Here are some suggestions for improving the visibility of Jennifer Tilly's name on the movie poster:
- Use a thicker or bolder font weight to make the text stand out more from the background image.
- Add a stroke or outline around the text in a contrasting color like white to make it pop.
- Place the text on a transparent overlay shape like a rectangle so it's not competing directly with the image details underneath.
- Increase the size of the text slightly so it takes up more visual space and catches the eye easier.
- Experiment with different text colors - a lighter or brighter hue may stand out more than the dark red currently used.
- Add a subtle drop shadow behind the text
This document analyzes the codes and conventions used in horror movie posters for A Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream, and Annabelle. It discusses how each poster places the main character or antagonist prominently in the center to catch the viewer's attention. It also analyzes how lighting, color schemes, imagery and other design elements are used to create an unsettling mood and provide clues about the plot. Common horror conventions like disrupted equilibrium, threats of violence and death are portrayed through visual cues and text. Overall, the document shows how the posters employ standard techniques to advertise the films as scary and draw in audiences.
Here are the key points I gathered from your research:
- You are considering a 2D pixel art side-scroller or first-person perspective game where the player controls a vampire character.
- The gameplay would involve platforming, melee and ranged combat against various enemy types. Finishing moves on enemies could restore health/points.
- Zelda was an influence for its clean HUD design and overall layout. Call of Duty influenced a possible first-person perspective and grittier aesthetic.
- Dracula and Castlevania games provided inspiration for the gothic horror tone, color palette, character designs, and side-scrolling gameplay mechanics. Different Dracula ports also showed varying approaches.
The document discusses antiheroes and their ethical complexity. It defines an antihero as an imperfect hero that is more interesting than traditional stereotypical heroes. Antiheroes can toe the line between good and evil, having redeeming and flawed qualities. With the rise of science disrupting old spiritual worldviews, people must now determine ethics for themselves rather than relying on absolute moral authorities. The document will examine antiheroes and discuss how their complex nature challenges simplistic views of heroes and villains.
The document discusses how different social groups are represented in media products. It analyzes the representation of the family, gender, and characters in the thriller film "Grounded". The family is portrayed as nuclear and middle-class. Gender stereotypes are both played on and subverted throughout the film. The mystery caller's identity is kept secret to drive the plot forward.
Antony Sibanda proposes a fashion documentary video project exploring youth fashion aesthetics and influences. Over 16 weeks, he will conduct research, interviews, filming, and editing. The documentary will examine what inspires different styles among youth and promote openness to new fashions. Antony will evaluate his progress weekly and share the final video to gather feedback for improvement.
The document discusses several promotion methods for a fashion documentary, including an Instagram page, TikTok page, YouTube channel, class screenings, and posters around college. The Instagram and TikTok pages aimed to foreshadow the documentary and generate curiosity through short video clips and photos. Class screenings and posters provided local promotion on campus. Merchandise, film festivals, and social media groups were considered but avoided due to concerns about reach, relevance, or potential for online toxicity. The key promotion strategies focused on using social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok to engage the target 16-24 year old audience.
The document discusses pre-production planning for a documentary project. It will focus on three groups - skaters, a goth couple, and an alt-streetwear duo. Equipment needs include a Canon 600D camera, audio recorder, and phone for backup footage. Models include Lloyd and skaters to be filmed at a skate park, Hope and Piper with a goth aesthetic, and Matt and Alfie in alt-streetwear to be filmed in York. Locations, call sheets, and color schemes are outlined to showcase each group's style through videography. Music choices aim to reflect each group's interests to engage the target 16-24 audience.
The document discusses potential problems and solutions related to equipment, storage, ability, backing up data, weather, actors/extras, locations, finance, and health and safety during the production of a fashion documentary. Regarding equipment, the document mentions bringing extra batteries and SD cards to avoid running out of storage or battery life while filming. It also discusses using OneDrive or USB drives for storage and backing up data regularly. Solutions for weather issues include filming on sunny days and avoiding peak heat times. Potential actor/extra problems like illness are addressed by planning to have backup models. Locations are analyzed for safety hazards that could be mitigated.
Piper is influenced by drawing and heavy metal/punk music in her goth fashion aesthetic. She enjoys the darker tones and harsher looks typical of goth fashion. Some musical artists that inspire her style include Slaughter to Prevail, Rob Zombie, Destroy Boys, and Thy Art is Murder. Lady Gaga and Remington Leith are also fashion influences for Piper. Researching different subcultures is helping the filmmaker understand each model's unique influences to accurately portray them in the documentary.
The document outlines a fashion documentary project about diverse youth fashion cultures. The creator aims to showcase different fashion aesthetics and inspire their audience to try new trends. They want to promote acceptance of different styles and reduce toxicity between young people based on clothing. Research will include previous projects on diverse youth culture and fashion YouTubers/TikTok creators. The goal is for viewers to appreciate different looks and be influenced to try something new. The documentary will have a social media style with fast cuts but also include facts to educate audiences. This style was chosen to appeal to a teenage audience.
The document discusses the student's idea for their final major project (FMP) in which they want to create a fashion documentary. Specifically, they want to showcase different fashion aesthetics and styles through videography, while also including an educational component. They believe fashion is a relevant topic that most audiences will be interested in. While they have experience making factual videos, they have not seen many fashion documentaries and want to improve their camera skills. To overcome limitations, they plan to research fashion documentary conventions and techniques during pre-production and practice different camera settings.
This evaluation form provides guidance for evaluating creative media projects at Level 3. It recommends using appropriate terminology, staying concise and focusing on key points, evaluating statements, and focusing on work rather than process. The document outlines sections for project overview, themes and research, development, outcomes, and personal response. It aims to help students critically reflect on their projects and identify strengths and weaknesses.
