The church in Pergamum was commended for holding fast to Christ's name even when one of their members, Antipas, was martyred for his faith. However, some in the church had embraced the teachings of Balaam, who led Israel into idolatry and sexual immorality, and the teachings of the Nicolaitans, who encouraged the same. The church was warned to repent or face judgment from Christ with his sharp, two-edged sword.
The document discusses the biblical concept of atonement. It notes that atonement means "at-one-ment" or being "at one" with God. It explores multiple Bible passages showing Jesus and the Father being "one" in works and purpose. It indicates Jesus' works of healing and helping people fulfilled Isaiah's prophecy. It suggests true followers of Christ will perform similar works of healing, helping the oppressed, feeding the hungry, and uplifting those in need. By doing these works, believers can experience at-one-ment with God and others.
Dr. Kellogg argued that while some believed the loud cry had already begun, the works described in scripture that should precede the loud cry had not fully been carried out by Seventh-day Adventists. He believed that Adventists must do more in areas of health, charity, and helping the needy before the loud cry could make a significant impact. Others like A.T. Jones believed the loud cry had already begun through the revelation of Christ's righteousness. There was disagreement around whether Adventists were adequately fulfilling their missional responsibilities prior to the loud cry.
This document compares scripture passages from the Bible and the New International Version (NIV) translation. It notes several words and phrases that are missing or changed in the NIV compared to the original texts, including removing references to "God", "Christ", and "Holy". In some cases, entire verses are missing from the NIV. The document suggests these omissions and changes alter the intended meaning and message of the biblical passages.

The document discusses the need for churches to fulfill their duty of helping those in need through acts of service and charity. It suggests that when churches actively work to relieve suffering in their communities through programs like medical missionary work, God will bless their efforts and use them to spread his message throughout the world. It also notes that failing to engage in works of mercy keeps churches from prospering.
This document provides an overview and summary of key passages from Philippians chapter 1. It discusses Paul's confidence that God will complete the good work He began in believers, perfecting them until Christ's return. Several Bible verses are analyzed in the context of salvation being wholly God's work from beginning to end. The theme of Philippians as bringing joy is also mentioned.

This document discusses how Christians have lost connection with God's appointed feast days and cycle of blessings outlined in the Old Testament. It argues that Satan has stolen this understanding by persuading Christians that the Old Testament is inferior or irrelevant. However, the New Testament valued the Old Testament and early Christians based their teachings and practices on it for decades before the New Testament was written. Reconnecting with the Old Testament feasts and cycle can help restore blessings intended by God.
The document examines evidence for Jesus being God, including prophecies about him from the Old Testament that were fulfilled, miracles he performed, and testimony from the New Testament and early Christians. It notes there were over 300 prophecies about the Messiah's first coming that were all fulfilled in Jesus. The odds of anyone fulfilling just 8 prophecies are 1 in 100 quadrillion, demonstrating the supernatural nature of the Bible. The document concludes the evidence confirms Jesus is God as he claimed.
The document is a summary of a sermon discussing the difference between imputed and imparted righteousness. It explains that imputed righteousness refers to God crediting believers with Christ's righteousness based on faith alone at salvation. Imparted righteousness refers to the righteous nature implanted within believers by the Holy Spirit that transforms them from within through sanctification. Both are necessary - one is declared, the other is developed through cooperation with the Spirit.
This document discusses the symbolism of the church of Laodicea representing the spiritual condition of God's people from 1844 to the close of probation. It describes Laodicea as being under judgment due to being lukewarm, self-satisfied, and in need of spiritual revival. Key points include that judgment occurred only in the most holy place of the heavenly sanctuary, and that the restoration of God's sanctuary and people coincides with the cleansing of sin and restoration to Christ's image. It calls God's people to open their hearts to Christ's invitation to buy from Him the gold of faith, white raiment of righteousness, and eyesalve of spiritual discernment.
This document discusses the message to the church of Laodicea from Revelation chapter 3. It provides historical context about the seven churches and explains that Laodicea represents the church being judged from 1844 to the second coming of Christ. The sins of Laodicea are described as being lukewarm, self-satisfied, and in spiritual poverty despite outward wealth. The remedies given are to buy gold tried in the fire, white raiment, and eyesalve in order to receive spiritual riches, righteousness, and discernment. Application is made to Adventists to heed this message through a revival of spiritual life and reformation of ideas.
