Customised individual education programme for
the head of administration at Prime Minister’s office
Enhancing public sector management
LSE Custom Programmes provided tailor-made executive education for the
head of administration at a Prime Minister’s office in a developing country.
The programme’s aim was to deepen the participant’s understanding of the
latest trends and best practices in public sector administration, with specific
emphasis on e-government, total quality management and information
management in the public sector. The programme’s components included
private tutoring by the lead academic in one-to-one sessions, private
discussion meetings with relevant academics and external practitioners,
auditing of a number of Masters-level lectures across LSE, and a significant
amount of research and independent study.
The participant gained a better understanding of goals, objectives and
functions in the public sector from a number of perspectives. The course
provided a comprehensive overview of the government policy development
process, but more importantly gave the participant knowledge of strategic
thinking in policy formulation and execution across a multitude of related
disciplines. The exposure to best practices in public sector management –
from both theoretical and practitioners’ perspectives, using a comparative
review approach – offered invaluable insights for design and implementation
of policies and management practices back at the home government.

Customised individual education programme for the head of administration at Prime Minister’s office Enhancing public sector management LSE Custom Programmes provided tailor-made executive education for the head of administration at a Prime Minister’s office in a developing country. The programme’s aim was to deepen the participant’s understanding of the latest trends and best practices in public sector administration, with specific emphasis on e-government, total quality management and information management in the public sector. The programme’s components included private tutoring by the lead academic in one-to-one sessions, private discussion meetings with relevant academics and external practitioners, auditing of a number of Masters-level lectures across LSE, and a significant amount of research and independent study. The participant gained a better understanding of goals, objectives and functions in the public sector from a number of perspectives. The course provided a comprehensive overview of the government policy development process, but more importantly gave the participant knowledge of strategic thinking in policy formulation and execution across a multitude of related disciplines. The exposure to best practices in public sector management – from both theoretical and practitioners’ perspectives, using a comparative review approach – offered invaluable insights for design and implementation of policies and management practices back at the home government.
