Peter preached to the crowd about Jesus's death and resurrection, telling them to repent and be baptized in Jesus's name to receive forgiveness and the Holy Spirit. About 3000 people believed and were baptized that day. The new believers devoted themselves to learning from the apostles, fellowship, breaking bread together, and prayer. Many signs and wonders were performed through the apostles, bringing both belief and fear. All believers shared possessions communally and met daily in the temple and each other's homes, praising God with gladness.

2. Peter preached Jesus, taken by the Jews and killed by the Romans, and raised up by God to be Lord and Christ. 37 Now when they heard this , they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do ?

3. 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the Name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 39 For the Promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. Every man or woman must act on his conviction -- on his faith. Repent -- turn from a life of sin, unto God .

4. 40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this unto-ward generation. Israel had committed grievous sin : Both rejecting and murdering their Messiah. As a nation , they were in serious trouble . But individuals could be saved, by receiving the Gospel of Jesus and asking God to save .

5. 41 Then they that gladly received his Word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls .

6. Received his Word God gave His Son, Jesus, to die for us, Shedding His Blood to wash away our sin. Jesus died on a Roman cross at the hands of wicked men, and was raised the third day. All who will repent and be baptized will be saved and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost .

7. The church was off to a good start. Wouldn't you have liked to have been there?

8. 42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. The truly born again will continue steadfastly. In other words, they gathered together to hear the Word of God taught, to pray together , and to enjoy the fellowship of believers.

9. 43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles. Even the unbelievers were amazed by the wonders and signs done by the apostles.

10. 44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common; 45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. They thought Jesus would be right back. They loved one another as they loved the Lord; They didn't want any distractions .

11. 46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart , 47 Praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved. A happy church will be a soul-winning church.

12. John 15 (Jesus) 11 These things have I spoken unto you, that My joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. Hold it up as the Standard, and live by every Word.
