agent
4. What is desert ?
A desert is an area with less than 25cm of annual rainfall .
There are 3 types of desert as follows :
Polar Desert
Middle latitude desert
Low latitude desert
5.
6. WIND ACTION CAN BE DIVIDED INTO THREE
PARTS:-
⢠Erosion
⢠Transportation
⢠Deposition
7. Types of erosion:-
⢠Deflation :- Removal of loose particles by the action of wind.
⢠Abrasion :- Particles carried by wind here acts as tools of destruction.
⢠Attrition :- Here mechanical wearing tearing of particles during the
transportation takes place.
9. Note desert varnish, lack of sand, Iron and
Manganese oxides over everything
Infiltration is slow â Flash Floods, and most water
leaves the area
Desert Pavements or Reg
10. Factors affecting âabrasionâ:-
⢠The strength of wind
⢠Hardness of blowing sand grains
⢠Persistence of wind
⢠Resistance of rock being abraded
Features produced by âabrasionâ:-
⢠Ventifacts
⢠Yardangs
⢠Pedestal rocks
⢠Wind window
11. Pedestal rock :-
⢠Slender rock column having hard rock at the top and soft
narrow rock at the bottom.
27. BARCHANS:-
Migrating crescent dune with horns pointing downward;from
wherestrong winds blow in a consistent direction .Move fastcommon in
central asia and sahara can reach hundreds of feet in height

32. Significance
⢠It helps in the study of Paleo-environment and Paleo-climatic study
⢠Sand dunes represents direction of wind flow
⢠Global climatic changes can also be interpret
