2. Fraud And The Health Care Fraud Essay
On November 21, 2013, Theanna Khou pleaded guilty to dispensing and selling
OxyContin from his Huntington Pharmacy without medical necessity from
fraudulent prescriptions issued by a clinic ( Health care fraud investigations, 2014).
Khou billed Medicare for filling prescriptions that patients never received. This story
is becoming a norm for the health care industry, because the growing financial

drug dealing to a safer haven that has less legal management, organization, and more

Health Care Fraud Fraudulent misrepresentation (fraud) is defined as the
intentional deceit for personal gain (Clarkson, Miller, Cross, 2012). Fraud occurs
when a person knowingly represents an intentional deception as a fact to gain
benefits they are not entitled. The boundaries between fraud and abuse seem to be
confused; the degree of intent distinguishes fraud from abuse. Under HIPAA, it is
considered a felony to intentionally implement a scheme to defraud any health care
benefit program or to obtain money or other property owned or controlled by a
health care benefit program by means of false or fraudulent pretenses,
representations, or promises (Shepard, 2004, para. 1). Health care fraud is an
intentional act to deceive in order to receive greater reimbursement for services,
whereas health care abuse is conduct which is not consistent with acceptable
3. Karl Deutsch s Theory Of The Security Community Theory
Introduction:
I have selected Security Community Theory to write a seminar paper. This seminar
paper presents a conceptualization of NATO by exploring its role as a security
community in European security. In the late 1950s, Karl Deutsch and his colleagues
implicitly challenged the governing approach to security by exploring the concept of
security communities . This was a clear break with traditional approaches to security,
which emphasized the utility of military power and the inevitable nature of military
threats. They gave the idea of such a community where the component states had
come to reject the use or threat of force as a mechanism for resolving disputes.

This contribution was a smoking grenade for traditional interpretations of security. A
security community is a region in which a large scale use of violence such as war has
become very unlikely or even unthinkable. In the late 1950s, Karl Deutsch and his
colleagues challenged the traditional and governing approach to security. They
explored the concept of security communities . Deutsch identified a nascent security
community: such a community where the component states had come to reject the
use or threat of force as a mechanism for resolving disputes among these states, such a
security community which emphasized the utility of military power and the
inevitable nature of military threats. Moreover, Deutsch argued that economic and
cultural cooperation was a far better route toward the formation of such a security
community than was common membership in a traditional military alliance. Deutsch
and his collaborators defined a security community as a group of people believing
that they have come to agreement on at least this one point: that common social
problems must and can be resolved by processes of peaceful change . Peaceful
change was defined as the resolution of social problems, normally by institutionalized
procedures, without resort to large scale physical force . People in a security
community are also bound by the sense of community , the mutual sympathy, trust,

4. American Outlaws Research Paper
The American west was filled with uncertainty and danger at every turn. Outlaws
caused panic and instilled a sense of fear in the people of America. Two of the most
prominent outlaws in American history are none other than Jesse James and Henry
McCarthy. Outlaws have a lasting legacy that is used for inspiration and
entertainment even today. Jesse Woodson James is perhaps one of the most talked
about outlawof the American west. Born on September 5, 1847 in Clay Country,
Missouri James created a legacy of a vigilante righting the wrongs done unto his
family and other Southern sympathizers by the Union soldiers during the Civil
War.1 The James family was a Claiborne Fox Jackson supporter and Jesse s brother

The lasting legacy of outlaws was forever changed by the way these two lived their
lives. Outlaw gangs go as far back in history as the beginning of man. During the
1800 s, Americans were fascinated by gangs and their members. While the outlaws
of the old west packed their rifles to rob banks, stagecoaches and trains, these bandits
resort to defrauding innocent folk and use blackmail and extortion instead of
revolvers. Some historians credit Jesse with contributing to the rise of Confederates
to dominance in Missouri politics. His return to crime after the fall of Reconstruction
helped cement his place in American memory as an effective bandit. Although
Jesse remains a controversial symbol in the cultural battles of the Civil War, he is
regarded as a hero by the neo Confederate movement. This is because banks and
trains were considered foreign, Yankee institutions that were being forced upon a
crippled, Reconstruction South.5 Jesse has been an influence on numerous literary
and musical works of this century. In Willa Cather s My Antonia, the narrator is
said to be reading a book entitled Life of Jesse James. American Outlaws,
Purgatory, and The Assassination of Jesse James are just a few of the films that
have been either based upon or inspired by Jesse James. 5 Henry McCarthy was of
little importance during his lifetime but upon death he was catapulted into legend in
the year after his death when his
5. Use Of Light In Blanche Dubois
Blanche DuBois manipulates lighting and shadows in a room to hide her true
identity. She is constantly concealed by shadows, avoiding direct light which may
reveal her mysterious secret past that is metaphorically hidden in her face. In the
play, Blanche is regularly mentioning light, and the significance of it. Although this
is a film with no colour, the use of light is very visually prominent. The use of light
appears as a deceiving disguise that Blanche uses to shape her image. She aspires to
be an elegant, youthful person when in fact, her beauty is fading, and she has lost all
sense of reality. The film has a major emphasis on the use of light in scene nine,
where Mitch rushes into Blanches apartment with the intent of an interrogation.
6. Plate Tectonics Essay
A plate tectonic is defined as a solid rock mass that builds up the Earth s surface.
The plate tectonic theory is a theory that geologists use to help explain the surface
processes and events. The word plate means large pieces of the earth that are always
in motion, lithosphere plates. Tectonics means how the continents formed and move
over time. This is the theory that most geologists accept as to what happened to our
continents. It states that Earth is made up of two layers, the lithosphere, outer, and
the inner asthenosphere. Lithosphere is made up different chemicals and uneven
rocks. They are however, very rigid and brittle. The lithosphere is made up of ten
major plates. Its major plates are the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When looking at this, it appears like two cars crashing into each other very slowly.
The front ends fold and bend with the edge of the continental plate folding into a
mountain range. You will also notice that the edge of the oceanic plate has bent
down. This makes the rock in both plates break and slip, causing earthquakes. As
the edge of the oceanic plate digs into Earth s hot interior, some of the rock in it
melts. Convergent boundaries are dangerous places to live. Some insist that with
careful planning and preparation, this land is livable. There are also divergent
boundaries where plates seem to come apart. When the lithosphere of Earth is
pulled apart, it tends to break and separate along the boundary. This is a slow
process. The block between the faults cracks and drops down into the
asthenosphere. The sinking of the block forms a rift and liquid rock fills the cracks.
New crust is formed along the boundary. Earthquakes occur near the faults with
volcanoes forming where the magma reaches the surface. When a divergent
boundary crosses the land, the rift valleys created are usually between 30 50 km
wide. One can see this in the East Africa rift in Kenya. There third boundary that
occurs is the transform boundary. This boundary is the least spectacular of them. This
boundary happens when plates slide past each other. This means that plates are not
tearing each other apart. The sliding motion of them does cause a lot of earthquakes.