In the first three weeks of his final major project, Antony Sibanda considered ideas, chose to create an original song with accompanying music video, album cover, and promotional poster. He researched existing examples of these media, focusing on album covers, marketing strategies, and styles/techniques used in music videos. He conducted a survey of friends to understand his target audience and researched Drake's audience appeal strategies. In weeks 4-5, he created style guides, layout concepts, and shot lists. He wrote song lyrics, recorded a raw version, and planned production. In week 6, he began working on the album cover design but realized the background obscured the text, so he added effects to make the text stand out more
The document provides an evaluation of Antony Sibanda's production process for creating a music video, CD cover, and promotional poster. Some key points:
- Research of existing products helped inspire styles and techniques used. Case studies informed color schemes, fonts, and layouts. A questionnaire identified the target audience.
- Planning a color scheme of black, white, yellow, and blue represented urban youth culture. Layout designs helped choose the best format. A work plan scheduled tasks.
- Strict time management and use of holidays allowed filming, photo shoots, and early completion with feedback time.
- Technical software like Audacity and Photoshop were used but had limitations. Effects like filters engaged audiences.
1) Antony's first idea is to create an original song and music video that showcases youth culture and diversity in fashion. However, COVID restrictions may make it difficult to film groups of people.
2) His second idea is a documentary about youth culture, fashion, music tastes, and nicknames among 12-18 year olds. Interviews could still work under COVID rules requiring only 2 people.
3) His third idea is a football podcast with friends to discuss debates around the sport. Online calls could allow recording within COVID restrictions.
For their FMP, the student will produce a song, music video, album cover, and promotional poster about diversity in youth culture and toxicity between groups. The song will be available on streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music. The music video will be on YouTube. The album cover and poster will advertise the song. The target audience is 12-21 year olds who will relate to the message. Throughout the products, a consistent color scheme inspired by urban graffiti will be used to portray the atmosphere and ideas of youth culture.
The document describes experiments conducted to design album artwork and promotional materials for a song about diversity in youth culture. In Experiment 1, the artist tests different background images, fonts, and text styles for the album cover. Experiment 2 involves editing a mock music video to practice video effects and transitions. Experiment 3 develops two versions of a promotional poster with different layouts. The reflection indicates elements from each experiment that will be incorporated into the final products, including a graffiti background, graffiti font, special video effects, and poster layout focusing on the album art.
- Jaden Smith uses consistent colors, themes, and aesthetics across his album, music videos, and promotions to establish a clear brand and convey messages about toxic masculinity and individual expression.
- His music video for "Photograph" uses a narrative/concept style that leaves viewers questioning and engages them through storytelling that relates to the song lyrics.
- Jaden cuts the video smoothly to the beat but also uses unorthodox cuts that link to specific lyrics for more interest and engagement. He keeps effects minimal to maintain the natural feel and his chosen color scheme.
Antony Zenzele Sibanda proposes creating a music video, album cover, and promotional poster about diversity and toxicity in youth culture. They will write an original song, film and edit the music video using skills learned from previous projects. Research will include music video techniques, album cover design, and marketing strategies. Evaluation will assess strengths, weaknesses, audience appeal, and areas for future improvement. The goal is to showcase different youth cultures and highlight conflicts between groups through visualizing the song's lyrics.
Antony's initial idea is to create a music video for an original song while learning to produce music and improve his filming skills. However, COVID restrictions may make filming groups difficult. His second idea is a documentary on youth culture, fashion, and music tastes through interviews, but again COVID limits group filming. His third idea is a football podcast debating topics with friends, but online calls would be needed due to COVID. Antony provides a mind map and mood board for inspiration, showing diverse cultures and unity across gloomy scenery and simple album art. The mood board will influence the look and feel of showcasing various cultures in his music video.
The document describes a game/film idea called "Innocent Fangs" about a woman who can survive and end a vampire apocalypse. It is aimed at teenagers aged 14-20 and will appeal to both female and male audiences. The main character is female, making it more relatable to female audiences.
The creator will make a magazine and poster to promote the story, as well as a pixel animated game demo with soundtrack. Research will be done on vampire media and games to design the animation layout and products consistently. Skills in Photoshop, BeepBox, and Premiere Pro will be used to create the promotional items and animation.
The document provides guidance for tracking the production process of a music video, including filming, editing, and post-production. It outlines sections to document the filming and editing processes, with prompts to record technical issues, logistical challenges, personnel management, planning processes, and editing decisions. For filming, the document discusses using external music playback and studio facilities, while phone camera quality and lack of tripod created difficulties. Logistically, location access and weather impacted the shoot. Personnel issues included an isolation period, but the crew otherwise worked well. Planning with storyboarding and shotlists helped, while props could have been better prepared. Editing successes included clip timing, color effects, and transitions, but crashes, overuse of effects,
Hype Williams is a renowned music video and film director known for shaping hip-hop visuals. He started in graffiti and worked his way up in the industry, directing videos for major artists like Jay-Z, Missy Elliot, and Tupac. Williams won several awards for his innovative videos in the 1990s-2000s and is credited with establishing the stylish aesthetic of hip-hop videos today. He has since expanded to films while continuing to direct iconic music videos for artists like Kanye West.
The document provides guidance for students to plan and prepare a music video production through various pre-production tasks, including selecting a song, conducting research, developing ideas, assessing feasibility, planning locations, equipment needs, personnel, and creating a visual plan to storyboard the video. The template PowerPoint includes sections for students to detail their ideas, interpretations, plans, and structure for their music video assignment.

