J.C.R. Licklider envisioned a globally interconnected network of computers in 1962. The first link of the ARPANET was established between UCLA and SRI in 1969. This began the creation of the Internet. In the 1970s, terms like "Internet" were coined and packet satellite networks connected the US and Europe. Major developments in the 1980s and 90s included the creation of email, the World Wide Web, and online services like Google, Wikipedia, YouTube and Skype that defined the modern Internet.