The document outlines key aspects of the plan of salvation according to Seventh-day Adventist theology. It begins with sin separating humanity from God in the Garden of Eden. God then devised the plan of redemption to restore humanity and bring them back into communion with Him. This involved various prophecies and types found in the Old Testament sanctuary services that pointed to Jesus' ministry in the heavenly sanctuary. Jesus' death on the cross and entrance into the Most Holy Place of the heavenly sanctuary in 1844 are significant events in cleansing the sanctuary and carrying out the final atonement for God's people. Those who understand and hold to these truths will work to prepare others for Christ's second coming.
Health Reform and Preparing For The Final CrisisAntonio Bernard
The document discusses health reform and preparation for the final crisis or latter rain. It summarizes that God's plan is to restore humanity back into His image through the work of redemption. This involves restoring the perfection humanity had at creation and promoting the harmonious development of the body, mind and soul. The plan of redemption also aims to vindicate God's character before the universe by demonstrating His love through Christ. As the sanctuary doctrine teaches, God desires to dwell among His people and the heavenly sanctuary was opened in 1844 as Christ began the final atonement work to cleanse humanity. This cleansing process involves God's people purifying themselves on earth as Christ cleanses the temple in heaven.
We have essentially told him that Jesus would give him all the things that would enhance his life. Then when persecution and tribulation comes, he falls away. When life gets hard, he becomes bitter, casting off the Savior and consequently resenting those that had told him the “good news”.

This presentation examines what the Church was designed by God to be, what it is today, and issues such as separation of Church and State, and much more.
The document discusses the Christian doctrine of the virgin birth of Jesus Christ. It provides biblical references and prophecies that are cited as evidence for believing Jesus was born of a virgin. It also addresses objections that claim the virgin birth story was borrowed from pagan myths or that the relevant passages have been misinterpreted. The document examines both sides of the debate in a thorough but balanced manner.
Here is my attempt to explain in short fashion what the Bible has to tell us about the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, complete with my own short testimony of who God “zapped” me in as a Marine Lieutenant in Japan in 1973. The document is a summary of John 1:19-36 from a church service. It discusses John the Baptist denying he is the Messiah or Elijah when questioned by priests and Levites. John says he is the voice preparing the way for the Lord, as prophesied by Isaiah. The next day, John sees Jesus and declares him to be the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. John baptizes with water to make Jesus manifest to Israel, while Jesus baptizes with the Holy Spirit.
The document discusses the importance of medical missionary work and how it relates to the atonement and Christ's work. It states that medical missionary work done in service to others is how we show we are "at one" with Christ and how the gospel will spread to cover the earth. It emphasizes that churches must engage in active service and helping those in need through medical missionary work in order to prosper spiritually.
This presentation moves verse-by-verse through the first chapter of Revelation and sets the stage for Christ's seven letters to His seven churches of the ancient world.
The document discusses the role and work of the Holy Spirit. It notes that the disciples were afraid after Jesus told them he was leaving, but Jesus explained that it was better because the Holy Spirit would come. The Holy Spirit works through the church to reconcile people to God. The Holy Spirit's job is to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment in order to bring people to salvation through Christ. He teaches believers and helps them understand Scripture.

In this fifth stage in the ENCOUNTER series I teach on the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. One of the most empowering experiences a Christian can have in their spiritual journey.
As I prepared and taught this, I was super mindful of the spectrum of beliefs and experiences around this topic. Even in my home Church we have a series of experiences that are quite different to one another.
That said, I’m convinced in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit as an empowering experience available to believers so they are more useful and effective for Kingdom orientated ministry.
I also cover off on the topic of “speaking in other tongues” and how it is available to believers as an empowering and edifying discipline for our discipleship.
You’re invited to head into a deeper, more dynamic and empowered relationship with Jesus. The key is the personal spiritual revolution that comes from the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

1) Unjust suffering is something that happens to all people, as life often deals unfair hardships regardless of one's character or actions.
2) While suffering unjustly is difficult, the passage notes that enduring it with faith in God can gain His favor and approval.
3) Christians are called to follow Christ's example of suffering unjustly, as He endured persecution and crucifixion despite living a sinless life, in order to save humanity. Facing hardship in a Christ-like manner through non-retaliation and commitment to God can reflect His character.