atmosphere to a story and can
make an audience hate the evil
more; Including a team of
people fighting off evil and

the target audience appeal to
the humans more. Including
blood and generally the color

connotations of danger, death
and suffering which can
portray the starving of the

I could use this colour scheme because overall it

maintain consistensy and portray the idea of a

I could use this colour scheme because overall it
gives of an atmosphere of irregularity and

gives of the connitations of sickness and

When making a poster for the filmI would present it in a way my target audience can be attracted to the idea of the
film and will want to find out more and watch the film. One way I could do this is by using a good font and style in my
title. As shown in the example above the title is large and would be bold as it will be noticeable for my target
audience. Adding a ridged font putting blood on letters can be effective as it will give my audience the idea of
apocalypse and danger which implies the genre of the film. In the example the main image is the largest asset as it’s
the thing which is supposed to attract the audience the most. Here I could put an image of the main character or a
vampire which will tell the story just by looking at it. This is effective as the audience will already know the genre of
the film which someone who like vampire films would like. The tagline could be situated just underneath the main
image however not as big as the title. Once the audience read the tagline, they will ask questions to themselves on
what it means which is engaging them and will make them want to watch the film. The credits and mentions at the
bottom of the poster aren't as attractive as the title and main image however its important they are on the poster
as if the target audience have watched a film by the same company or like a particular actor in the filmit can make
them want to watch the filmweather, they like the genre or not