Heroism, a very opinion based definition. Rebels can be heroes, although anti rebels

who wanted to help everyone, including the opposite side. You can t consider
yourself a hero if you don t have courage, bravery or kindness, because as said above,

21 March 2011
The British Invasion The British Music Invasion was one of the most influential time
periods for the development and maturation of a new variation of rock and roll. This
innovating movement was initially inspired by some of America s greatest rock and
blues musicians including: Buddy Holly, Little Richard, Elvis Presley, Eddie
Cochran, Chuck Berry, and so on. The establishment of the British music scene
absorbed and completely reconfigured the traditional instruments, established music
forms, and the same overused lyrics that once belonged to rock and roll. Two different
schools with two different sounds categorize this great time of influence, now known
as the British Invasion. Even though both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, the band, The Searchers, who sang Love Potion NO. Nine , and
Needles and Pins demonstrated their Beatle inspired, softer style of music that held
the same standard of sophistication. Subsequently, the London school responded to
Liverpool s revolutionary rock sound with its own modification of rock and roll
generated from influential, American rhythm and blues bands with a more basic,
raw demeanor. The newer London school was accompanied by a newer sound that
is most often described as a combination of jazz and R B oriented mainstream rock.
With the debut of the Liverpool British Invasion bands, newer bands from London
had more creative freedom and were challenged by overcoming the previous British
bands successes. As the styles of each school developed, the variation between the
two groups also widened. The second wave of British Invasion bands personified a
harder, more aggressive sounding rock and placed a heavy emphasis on rebellious
behavior. With the intention of creating more blues based rock and roll, this second
school deconstructed the stylistic complexities that they once sought after. It is
important to note that the Beatle s strong American following made it difficult for
bands to compete within the same realm of music (Stuessy, 125). The Beatle s
limitless innovation seemed impossible to surpass, ultimately inspiring

The third step is planning and this involves the development of goals and outcomes
whereby a plan of care is designed to help assist the patient to achieve the goals by
resolving the identified diagnosis. Implementation involves translation of the plan to
action. The final step which is the evaluation involves the determination of the extent
to which the outcomes have been achieved or not.
According to NANDA International, Inc. (formerly the acronym to North American
Nursing Diagnosis Association) medical diagnosis deals with disease or medical
conditions. However nursing diagnosis deals with the human response to actual or
potential health problems and life processes. This has been elucidated with an
example that points to the differences in how a doctor and a nurse would approach
the same health condition. The medical diagnosis of cerebrovascular attack (stroke)
would provide one with the information about the patient s pathology. When we look
at the complimentary nursing diagnoses such as impaired verbal communication, risk
for falls, interrupted family processes and powerlessness, they provide with a more
holistic understanding of the impact of that stroke on this particular patient and his
family. Thus it also direct nursing interventions to obtain patient specific outcomes

The medical or healthcare record has multiple purposes. First, it is repository of
documentation of the actions taken in patient management, the documentation of a
patient s progress, and therefore a mean s to augment one s memory and knowledge

patient transfer to a new provider or should the original provider be unavailable for

and collaboration. Although there are some minor issues I have noticed throughout
the years I find navigation through this system is secure and easy to use. Cerner has
the capability to display available history and demographics. Each time a patient is

any authorized staff member. Their charts are only allowed to be accessed if the
patient was admitted within the last 30 days at any Methodist Health Care hospital.