14 Idolatry - Then and Now 1 Corinthians 10:1-33Rick Peterson
This document provides a summary of Paul's letter to the Corinthians regarding eating food sacrificed to idols. Paul warns the Corinthians not to be overconfident in their spiritual knowledge and immunity to temptation. He cites examples from Israel's history where God judged the Israelites for idolatry and other sins despite delivering them from Egypt. Paul argues that eating food sacrificed to idols puts one in fellowship with demons and jeopardizes one's spiritual safety. He urges the Corinthians to consider how their actions might affect other believers and to do all things for God's glory.

1 Choices Have Consequences 2 Thessalonians 1Rick Peterson
The document discusses the benefits of exercise for mental health. Regular physical activity can help reduce anxiety and depression and improve mood and cognitive functioning. Exercise causes chemical changes in the brain that may help boost feelings of calmness, happiness and focus.
Paul prays that the Philippians' love will grow through knowledge and discernment so they can approve excellent things and be sincere and blameless until Christ's return. He is confident that God, who began the good work of salvation in believers, will perfect it at Christ's coming. Paul longs for the Philippians with Christ's affection and hopes their righteousness will glorify God.
Paul writes that while he longs to depart this life and be with Christ, which would be better, remaining on earth is necessary for the Philippians' sake so that he can continue helping them grow in faith and bring them joy. He urges them to conduct themselves in a way that is worthy of the gospel of Christ by standing firm and striving together, whether he is present with them or absent.
This document provides an overview of the sermon given at First Baptist Church in Jackson, Mississippi on September 4, 2016. The sermon focused on 1 Peter 1:1-9 and discussed the "living hope" that Christians have through their faith in Jesus Christ. Some of the key points made in the sermon include: (1) Christians will face trials but their faith is strengthened through enduring them, (2) believers should focus on the eternal inheritance in heaven that Jesus has prepared rather than their current circumstances, and (3) having a "living hope" means having confidence in Jesus who conquered death and rose from the dead. The sermon emphasized that the Christian's hope provides joy even in troubles and is made certain by
This is a collection of writings dealing with the joy of the Holy Spirit that comes to us when we live in obedience and walk in His way, even if it be the way of persecution.

It then provides biblical examples of Jesus and the disciples fulfilling God's mission, discusses key dimensions like the biblical, historical, cultural and strategic aspects, and outlines how the early church spread the message of the gospel throughout the world in obedience to the Great Commission.
Our little Church is using a Chronological Bible Reading Schedule by Skip Andrews. It can be found here: http://www.churchofchristduluthga.org/
Each Sunday a lesson is given from some of that week's reading. This lesson covers July 27-Aug 2.
The document discusses why the gospel is important. It provides three key reasons:
1) The gospel is the power of God for salvation (Romans 1:16). It is the only thing that can rescue people from sin and death.
2) The gospel was the central focus of Jesus and Paul's lives and ministries. They devoted themselves to preaching the gospel.
3) The gospel serves as the foundation for the Christian life. It impacts how believers live and provides strength during trials. Living according to the gospel ensures one's spiritual house will withstand storms.
This document provides commentary on Philippians 1:23-27 from the Bible. It discusses how Paul desired to depart this life and be with Christ in heaven, which he viewed as far better than remaining on Earth. However, Paul was willing to remain on Earth for the sake of helping other believers. He urged the Philippians to conduct themselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ by standing united in faith regardless of whether Paul could visit them again. The commentary provides historical context and analyzes various Greek words and phrases used in these passages.
This document is a chapter from a book about the Holy Spirit by Kathryn Kuhlman. The chapter discusses the Holy Spirit's work in the Old Testament. It describes how the Holy Spirit gave Joseph wisdom to interpret Pharaoh's dreams. It also explains that the Holy Spirit gave craftsmen the skills to build the perfect tabernacle, and gave Moses and seventy counselors one purpose to lead Israel. The overall message is that the Holy Spirit has always been at work, empowering individuals in the Old Testament.
This document is an excerpt from a book by Kathryn Kuhlman about the Holy Spirit. It discusses how the Holy Spirit has always existed and was present at Creation. It describes a conference in Heaven where God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit devised a plan for humanity's redemption, with Jesus offering himself as the sacrifice. The Holy Spirit then began promoting and revealing Jesus to humanity in preparation for his incarnation.