31. Research
When doing research for my project it involved me lookingat a variety of existing products such as vampire
themed magazine cover, promotionalposter and apocalypticbased game. This helped me develop my project
because it gave me the idea and importance of techniques such as the structure and hierarchyin a poster and
magazine cover and the key componentsneeded in game play and within a menu of a game. I also had to
research how pixel animationswork in frames so that I could successfully apply it all intophotoshop. For my in-
game characters, I had to take inspirationfrom other apocalypticgames and films to create the correct vampire
slayer look and the correct vampirelook.
32. Planning
In the planningphase of the project, I had to set out different waysin which I could execute the project. One
thing I investigatedsome style sheet which are colourschemes or house colourswhich companies keep
consistentlythrough their products. I plannedthat id follow the colourscheme of black, grey, red and orange
because orange gives off connotationsof deceit, Red gives of connotation ofblood and danger and Black and
grey gives off connotationsof secrecy and darkness. I could use these coloursthroughout my
products to maintainconsistency and portray the idea of a scary vampire story. I also had to make concepts on
how I wanted my magazine cover and poster to layoutwhile involvingthe hierarchy techniques to appeal to
the audience. I also had to look at several video game examples and decide which layoutwould be most
suitablefor my video game in which I decided to create and endless runner from left to right as it is simple and
effective. I also created my script for the cut-scene of my game which is between the main character and the
final boss. After that I had to think about the different sound effects and soundtrack I wantedfor the game.
33. Time Management
At the start of the project, I created a 5-week workplan of the different content I needed to create but also
involvingplanningand some research however, for several reasons not all parts had gone to plan so for next
time I will need to work on improvingmy time management skills
34. Technical
Qualities
To create my promotionalposter and
magazine, I decided to use photoshop. The
process involved me to source images from
the internet, create the logo for the film,
prints and game then add text and titles.
It was importantthat I kept consistency in
the color scheme between the two as it like
the brand.
35. Obviouslyto create my animatedpixel game I needed to create lots of diferent
assests for the menu screen e.g buttonsand characterswhich I made and put
together for the game. The game is an endless runner game which meant I had to
create a frame-by-frame anmationof my character moving while also moving my
background to the left ever so slightly multipletimes. I also includeda button
system and health bar at the top of the screen as endless runner games would
do. When making the menu for the game it was almost the same thing however, I
animatedthe cursor to interactwith the sound which turns the soundtrack on the
goes to press 'start' which activatesthe loadingscreen intothe game. One thing
which was importantwas keeping the height and width of the menu, game and
cutscene the same so that the number of pixels doesn’t change to keep consistensy.
For the cutscene I decided to add borders at the bottom and top of the game as it
adds suspence for the final moments of the game. This includes the character and
the vampire speaking to eachother before the animationof the two fighting.
36. Aesthetic Qualities
I think that throughout the different pixel assests and parts of the game, involvinga
retro feel to it was importantfor me as that can be interesting to my audience.I
attemptedto create my logo which I made through photoshopin pixel form which
shows consistency in my products. Obviously, the colour scheme and style sheet
colourshave been kept consistent in black, grey, red, yellow and orange. I went for a
simple characterdesign because I felt that it best suit the look of the game.
37. Aural Qualities
My soundtrack for my game gives off the retro vibes and connitationof which I am looking for for my target audience to grasp.
It also has a dark and deep ring to it which gives off the connitaion ofa vampire or apocalypticgenre which is what the visuals
also suggest. Also, for the different things which occur such as a character running, attacking and gainingpoints there are the
appropriatesound effects for those things on going which emphisises the action more making the game more satisfying
38. Audience Appeal
I was told my promotionalposterwas good and dynamic with my cutouts over a good backgroundhowever, cutouts on the page
could of been done neaterand more precise. I was also told in my magazine cover was exciting and eye catching however, Some
of the text on the cover doesn't stand out too well from the backgroundmaking it harder to read.
39. Overall strengths and weaknesses of the final
package.
One good pointabout my project was keeping consistency in colourscheme within all of my products. after looking at
existing productsand seeing them do it taught me how importantit is to keep consistency as its easily recognisable.
Another good point about my project was my organisationin my work. in previousprojects i would scatter my work
around my computerhowever havingeverything in files it helped finding things easier to import into my different
editing software. Another good point about my project was in my game productionsuccessfully animating frame by
frame an endless runner game.
