THE GREAT COMMISSION IN TEN PARTS Part 3
PART THREE: THE PLACE: ALL THE WORLD The five accounts of the Great Commission are in: Matthew 28; Mark 16; Luke 24; John 20; Acts 1.
There are ten subjects relating to the Great Commission in these five chapters. Notice three points that will help us understand the importance of this third lesson.
1 - The significance of Jesus’ words. Matt All nations Mark All the world-Every creature Luke Among all nations, (KJV) Acts To Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, all the earth
All these terms were used by the Lord in His teaching during the forty days after His resurrection.
These terms are fitting because He died for all people in all places during all of history 1 John 2:2 NET and he himself is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not
only for our sins but also for the whole world. John 1:29 NET On the next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Look, the Lamb of God who takes away the
sin of the world! John 3:16 NET For this is the way God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
Galatians 3:25 NET But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian. 26 For in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God through faith. 27 For all of you
who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, There is in this sonship by faith in Christ, no class
privileged above another, as the Jews under the law had been above the Gentiles there is neither slave nor free, Christ alike belongs to both by faith; whence he puts
“ slave ” before “ free .” there is neither male nor female rather, as Greek, “there is not male and female.” There is no distinction into male and female. Difference of
sex makes no difference in Christian privileges. But under the law the male sex had great privileges. Males alone had in their body circumcision, the sign of
the covenant (contrast baptism applied to male and female alike); they alone were capable of being kings and priests, whereas all of either sex are now “kings and
priests unto God” they had prior right to inheritances. In the resurrection the relation of the sexes shall cease for all of you are one in Christ Jesus.
Greek, “one man”; masculine, not neuter, namely “one new man” in Christ (JFB) 29 And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's descendants, heirs
according to the promise. Titus 2:11 NET For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all people. 12 It trains us to reject godless ways and worldly desires and to
live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, 13 as we wait for the happy fulfillment of our hope in the glorious appearing of our great God and
Savior, Jesus Christ. 14 He gave himself for us to set us free from every kind of lawlessness and to purify for himself a people who are truly his, who are eager to do good.
Romans 1:16 NET For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is God's power for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. Here the Greek
refers to anyone who is not Jewish. (NET Notes) It is His will for all of us to be saved. 1 Timothy 2:4 NET since he wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
2 Peter 3:9 NET The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some regard slowness, but is being patient toward you, because he does not wish for any to perish but for
all to come to repentance. Revelation 22:17 NET And the Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" And let the one who hears say: "Come!" And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one
who wants it take the water of life free of charge. 2 - The example of the early church. Acts 1-7 They started in Jerusalem and Judea, just
as Jesus had commanded in the Great Commission Acts 8 They were scattered to many other places due to persecution, but they took the gospel with them.
Acts 9-28 Luke’s account quickly moves to examples of preaching and teaching in many other parts of the world.
3 - Points for us to observe. There is no distinction in Christ. Galatians 3:28 NET There is neither Jew …Greek…slave… free… Male… female for all … are one in Christ Jesus.
Colossians 3:10 NET and have been clothed with the new man that is being renewed in knowledge according to the image of the one who created it. 11 Here there is
Neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all and in all.
Romans 1:16 NET For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is God's power for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. 17 For the
righteousness of God is revealed in the gospel from faith to faith, just as it is written, "The righteous by faith will live."
Romans 9:23 NET And what if he is willing to make known the wealth of his glory on the objects of mercy that he has prepared beforehand for glory 24 even us, whom
he has called, not only from the Jews but also from the Gentiles? 25 As he also says in Hosea: "I will call those who were not my people, 'My people,' and I will call
her who was unloved, 'My beloved.' “ ( Hos 2:23 ) 26 "And in the very place where it was said to them, 'You are not my people,' there they will be called 'sons of the living God.' " ( Hos 1:10 )
10:1 Brothers and sisters, my heart's desire and prayer to God on behalf of my Fellow Israelites is for their salvation. 2 For I can testify that they are zealous for God,
but their zeal is not in line with the truth. 3 For ignoring the righteousness that comes from God, and seeking instead to establish their own righteousness, they
they did not submit to God's righteousness. 4 For Christ is the end of the law, with the result that there is righteousness for everyone who believes.
10:12 For there is no distinction between the Jew and the Greek, for the same Lord is Lord of all, who richly blesses all who call on him. 13 For everyone who calls on
the name of the Lord will be saved . ( Joel 2:32 ) 14 How are they to call on one they have not believed in? And how are they to believe in one they have not heard of?
