Acts 1 1 The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, 2 Until the day in which He was taken up, after that He through the Holy Ghost had given Commandments unto the apostles whom He had chosen: 3 To whom also He shewed Himself alive after His passion by many infallible proofs , being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the Kingdom of God:

4. 4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the Promise of the Father, which, saith He, ye have heard of Me. 5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. 6 When they therefore were come together, they asked of Him, saying, Lord, wilt Thou at this time restore again the Kingdom to Israel?

5. 7 And He said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in His Own Power. 8 But ye shall receive Power , after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto Me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

6. "Unto the uttermost part of the earth" That is still our commission -- the spread of the Gospel of Jesus Christ into all the world. But I believe it was accomplished by the Apostles and Disciples unto whom Jesus was speaking. Look at most pagan religions , and you will find elements of the True Gospel. Yes, it has been twisted and perverted in 2000 years, but the core of the Gospel is there. Not all believed , but they heard the Truth.

7. 9 And when He had spoken these things, while they beheld, He was taken up; and a cloud received Him out of their sight. Mark 16 19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, He was received up into Heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.

8. 10 And while they looked steadfastly toward Heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; 11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into Heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into Heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen Him go into Heaven.

9. All the work of God from that day forward is done by the church, the body of Jesus Christ. John 16 (Jesus) 7 Nevertheless I tell you the Truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send Him unto you. The work of God is multiplied by the indwelling of His Holy Spirit in every believer. We are empowered to do the Will of God.

10. No longer is Jesus the only Spirit-filled One doing the Will of the Father. John 20 21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as My Father hath sent Me, even so send I you. 22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost : Since the Day of Pentecost, every believer is baptized by the Holy Ghost into the body of Christ. He comes into us and we are empowered by Him.

11. Let us each do our part in the body of Christ.

12. What gifts do you have? Use them for Jesus . What can you do ? Do it for the Lord .

13. I love to teach . But I don't only use that gift in the church. Whatever you can do , do it for Jesus: To encourage and help your brothers and sisters; To see lost souls saved from sin and from hell. Perhaps you have a gift of hospitality. Use it to help the needy; Use it to reach neighbors.