LED s or Light Emitting Diodes have been around since the 60 s and I think they
are starting to decline. The new technology slowly replacing LED s are OLED s or
Organic Light Emitting Diodes. Now these are special because they contain small
quantities of organic material such as carbon. OLED s feature many vase
improvements over its older friend LED s, these include: flexibility, durability,
transparency and the list goes on! Although this all comes with an unfortunately large
price tag.
While OLED s are a great technology nowadays they have not always been so
advanced. The first working OLED was created in 1987 by Ching W. Tang and

Electroluminescence is when a material emits light in response to the passage of an

wrong purposes. Even in The Once and Future King by T. H. White, this proposition
eventually comes to pass by King Arthur. King Arthur s idea for the Knights of the
Round Table soon crumbled over time because he became so entangled in preserving
his idea that his optimism shielded him from the reality of what was truly going on
with his kingdom, knights, and the war. By the beginning of Arthur s reign, he

15. The Liberalism Of Fear By Judith Shklar
We live in a society were they may be times were anything can happen, with terrorist
organizations, and social justice issues causing uproar. While we have still problems
to work on as citizens, the government we live upon continues to create new
restrictions which restore fear into some citizens. Liberalism has been rare in the
practice and theory in the last two hundred years. But as a state that lives off of
liberal values, the struggle for equality still continues. In the essay The Liberalismof
Fear , philosopher Judith Shklar focuses on developing the definition of political
liberalism, by means of discovering the role that cruelty plays in political and social
life. There are many primary issues in the Liberalism of Fear that I must addressed.
Also I shalll expound on her arguments surrounding the fear of tyranny, fear of abuse
and how it makes a distinct connection to our reality now.
Before we expound on the fundamental attributes of the liberalism of fear, one must
first comprehend what the word liberalism , actually means. Liberalism has only
one aim; to secure the political conditions that are necessary for the exercise of
personal freedom. The liberalism of fear addresses an important human
need:freedom from actual fear. Every person should be able to make as many
effective decisions without fear or favor of anything, as is compatible with the like
of freedom of every other adult. But the most important part of the whole aspect of
liberalism is not so much

18. China s One Child Policy Dbq Analysis
Since 1980, China has made its people the subject of an intrusive and unfair, One
Child Policy. This policy was the result of Chinese officials becoming worried of
the countries jump in population from 1960 to 1980 causing a widespread lack of
resources, so they decided to induct a law that would make force Chinese citizens to
be limited to one child. Because of this controversial policy the question has been
raised, did the one child policy positively or negatively effect China? The one child
policy did negatively effect China and its people, because it resulted in gender
discrimination, unjust punishments and was unnecessary due to the already
declining fertility rate.
China s one child policy was incredibly negative towards its people. In China, boys
are culturally favored over girls, because of this the practice of infanticide has
become more common due to the policy, this is stated in Imbalance and
Discrimination where it is stated, With boys being viewed as culturally preferable,
the practice of female infanticide...was resumed in some areas shortly after the one
child policy went into effect (Document E). This quote demonstrates the negative

There are four contemporary approaches to management: sociotechnical systems

The sociotechnical systems theory was first proven to the U.S. to be effective by the

sure that they have well trained employees with the right tools and knowledge for the
job. In this sense, the employees can put their heads together and produce innovative
products in a productive manner, creating business success. However, quantitative
management takes tides a different direction. It suggests that to be a successful

Lastly, there s the own business s internal environment it has to worry about. How
well can it handle holding its organizations culture, while the managers and
employees continue to effectively turn resources into profits. All of the approaches to
management are relevant to the three environments. Most certainly with its internal
environment, which includes the managers and employees. Organizational behavior
immediately addresses to resolving its internal environment s issues by taking
management to a psychological level to increase productivity. Taken positive attitudes
to a different level.
However all companies must be aware of these three environments in order to be
successful. Therefore, all four approaches to management needs to understand and
flow with the changes in the environments. Systems theory is one contemporary
approach that immediately takes these contingencies into consideration with its
form of managing. Therefore success in the environments is achievable by that
form of management, yet there are still economic factors that can affect all
businesses. The market system is like a circuit board, when a business is

20. Gospel Of Wealth Analysis
Andrew Carnegie wrote The Gospel of Wealth in 1889 describing what he thought
to be the responsibilities of the wealthy. Carnegie believed that it was important
for the wealthy to set an example by living a modest life. He believed those with
wealth should actively engage in using their money to benefit the greater good of
the public in enduring ways instead of squandering it on personal indulgences.
Rather than giving to charities he sought to help those who will help themselves;
to provide part of the means by which those who desire to improve may do so; to
give those who desire to rise the aids by which they may rise; to assist, but rarely or
never to do all . In his essay, Carnegie cites three ways, or modes , in which the
wealthy can distribute their wealth:
1. It call be left to the families of the decedents (inheritance);
2. It can be bequeathed for public purposes (charity and taxation);
3. It can be administered during their lives by its possessors (philanthropy).
Carnegie believed that leaving all of the wealth of the deceased individual to their
heirs may be harmful to society. Carnegie explained that the common trend of
leaving all of one s money to their heirs was disgraceful, noting The man who dies
thus rich dies disgraced. Rather than passing on wealth to those who did not earn it
and had no appreciation for how to acquire wealth on their own, Carnegie proposed
that the wealthy should use their money to benefit society while living. Aside from

