This document discusses the history of computer-assisted language learning (CALL) and how it has evolved from behavioristic CALL to include more communicative and integrative approaches using multimedia and the internet. It outlines how computers can serve as vehicles for delivering instructional materials, as tutors for language drills and practice, and as tools to stimulate discussion, interaction, writing and research. The conclusion is that computers provide various uses for language teaching.
