This document proposes adding peer-to-peer (P2P) support to the open-source VoIP and video conferencing application WengoPhone. The author plans to implement a P2P-SIP architecture using a Chord distributed hash table within a hierarchical network of super nodes. Key aspects to be addressed include integrating the P2P layer into the SIP protocol stack, supporting locality and proximity, and evaluating security through analyzing potential attacks and implementing countermeasures. The proposed timeline is to complete the work by the end of April 2006, with evaluation based on scalability testing and damage assessment from conducted attack scenarios.