Viola. Twelfth Night derives much of its comic force by satirising these lovers.
For example, Orsino s flowery love poetry is made fun of, demonstrating that
Orsino is more in love with the concept of being in love than his supposed
beloveds, as demonstrated in Act One If music be the food of love, play on; Give
me excess of it, that, surfeiting, the appetite may sicken, and so die. Also, by
showing the particulars that govern how nobles engage in courtship, Shakespeare
examines how characters play the game of love. Characters that claim to be of
deep passions are often revealed as self absorbed, foolish, and misguided, as they
fall victim to unfortunate love. Twelfth Night, considers the relationship between
erotic desire and gender and examines more overt same sex desire, even as it
steadily works its way towards the completion of the play, which ends with
heterosexual couplings and marriage in a way for
23. The Accidental Prime Minister By Sanjaya Baru
The Accidental Prime Minister by Sanjaya Baru, published in 2014, is an account
of former Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh s two terms in office.
Sanjaya Baru was appointed as Media Adviser to Dr. Manmohan Singh during his
first term in UPA 1 from 2004 to 2009. This book is in the form of a political memoir.
The book s narrative follows a chronological format, painting a picture of Dr. Singh s
terms in UPA 1 and UPA 2.
In the introduction to his book, Baru proclaims that none of his predecessors at the
Prime Minister s office ever wrote a full book on his experiences during his tenure.

Manmohan Singh and it is UPA chief Sonia Gandhi and her gaggle of yes men who
are shown up in a poor light. The book does not disparage him in any manner. This
book tries to explain plainly the power equation between Sonia Gandhi and Dr.
Manmohan Singh but does not sensationalize the issue. It only re affirms what the
Indian public knew to be true.
Dr. Manmohan Singh is shown, regrettably, as a helpless, clueless shadow puppet of
Sonia Gandhi who almost arouses our sympathies because of his ineffectiveness in
functioning as the Prime Minister of India. This sad truth was simply being put on
record by the primary witness, ie, Sanjaya Baru, to this political drama.
Baru tell us that Dr Singh was terrified of losing his place in the scheme of things if
he did not kowtow to the High Command, Sonia Gandhi. For Dr. Singh, the Gandhi
family came first, followed by the political party, prime minister s office and, lastly,

24. A Hero Is A True Hero
Is someone fighting in a war a hero, or is a man flying around with a cape in a
movie? As people grow and change so does their definition of a hero. A hero is any
person who does the right thing. Children think of heroes as superheroes with crazy
powers, but a best friend, or a neighbor could be a true hero. A hero does not run
away from a challenge, and is not a coward. At times heroes do not even notice that
they are a hero. In a person s life they will meet dozens of heroes everyday, but not
even know. Even when no one is watching, a hero does the right thing, puts others
before themselves, and always accepts a challenge.
All heroes do the right thing even when no one is watching. A hero will not bully
or make fun of people to their face or behind their back. A hero is that kid that will
help pick up books when someone drops them, not to feel good but to do the right
thing. Paramedics save lives everyday, just to save lives not for the reward. That is
what makes a true hero. In an interview with McCall magazine, Oliver Stone says
Scientists who spend years of their lives trying to find cures for diseases. The
teenager who says no to crack. The inner city kid who works at McDonald s
instead of selling drugs. The kid who stands alone instead of joining a gang, which
would give him an instant identity (Stone 74). All of those people are doing the
right thing. The teenager is saving his own life, the kid working at McDonald s is
stopping others from overdosing. The kid who stood alone saved his own and other
lives, because gangs kill. Everyone can be a hero.
Additionally a hero puts others lives before his or her own. Police and other first
responders go to the place they have to not knowing if they will live or die, just
wanting to help whoever needs it. Firefighters run in burning buildings with only
one goal in mind, rescuing the person in the building. The dad in the military trying
to protect his country and family is another hero. Abraham lincoln helped america
develop and got the country through dark times. He freed the slaves not worrying of
being killed. In O Captain, My Captain, Whitman says, The ship is anchored safe
and sound, its voyage closed and done; 20From fearful trip the victor ship comes

Experts aren t quite sure why people develop RA, however Judith Frank, MD claims
that years of research found that susceptible people include those who have a genetic
predisposition to RA, environmental factors, lifestyle factors, experience significant
hormonal balance disruption, or experience intestinal microbial changes. The genetic
predisposition to the diseaseis a specific gene, HLA DR4, which has been found in
approximately 65% of Caucasian RA cases. Although the presence of this genetic
marker increases the chance of developing the disease, most doctors don t order a
genetic test because it isn t an accurate diagnostic tool for RA. Medical News Today
states that RA is two to three times more likely to occur in women than men.... Show