And how are they to hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How timely is the arrival of those who
proclaim the good news.” ( Isa 52:7; Nah 1:15 ) 16 But not all have obeyed the good news, for Isaiah says, “ Lord, who has believed our report?” ( Isa 53:1 ) 17 Consequently faith comes
from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the preached word of Christ. 18 But I ask, have they not heard? Yes, they have: Their voice has gone out to all
the earth, and their words to the ends of the world. ( Ps 19:4 ) Their voice (that of the preachers of the gospel) has gone out to all the earth . When the vast multitude converted
on Pentecost were scattered to their homes, they carried the gospel into all parts of the civilized world. Paul was now writing to the church in Rome, where
no apostle had ever been. (PNT) 19 But again I ask, didn't Israel understand? First Moses says, “I will make you jealous by those who are not a nation; with a senseless
nation I will provoke you to anger.” ( Deut 32:21 ) 20 And Isaiah is even bold enough to say, “I was found by those who did not seek me; I became well known to those who
did not ask for me.” ( Isa 65:1 ) 21 But about Israel he says, “All day long I held out my hands to this disobedient and stubborn people!” ( Isa 65:2 )
Romans 11:9 And David says, “Let their table become a snare and trap, a stumbling block and a retribution for them; 10 let their eyes be darkened so that they
may not see, and make their backs bend continually.” ( Ps 69:22-23 ) 11 I ask then, they did not stumble into an irrevocable fall, did they? Absolutely not! But by their transgression
salvation has come to the Gentiles, to make Israel jealous. 12 Now if their transgression means riches for the world and their defeat means riches for the
Gentiles, how much more will their full restoration bring? 13 Now I am speaking to you Gentiles. Seeing that I am an apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my
ministry, 14 if somehow I could provoke my people to jealousy and save some of them. 15 For if their rejection is the reconciliation of the world, what will their
acceptance be but life from the dead? 16 If the first portion of the dough offered is holy, then the whole batch is holy, and if the root is holy, so too are the branches. 17 Now
if some of the branches were broken off, and you, a wild olive shoot, were grafted in among them and participated in the richness of the olive root, 18 do not boast over the
branches. But if you boast, remember that you do not support the root, but the root supports you. 19 Then you will say, "The branches were broken off so that I could
be grafted in." 20 Granted! They were broken off because of their unbelief, but you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but fear! 21 For if God did not spare the natural
branches, perhaps he will not spare you. 22 Notice therefore the kindness and harshness of God harshness toward those who have fallen, but God's kindness toward
you, provided you continue in his kindness; otherwise you also will be cut off. 23 And even they if they do not continue in their unbelief will be grafted in, for
God is able to graft them in again. 24 For if you were cut off from what is by nature a wild olive tree, and grafted, contrary to nature, into a cultivated
olive tree, how much more will these natural branches be grafted back into their own olive tree? 25 For I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers and
sisters, so that you may not be conceited: A partial hardening has happened to Israel until the full number of the Gentiles has come in. 26 And so all Israel will be
saved, as it is written: “The Deliverer will come out of Zion; he will remove ungodliness from Jacob. 27 And this is my covenant with them, ( Isa 59:20-21 )
when I take away their sins.” ( Isa 27:9; Jer 31:33-34 ) 28 In regard to the gospel they are enemies for your sake, but in regard to election they are dearly loved for the sake of the
fathers. 29 For the gifts and the call of God are irrevocable. 30 Just as you were formerly disobedient to God, but have now received mercy due to their
disobedience, 31 so they too have now been disobedient in order that, by the mercy shown to you, they too may now receive mercy. 32 For God has consigned all
people to disobedience so that he may show mercy to them all. First the Gentiles were disobedient, but now were called. Now the Jews were disobedient,
but would finally be saved. God would have mercy on all, both Jew and Gentile. (PNT) 33 Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How
unsearchable are his judgments and how fathomless his ways! 34 For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor? ( Isa 40:13 ) 35 Or
who has first given to God, that God needs to repay him? ( Job 41:11 ) 36 For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever! Amen.
There is equality in Christ Acts 10, 11 Cornelius Prays, God answers, Peter has Vision, Gentiles Converted
Ephesians 2:1 NET And although you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2 in which you formerly lived according to this world's present path, according to the
ruler of the kingdom of the air, the ruler of the spirit that is now energizing the sons of disobedience, 3 among whom all of us also formerly lived out our
lives in the cravings of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath even as the rest… 4 But God, being rich in mercy,
because of his great love with which he loved us, 5 even though we were dead in transgressions, made us alive together with Christ by grace you are saved! 6 and he
raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7 to demonstrate in the coming ages the surpassing wealth of his
grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 it is not from works, so that no
one can boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, having been created in Christ Jesus for good works that God prepared beforehand so we may do
them. 11 Therefore remember that formerly you, the Gentiles in the flesh who are called "uncircumcision" by the so-called "circumcision" that is performed on the
body by human hands 12 that you were at that time without the Messiah, alienated from the citizenship of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise,
having no hope and without God in the world. 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who used to be far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ. 14 For
he is our peace, the one who made both groups into one and who destroyed the middle wall of partition, the hostility, 15 when he nullified in his flesh the
law of commandments in decrees. He did this to create in himself one new man out of two, thus making peace, 16 and to reconcile them both in one body to God through
the cross, by which the hostility has been killed. 17 And he came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near, 18 so that through
him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father. 19 So then you are no longer foreigners and noncitizens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members
of God's household, 20 because you have been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone. 21 In him
the whole building, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, 22 in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.
Everyone needs the blood of Christ. Romans 3:23 NET for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. 24 But they are justified freely by his grace through the
redemption that is in Christ Jesus. Romans 5:8 NET But God demonstrates his own love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, because we have now been declared righteous by
his blood, we will be saved through him from God's wrath. Matthew 26:28 NET for this is my blood, the blood of the covenant, that is poured out for many for
the forgiveness of sins. Hebrews 9:28 NET so also, after Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many, to those who eagerly await Him he will appear a second time, not to
bear sin but to bring salvation. Romans 6:3 NET Or do you not know that as many as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 Therefore we have been
buried with him through baptism into death, in order that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too may live a new life.
The simple gospel is the only thing that can save sinful people. 2 Corinthians 11:3 NET But I am afraid that just as the serpent deceived Eve by his treachery, your minds
may be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ. Romans 1:16 NET For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is God's power for salvation to everyone
who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. Multiplied millions of those who are now living have never even heard the name of Jesus, much
less the pure gospel! What are you and I doing about obeying the command to get the truth to everyone on earth before they and we die?
