Universal education is an important thing. However the current education system is not equipped or utilizing resources to its full potential and is often failing students where the solution is easily implemented.
My shared goal is focused on the importance of education. Many communities and countries lack education due to poverty. I think that everyone deserves the chance to a great education regardless of the many barriers they have.

Unlocking potential: Closing the Education Achievement Gap in Northern IrelandCorrine Heaney
Education is the primary vehicle by which economically and socially disadvantaged children can change their lives, lift themselves out of poverty and obtain the means to participate fully in their communities. The children starting primary school in 2016 will have grown up in an economic recession and amid greatly reduced public expenditure within N. Ireland. We cannot let the ‘age of austerity’ limit this generation’s educational achievement or their aspirations.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.
2. Why does it resonate for you?
The UN Millennial Development Goals were
developed by the collaboration of nations across
the world to better ourselves as a race and global
community. Within any prosperous nation is a
keen focus on education and without a proper
education, progress is slowed down from a
national to an individual level. In order to
collaborate, communicate and develop as a
species we must implant the root of all progress,
knowledge.
3. How can your interest be applied locally?
Locally - Tacoma, WA
The goal of Universal Primary Education is very much achieved within Washington state and
the USA as a whole, however, the situation can be improved for children by bettering the
economic hardships in which many of these children are confronted with. Funding can be
raised to help less fortunate families with lunch and extracurricular activities such as sports
or even school supplies for students in class.
Across the globe, children are faced with detrimental factors such as violence, child labour,
child marriage, poverty and so forth. Although there is most certainly an upperhand in terms
of education in Washington state compared to impoverished third world countries, let us not
forget that education is a vital necessity that can always be improved upon.
4. Where can you make the greatest contribution?
The greatest contribution can always be made at a local
level by personal efforts to volunteer in an academic
environment with the intent of helping children to learn and
grow. Although financial donations are of useful help,
nothing is quite as impactful as a hands on initiative.
Needless to say, the greatest contribution in the life of every
student is that of the teachers. With that being said, the
world of children's education is broad and every adult’s
unique expertise can be of use whether it's a talent such as
music, sports, etc. or participating in after school activities.
5. Is there a feature of social media that can be uniquely applied to this goal?
Perhaps the greatest quality that social media provides
to the users, connectivity, is the most applicable to this
goal. The timeless proverb, “It takes a village to raise a
child” is certainly evident in Primary education. A
community must be bound together by teachers and
parents in order to efficiently develop the education of
students within that community. Through social media,
teachers are able to connect with parents and parents
with tutors all for the benefit of the student.