Although the link between smoking and RA is unknown, Healthline states that
smoking triggers a faulty immune function if a person already has certain genetic
factors. The CDC states that smoking increases a person s risk of RA by 1.3 to 2.4
times, and can also cause one s symptoms to advance more quickly than someones
who does not smoke. In addition to smoking, Healthline states that those who are
overweight are at a higher risk for developing RA. This may be because individuals
who are overweight tend to have a more fatty, unhealthy diet or lack in physical
activity. The Mayo Clinic states that women who have been diagnosed with RA at
age 55 of younger are more likely to have been overweight. With that being said, it is
suggested to maintain a healthy weight in order to help prevent RA. Marc C.
Hochberg, co writer of the book Rheumatoid Arthritis, states that there are suggestions
that red meat may cause an increased risk for RA, and that intake of fruit and oily
fish may protect against RA, but all of these reports need confirmation (Hochberg).
There are ongoing studies that strive to find the cause and discover better treatments
for RA. According to the Arthritis Foundation, a new study has been looking at the
effects of nerve stimulation on RA patients, which is believed to help control the
inflammation of the disease. Kevin J. Tracey, Neurosurgeon, discovered that
stimulating the vagus nerve, which extends from the brainstem to the
26. Objections To The Adminstrative Process Theory
Croley faces many objections to his administrative process theory. Some objections
are in defense of the public choice theory while others seek to disprove the
administrative theory itself. Despite the outcome of these arguments, Croley seeks to
emphasize publically interested regulation is a possibility according to the
administrative process theory and that under the right circumstances it will prevail.
The main claim being there is more not less to the story of regulationthan legislative
control and interest group influence, notwithstanding the inordinate explanatory
weight these factors are usually thought to carry. An initial objection uses the basic
argument that a few cases of regulation successfully advancing the public interest
does not undermine the public choice theory. This theory, known as the straw theory,
puts forth the idea that regulation does not always end with interest groups receiving
regulatory rents, but does enough times to draw attention to the efficiency of the
regulation process. The theory should be able to incorporate these few cases. Croley
responds in this case first by explaining the conceptual criticism of the theory would
remain regardless of the analyses of the cases in this particular circumstance.
Furthermore, if the theory were to accommodate those few successful examples of
regulation it would not have predictive or explanatory power because of its inability
to rule out any regulatory outcomes. In this case, the previous

In Selma, Dr. King continued to organize and motivate blacks to march peacefully
until they get the right to vote. On February 10, 1965, a group of students banded
together and protested in front the courthouse where they were beaten with clubs,
hit by police cars and electric cattle prods and held in jail for several days. Every
day, there were marchers and arrests, many people were often beaten by the police.
Dr. King announced that a march will be held on March 7, 1965 from Selma to
Montgomery to voice their grievances. Marchers gathered at the Brown Chapel and

the right to march and granted Dr. King the right to lead a march from Selma to
Montgomery with the protection of federal State Troopers. Immediately, Dr. King
set a new march date: March 21, 1965 which was huge success. Incidentally,
President Johnson introduced the voting rights bill into Congress same day.
Incidentally, few weeks before President Johnson introduced the voting rights bill,
a prominent black activist, Malcom X spoke at rally in Selma telling blacks that
many of his black activists and civil rights leaders would not agree with him in

about taking radical approach in Selma but his response was that his speech was to
send a message to both government and police of Selma that blacks can respond with

28. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Track Gauge
In attempt to stimulate economic development and de congest roadways between
two major cities in South Africa, the decision has been made to build a railway as
alternative transport. An important decision needs to then be made concerning the
type of track gauge for the new railway line. A comparison, by a review of pros and
cons, is made between the 1076mm Cape gauge and the 1435mm Standard gaugein
order to recommend the more economically viable track gauge for the transport
infrastructure.
The Cape gauge was initially a better option as the narrow gauge reduced costs when
building through and around South Africa s mountainous terrain. These narrow
networks are lighter and have smaller radius curves, this makes them useful in the
mining, construction, tunnelling and quarrying industries where temporary railway
is needed.
Moving rolling stock is difficult with Cape gauges so there must always be enough
rolling stock to keep up with demand during peak periods, however, this is
unprofitable during periods of low demand.
The Standard gauge is used widely in the United States, Canada, Europe, China and
many other countries which allows for a wider variety of suppliers. Fewer countries

Cost per kilometre for the Cape gauge lies at R1.6 million while the Standard
gauge cost is higher per kilometre at R1.8 million. The track costs are balanced out
due to the ease with which the rolling stock for a Standard gauge can be accessed
as there are existing designs that have been tried and tested that are available, this
saves vast quantities of money and time. If a Cape gauge were to be used the
designs would have to be tested, prototyped and optimised before they are

31. What Are The Similarities Between The Crucible And The...
Comparison between The Crucible and The Scarlet Letter The Scarlet Letter written
by Nathaniel Hawthorne and The Crucible written by Arthur Miller are two pieces of
literature written around the same era. They were written in the early days of the
Massachusetts colony. Both of the pieces of literature have many similarities
including the theme, setting, conflicts, and some major plot elements. But the two
pieces of literature are also very different. They both use have a common theme but
are completely different stories. Each of the plays tell a different portrayal of the
effects of sin on the protagonist, how they deal with the situation, and also how they
will be effected by their choices made throughout the play. A common thing... Show