This document contains a sermon that discusses four things Paul prayed that believers would know about God: His person, calling, riches, and power. It encourages readers to deepen their knowledge of God beyond just knowing Him as savior, and to understand the spiritual wealth they possess through Christ by having the eyes of their heart enlightened by the Holy Spirit. The sermon uses various passages from Ephesians and other books of the Bible to illustrate what it means to know God on a personal level and how believers can appreciate Him more fully.
The document discusses the concept of being "called" in the Bible. It provides several verses from the New Testament where the word "call" is used in reference to God summoning or inviting people to salvation. It also discusses the original Greek meanings of "a call" as getting someone's attention, a summons such as to court, or an invitation such as to a feast. The document emphasizes that the regular New Testament meaning of "call" refers to a religious summons or invitation from God.
The document provides an overview of the gospel message in 3 parts:
1) It explains why we need Jesus due to our sin and its consequences of judgment and hell.
2) It describes what Jesus did for us through his sinless life, death on the cross, and resurrection to pay for our sins and defeat death.
3) It discusses how we can receive eternal life through faith in Jesus and repentance from sins.

It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375

The Book of Ruth is included in the third division, or the Writings, of the Hebrew Bible. In most Christian canons it is treated as one of the historical books and placed between Judges and 1 Samuel.
1. 1 Peter 1 (Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary) (Peoples New Testament Notes) 1Peter1:1-9 The apostle blesses God for his special benefits through Christ. 1 Peter 1:1 MSG I, Peter, am an apostle on assignment by Jesus, the Messiah, writing to exiles scattered to the four winds. Not one is missing, not one forgotten.
2. The first letter of Peter opens as do the other apostolic letters. Peter claims no superiority. “ writing to exiles” He does not address Jews generally but Jewish Christians primarily, though in portions of the letter he seems to embrace Gentile Christians also.
3. “ scattered to the four winds” The Jewish race outside of Judea. The letter is directed to the churches in five provinces of the Roman empire which Paul had evangelized, all lying in a group south of the Euxine Sea and east of the Caspian.
4. 1 Peter 1:1 CEV From Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ. To God's people who are scattered like foreigners in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia.
5.
6. 2 God the Father has his eye on each of you, and has determined by the work of the Spirit to keep you obedient through the sacrifice of Jesus. May everything good from God be yours!
7. “ God the Father has his eye on each of you,” Their election and salvation was in accordance with God's predetermined purpose to save men through the gospel, and hence, according to foreknowledge.
8. “ has determined by the work of the Spirit,” The means by which they become elect are pointed out. They were separated from the world by the gospel, the word of the Spirit, a sanctification which signifies "a setting apart to holy uses."
9. They were thus separated “ obedient through the sacrifice of Jesus.” In obeying this they were "baptized into the death of Christ" and their sins were pardoned. The sanctification in this case precedes obedience and pardon.
10. Romans 6:1 MSG So what do we do? Keep on sinning so God can keep on forgiving? 2 I should hope not! If we've left the country where sin is sovereign, how can we still live in our old house there? 3 Or didn't you realize we packed up and left there for good? That is what happened in baptism.
11. When we went under the water, we left the old country of sin behind; when we came up out of the water, we entered into the new country of grace--a new life in a new land! That's what baptism into the life of Jesus means. 4 When we are lowered into the water, it is like the burial of Jesus; when we are raised up out of the water, it is like the resurrection of Jesus.
12. “ May everything good from God be yours!” “ 3 What a God we have!” The ground of special thanksgiving is that the Father, out of his overflowing mercy, “ we've been given a brand-new life.” Has caused us to be born again as his children.
13. “ and have everything to live for,” As children we have a glorious hope of eternal life through the resurrection of Jesus. “ 4 including a future in heaven--and the future starts now!” The hope is not merely of eternal existence, but we become heirs of God, joint heirs with Christ.
14. “ 5 God is keeping careful watch over us and the future.” The inheritance is reserved for those who are kept safe by God's power, through faith, so that they endure to the end. “ The Day is coming when you'll have it all--life healed and whole.”