Both use theme to develop the leading male characters, and the conflicts that they
both go through. Another important use of this theme is to show the effects of their
confession when they finally tell their sins. When John confesses, he realizes he
may have a little bit of good in him, and is not afraid to be hung as a witch. When
the minister confesses, he tells the entire town that everyone sins. After confessing
he is eligible to let his daughter kiss him in public and die a happy man. Even
though both works have a common theme, they develop a plot in a different way.
The common theme allows the authors something that is different in both works and
uses symbolism in each. In The Crucible John signing his name on the paper
confessing the witch craft is stating that he gives up his freedom and the last of his
dignity. He knew after signing this he would be an outcast, which could be worse
than death. When he tears the confession paper, this symbolizes him breaking free
and not giving away his life. The Scarlet Letter the A represents sin and everyone in
Boston notices it and she is shunned. She was known as a sinner and he baby was
the devil s baby. She learns to live with It and except. In both, symbolism is used to
help the theme, but symbolizes a different

A Streetcar Named Desire
In the summer of post World War II in New Orleans, Louisiana lives hard working,
hardheaded Stanley and twenty five year old pregnant, timid Stella Kowalski in a
charming two bedroom apartment on Elysian Fields. Stella s older sister Blanche
Dubois appears in the first scene unexpectedly from Laurel, Mississippi carrying
everything she owns. In Tennessee Williams A Streetcar Named Desire
, despite
Blanche s desire to start fresh in New Orleans, her snobbish nature, inability to act
appropriately on her desires, and denial of reality all lead to her downfall. Blanche
believes that her upper class roots puts her above everyone else including her sister
Stella. The two sisters have a heartwarming reunion, but Blanche has resentment
towards her sister for leaving her to care for their dying family. While Stella left to
start a new life for herself, Blanche s life went downhill. The deaths were slow and
tortuous and lead her to the desire of destruction in her life. Blanche breaks the news
to her younger sister that their childhood home Belle Reve has been lost, but fails to
explain how.
Throughout the progression of the play Stanley finds out all Blanche s secrets and
we see Blanche s secrets in a deeper, darker setting. Williams makes it very obvious
that we should pay very close attention to Blanche s first words; They told me to
take a street car named Desire, and then transfer to one called Cemeteries and ride
six blocks and get off at Elysian

The theme developed in Uglies is that the idea of pretty or equilibrium shouldn t be
taken to far. On place where this theme is apparent on page 103 when Tally is
talking to special circumstances about Shay s disappearance before her operation.
This relates to the theme because Dr. Cable essentially says that everything must
exist equally and if there is any threat to that equality, the people behind it must be
killed. Another way this theme is developed in the beginning is Tally s own self
image. On page 117 she has not become pretty yet, which has taken a toll on her
mental health as she cries from her own ugly face . This is also proven in the
middle of the book when Tally is talking with David about herself and she tells David

34. Lab Report Density Lab
The purpose of the Density/Graphing Mini Lab was to determine how the density of
a small amount of a substance relates to the density of a large amount of the same
substance. The density of a substance is determined by the mass (resistance to
change in acceleration) and the volume (how much space it takes up). To calculate
density the formula used is, F = m/v. Mass is measured in g, volumeis measured in
mL, and density is measured in cmВі. The hypothesis, If the density of a small
amount of a substance is compared to the density of a large amount of the same
substance then they densities will be the same because the ratio between mass and

Marble 6 is 2.5mL. When analyzing the results it was discovered that as the
number of marbles increase the total volume increased due to the increase of
particles. The graph shows a straight line which also demonstrates how the ratio of
mass and volume will not cause a change in the density no matter how much of the
substance is being used. Possible errors that could have skewed the data include
the water not being 30mL at first or a broken calculator. If the water was not
originally 30 mL then the total volume of the marbles would be incorrect as the
number wouldn t be accurate because of uneven starting points. If the calculator
used to find the answers is broken then the answers would all be inaccurate, which
would mess up the data. Possible ways to fix these errors could be making sure
that when reading the graduated cylinder, it is read at eye level and the bend, or
meniscus, is what is read. If the highest point is read the data would be incorrect
because the water is holding on to the sides of the

Orders...
In Book 4, Vitruvius writes on the established rules for the Doric and Corinthian
orders, and explains the differences and peculiarities.
Chapter I: The Origins of the Three Orders, and the Proportions of the Corinthian
Capital
In chapter 1, Vitruvius writes of the proportions of the Ionic, Doric, and Corinthian
columns and the similarities and differences. The three architectural order by its
capital are Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian. Corinthian columns, apart from in their
capitals that has the same proportions as in the Ionic order, but the height of the
capitals taller than the Ionic capitals that give it a slimmer appearance. In Corinthian
style two thirds are added capitals, that gives a slender appearance to the length of the
columns. Corinthian columns are composed either of the Doric proportions or uses
the Ionic, and the Corinthian order does not have any peculiar arrangement for its
cornices or other ornaments. The Corinthian order may be arranged with a frieze
decorated with sculptures that is accompanied with dentils and coronae. The
Corinthian order may include mutules in the coronae and guttae with the architraves
as the triglyph system of the Doric style or as the Ionic style.
Doric was the first to have rules for their symmetry to tolerate large sums of weight,
and also to a satisfactory appearance of beauty. They measured a man s foot and
compared this with his height, finding that the foot was one sixth of the height, and
they applied the same principle
37. Role Of Julius Caesar In The Gaul
Julius Caesar s role in the Gaul had a large impact in many aspects of his career
such as the military, wealth and influence on Rome and political power. Julius
Caesar was a Roman politician who turned the Roman republic into the powerful
Roman Empire. Caesar overthrew the Roman republic and founded the rule of the
emperors. In this period Caesar used the problems to his advantage and created his
own supreme political and military power, gaining the trust of Rome and building
his army. Caesar is well known throughout the whole world as one of the most
powerful and successful leaders that has ever lived. In his young years, his father
had a major impact on him, as he had political success, and the family has a history
in politics, which had helped Caesar in starting out in politics. Julius Caesars first
important political success had occurred in 63b.c.e when Caesar was appointed
the role of Chief Religious office in Rome; this had set him up for future political
roles. Caesar was very strategically and had many tactics to how he would rule; he
always wanted more glory and political and military opportunities and would
overcome all challenges he faced. In 59B.C.E Caesar won an election to become
consul, the senate then assigned him to lands that gave Caesar no opportunities for
military exaltation, as he did not want Caesar to succeed. Caesar realised he would
need more allies to overcome his opponents in the senate. He then formed the alliance
that was known as the First Triumviratewith the Roman General Pompeywho brought
wealth and military success. During Caesar s rule he gained a lot of military success
due to how he led his army
Military during Caesar s rule was a high contribution of his success. Military
success was important to Julius Caesar as it gave him wealth to succeed in Roman
politics. It was important was important for Caesar because it gives him enormous
power in the military; this means his army would be big and strong and would be
able to protect Caesar. Success in a war gave Caesar more glory and brought more
wealth to him, and made Caesar rise more to fame. In Rome political success brought
opportunities for military command, as Julius Caesar already had much political
power, his
38. Systemic Radionuclide Therapy
Introduction
The spine column is one of the most frequent sites for bone metastases that occur in
patients with developed cancer, especially prostate, lung and breast. Intolerable pain
is the major symptoms that appear with bone metastasis and severe pain reduces
quality of life [1 4]. Treatment of spinal metastases is a multidisciplinary approach
involving conventional external beam radiotherapy, surgery, narcotics,
bisphosphonates, percutaneous vertebral body augmentation, systemic radionuclides,
stereotactic body radiotherapy or a combination of these systemic therapies [5 8].
Systemic radionuclide therapy with suitable radiotracers has some advantages

Thus consideration of absorbed dose to minimizing dose delivery and assessment of
radiation damage to bone marrow is important. To attain effective radionuclide
therapy, it is essential to identify appropriate radionuclides as well as to develop
better bone seeking agents that could result in good in vivo localization and desired
excretion [12]. There are two major groups of radionuclides for treating painful bone
metastases including, ОІ emitting radionuclides; 32P,89Sr, 90Y, 153Sm, 166Ho,
177Lu, 186Re, 188Re and О± emitting radionuclide;223Ra [13 19]. The 32P and
89Sr were the first radioisotope to be evaluated for palliative treatment of bone
metastases [20, 21]. Currently, there are several commercially available ОІ emitting
radionuclides for bone pain palliation as 89SrCl2, 153Sm EDTMP and 186Re
HDEP [22, 23]. However, another radionuclide is under research for palliative
treatment of bone metastasis, such as 90Y, 166Ho, 177Lu and 188Re. Recently,
223RaCl2 that uses the bone seeking О± emitter 223Ra has become available and it
approved by the FDA for clinical use in 2013 [24 27]. For each atom of 223 Ra, 4
alpha particles are released that they are representing 94 % of the total radiation

for me and the major theme(s) being studied during that year. The novels I often
gravitate towards are the ones that I can relate to or share a connection with (text
to self and text to world). These are the books I opt for because as a reader, I
visualize the plot and being able to connect to it means I can sympathize with the
protagonist or other characters in the book. In grade 9, as a class, we read To Kill

Strategies I hope to employ when selecting my grade 12 ISU novel are: reading

regularly, research about possible origins /author, and questioning. Choosing a text
that you can comprehend is important because if you need to search up a word
every second, you will disrupt the flow of reading and will not want to read
anymore or forget everything that you read. The second strategy I hope to use in
grade 12 is to research about the author and where the author got the idea from. This
strategy will help readers understand where the plot is coming from and more about
the author s writing style and genre. The third and last strategy that will attempt to
use while choosing my grade 12 ISU would be questioning. When using this strategy,
the reader will become aware of small details to find the answer to their question.
Questioning can make the reader understand the situation the characters are going
through and make them more curious to continue reading

Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to give a descriptive account of the current atrocities

Communist Invasion and occupation in 1959. I plan to give a brief description of

In 1959, the National Uprising occurred, which failed, forcing the Dalai Lama, Tibet
s political and spiritual leader, to flee to India. Although there were many protests to
China s actions and even three U.N. resolutions condemning the take over, China in
the end retained supreme control over the state.
During the next two decades of Chinese policy, 1/5 of the country s population
(roughly 1.2 million people) died, either in prisons and labor camps or by executions.
More than 6,000 temples, monasteries, and other cultural and religious buildings

efforts were made inside of the Party to recuperation , through easing up of hostile
governing, though very little has changed. Even the U.S.S.R. condemned China s
policies as the most brutal of all the Communist governments.
Two delegations have been sent to China by the Dalai Lama in 1979 and 1984 in a

American were still victims of racism, still afraid, and full of hatred. This is a story
about Troy, a man who struggled with his past memories, and anger while trying to
raise his family in the 1950s.
In the play called Fences by August Wilson, Troy is seen as a hardworking man, and
also a man who cause pain to the people he was supposed to be loving without
recognizing, or knowing it. This is a story about a man who does not know how to
love for example Lyons one of his sons came and said hey, pop , and Troy s reply is
what you come Hey, popping me for? (Wilson 1060).