15. “ 6 I know how great this makes you feel,” In this glorious hope you rejoice. “ even though you have to put up with every kind of aggravation in the meantime.” This implies that a persecution was in progress, or threatened. Trials which put faith and patience to the test.
16. “ 7 Pure gold put in the fire comes out of it proved pure; genuine faith put through this suffering comes out proved genuine.” These persecutions try their faith as gold is tried by the fire, and the faith that stands the test,
17. “ When Jesus wraps this all up, it's your faith, not your gold, that God will have on display as evidence of his victory.” The present afflictions work out a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.
18. “ 8 You never saw him, yet you love him. You still don't see him, yet you trust him.” Though not having seen Christ, they knew him by faith. “ with laughter and singing.” Because they believe upon him whom they have not seen they are filled with the unspeakable joy of a glorious hope.
19. “ 9 Because you kept on believing, you'll get what you're looking forward to: total salvation.” The object of the gospel, "the faith," and of their faith was salvation.
20. 1Peter 1:10-12 Salvation by Christ foretold in ancient prophecy. 1 Peter 1:10 MSG The prophets who told us this was coming asked a lot of questions about this gift of life God was preparing.
21. This passage implies that the prophets used words and symbols, at the dictation of the Spirit, of which they did not comprehend the full meaning. They spoke of Christ and salvation, and then diligently inquired what the Spirit of Christ in them did signify by these words.
22. “ 11 The Messiah's Spirit let them in on some of it--that the Messiah would experience suffering, followed by glory. They clamored to know who and when.” They spoke of the sufferings of Christ (see Isaiah, 53 ) but could not understand these predictions any better than the Jews of Christ's time.
23. See Luke 24:25 MSG Then he said to them, "So thick-headed! So slow-hearted! Why can't you simply believe all that the prophets said? 26 Don’t you see that these things had to happen, that the Messiah had to suffer and only then enter into his glory?"
24. “ 12 All they were told was that they were serving you,” The prophets were, however, taught that the subject matter of their predictions related to a future time, not to their own.
25. “ the Message of those prophecies fulfilled” The things which were fulfilled by the gospel “ you who by orders from heaven have now heard for yourselves--through the Holy Spirit” Paul and his companions, who preached under the influence of the Holy Spirit.
26. “ Do you realize how fortunate you are? Angels would have given anything to be in on this!” The profound mysteries of the gospel were subjects of earnest inquiry to the angels, an indication that like the prophets they could not understand until the mystery was revealed.
27. 1Peter 1:13-16 All are exhorted to holy conversation. 1 Peter 1:13 MSG So roll up your sleeves, put your mind in gear, A figure drawn from the custom of girding the loins when about to start on a journey. So the Christian must prepare himself as on a journey.
28. “ be totally ready to receive the gift that's coming when Jesus arrives.” Let there be sobriety of spirit. “ 14 Don’t lazily slip back into those old grooves of evil, doing just what you feel like doing. You didn't know any better then; you do now.” Never let the glow of your hope cease until the great consummation, when Christ comes.
29. “ 15 As obedient children,” An invariable characteristic of all Christians. The divisions between God's children and the children of this world turns on obedience to God.
30. “ let yourselves be pulled into a way of life shaped by God's life, a life energetic and blazing with holiness.” The spirit of obedience would cause them to turn away from their former sinful life when in ignorance of the gospel.
31. “ 16 God said, ‘I am holy; you be holy.” God the Father, to whom the calling is assigned in the Scriptures. Obedient children will seek to please and to be like their father.
32. “ Our Father is holy, and the duty rests upon us of seeking holy lives.” We must not only submit to God's commands but seek to imitate his holiness.
33. 1Peter 1:17-25 Such as is suitable to their principles, privileges, and obligations. “ 1 Peter 1:17 MSG You call out to God for help and he helps” In prayer and worship. All call upon him who pray.
34. “ he's a good Father that way.” He judges us and all men according to the deeds, not station or race. Hence, those who seek his blessings and promises should show a reverential fear. That is the first reason given for being "holy."
35. “ But don't forget, he's also a responsible Father, and won't let you get by with sloppy living. Your life is a journey you must travel with a deep consciousness of God.” The whole life is a period of sojourning on the earth.