Troy have a tough relationship with his family especially with his son Cory. Troy
is a harsh father who believes his duties are to provide for his family, and while
trying to provide for his family he forgets to work on the relationship with them.
For example, there comes a point where Cory doubt his father s love. In the play
Fences, Cory asks his father how come you aint never like me? (Wilson 1075).
Troy then reply with a question liked you? Who the hell say I got to like you? It s
my job, it s my responsibility! You understand that? A man got to take care of his
family. You live in my house, sleep on my bedclothes, fill your belly up on my food...
cause you, my son. You my flesh and blood. Not cause I like you! Cause it s my duty
to take care of you. I owe a responsibility to you! Let s get this straight here, before it
go along any further... I ain t got to like you (Wilson
43. How ELT Has Helped Make English the Global Language
How ELT has Helped Make English the Global Language
Standardization of English Controversies It is not difficult to determine why
English began its rise as the predominant language in the world. Britain, the
progenitor of the language, once bragged that the Sun never set on the British
Empire. This is true in that the empire stretched to all areas of the globe, and the
nation of England had influence beyond just its possessions. Because the
conquerors spoke English, many of the citizens learned to at least use a few simple
phrases that would allow them to take the better jobs offered by the English. This
same scenario has happened since the United States has become the world
superpower. In areas such as commerce and science, it is almost non negotiable that a
person has to learn English to survive. The global climate dictates that there must be a
single language which everyone can turn to as that spoken in a particular discipline.
Because of the economic superiority of the United States over the past 50 years, and
the fact that the US has also dominated many fields within science, English is spoken
by many people around the world. However, it is a second language. The fact is that
English is not the preeminent first language. Chinese Mandarin has far more native
speakers than any other language in the world (Lovgren, 2004). Of course, just the
sheer volume of Chinese make this a certainty, but many of these people still speak
English as a second language because
44. Analysis Of Bojack Horseman
There s a scene from Bojack Horseman that I just love to look back on that occurs
at the end of season 2. Bojack Horseman is a satirical comedy show on Netflix that
follows the anthropomorphic horse, Bojack Horseman. Despite the fact that he
was a successful TV show actor 20 years prior, he still believes that he is a relevant
face in Hollywood and behaves very selfishly because of it. In the scene, he
decides to start running only to immediately hate it. He falls and lies down on a
hill nearly giving up. Then a baboon that is jogging stops to tell him that jogging
gets easier but you got to do it every day, that s the hard part. (error23x 0:27).
Bojack Horseman feels that he never will change but it is because he is waiting for
his life to magically be better even though he is still making bad decisions from
lack of self discipline. He doesn t apply self discipline every day and that is his
problem. Personally, I don t think I have the amount of self discipline that I need
to truly achieve what it is that I want in my life. I do things well such as homework
or menial tasks in a sufficient amount of time and tend to arrive early to social
engagements that I plan to attend. That however differs when something such as a
project enters into my peripheral vision. Projects just seem like horrifically
daunting tasks that would take a lot of time and effort that I can t expend at the
moment. It would only make sense to wait until I had enough time at one point to
work on it. This makes the project only harder because it is being pushed off. I
always try to do two things at once this may prove to be my downfall. My attempts
at efficiency and maximum productivity have become second nature to me. This
may have improved my work ethic or speed at which I conduct tasks, but it also
usually leads to me being irresponsible in what I place onto my shoulders. It is true
that I ask for little tips and tricks on how to be effective (FightMediocrity 5:53). I
love little tricks from anything to making more space in your closet to becoming
more productive, but they cannot fix my self discipline problem unless I go past the
trick and apply self discipline to my life. Self discipline can get you much farther in
45. Gender Roles A Self Fulling Prophecy Essay
This cycle can negatively impact the author s life and the reader s life, whether they
know it or not, because as they read or write harmfully gendered relationships, they
subconsciously affirm the truths portrayed in the fiction and spread these beliefs to
other readers. In other words, damaging genderroles appear right and natural, because
they are so often depicted in the media as right and natural, with relationships healthy
based on equality being rarely offered as the alternative. This makes heteronomrative
gender roles a self fulling prophecy with people performing these stereotypes, because
they are presented as the norm. If feminized male characters serve as the stand in for
the female reader, then fanfictions that depicts the feminine as mentally and
physically less able than the masculine must contribute to this vicious cycle as well.
In addition, the masculine gender roleoften exemplifies the type of behavior
considered natural for men. In American culture, part of this natural masculine gender
role assumes that men will be complicit ,if not actively participating, in patriarchal
culture and the poisonous values often associated with it. The traditional masculine
model is made to seem so right that men portraying this gender role, and the women
reading about this gender role, are made to believe that the domination and
exploitation of women, and even other men, is not just expected, but demanded
(Carter 2011). Within the Hannibal fandom, this type