36. “ 18 It cost God plenty” Gold or earthly wealth could never have wrought our redemption. “ to get you out of that dead-end, empty-headed life you grew up in.” Vain and profitless manner of life.
37. This was true of Jewish Christians, but still more true of the heathen who had been converted.
38. “ 19 He paid with Christ's sacred blood, you know. He died like an unblemished, sacrificial lamb.” The New Testament writers with one accord refer to Christ as "the Lamb of God, who taketh away the sin of the world."
39. 20 And this was no afterthought. Even though it has only lately--at the end of the ages--become public knowledge, God always knew he was going to do this for you.
40. See John 1:29 MSG The very next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and yelled out, 30 “Here he is, God's Passover Lamb! He forgives the sins of the world! This is the man I've been talking about, 'the One who comes after me but is really ahead of me.'
41. Christ was the center of God's plans of salvation from the beginning.
42. “ 21 It’s because of this sacrificed Messiah, whom God then raised from the dead and glorified,” Though Christ was God's plan from the beginning he was only manifested in these last times.
43. “ that you trust God, that you know you have a future in God.” Faith, with Peter as well as Paul, is essential to salvation. The salvation is of God, not of ourselves, and is made ours by faith.
44. “ 22 Now that you've cleaned up your lives.” The Greek verb rendered " cleaned ," occurs seven times in the New Testament. In four of these, John 11:55 ; Act 21:24 , Act 21:26 ; and Act 24:18 , it refers to ceremonial purification.
45. In the other three it refers to moral purification; the cleansing of the life from its sins. That seems to be the sense here. It refers not only to the forgiveness of sins but to the pure life that should follow.
46. This purification is obtained “ by following the truth,” That is, by obedience to the gospel. “ love one another as if your lives depended on it.” The Spirit of Christ in our hearts is the spirit of brotherly love. How can one profess to follow Christ unless he loves those for whom Christ died?
47. “ 23 Your new life is not like your old life.” At conversion. See John 3:1-6 MSG There was a man of the Pharisee sect, Nicodemus, a prominent leader among the Jews. 2 Late one night he visited Jesus and said, "Rabbi, we all know you're a teacher straight from God. No one could do all the God-pointing, God-revealing acts you do if God weren't in on it."
48. 3 Jesus said, "You're absolutely right. Take it from me: Unless a person is born from above, it's not possible to see what I'm pointing to--to God's kingdom." 4 "How can anyone," said Nicodemus, "be born who has already been born and grown up? You can't re-enter your mother's womb and be born again. What are you saying with this 'born-from-above' talk?"
49. 5 Jesus said, "You're not listening. Let me say it again. Unless a person submits to this original creation--the 'wind hovering over the water' creation, the invisible moving the visible, a baptism into a new life--it's not possible to enter God's kingdom.
50. 6 When you look at a baby, it's just that: a body you can look at and touch. But the person who takes shape within is formed by something you can't see and touch--the Spirit--and becomes a living spirit.
51. “ Your old birth came from mortal sperm;” A birth always implies a moving cause. In this “ your new birth comes from God's living Word.” See also: Act 10:36 , and James 1:18 MSG He brought us to life using the true Word, showing us off as the crown of all his creatures.
52. The gospel preached and lodged in the heart, "the power of God to salvation" Romans 1:16 MSG It's news I'm most proud to proclaim, this extraordinary Message of God's powerful plan to rescue everyone who trusts him, starting with Jews and then right on to everyone else! is the power that moves the soul to a new life.
53. God's word is living and eternal. It has life in it and hence communicates life. Hebrews 4:12 MSG God means what he says. What he says goes. His powerful Word is sharp as a surgeon's scalpel, cutting through everything, whether doubt or defense, laying us open to listen and obey.
54. “ 24 That’s why the prophet said, The old life is a grass life, Just think: a life conceived by God himself! its beauty as short-lived as wildflowers; Grass dries up, flowers droop, This is the Word that conceived the new life in you.” God's word lives forever, but the flesh is as evanescent as the grass.
55. The fleshly life, like the grass, is soon felled by death, but a birth from the living and eternal word is a birth to eternal life.
56. “ 25 God's Word goes on and on forever.” Like its author it is eternal and never loses its power. “ This is the Word that conceived the new life in you.” That word was the gospel, the very gospel preached to them by Paul and his fellow ministers.
