Personally:
People often have mixed feelings about school,
but I enjoyed school and have good memories
from it
I wish everyone could have the same positive
experience that I had growing
Globally:
I know it’s cliché, but knowledge is power
The more people that can be educated, the more
people that can be empowered
Society as a whole would benefit from that

3. How Can Your Interest Be Applied
Locally?
Ways to help:
• There are actions that people can take
to support schools. The most common
and easiest one being donations
• Books, supplies, money in general, can
all be donated in support of schools
Besides Donating
• Supporting the community is probably
another big part of it
• Participating in school sponsored
fundraisers, going to events, and more
things like that
• Also just offering time to volunteer

4. Where Can You Personally Make The
Greatest Contribution?
Volunteering
• Both of my parents are teachers so fortunately I’m presented with opportunities to help
and volunteer
• Can range from helping students in the classroom to supporting an event
• I’ve also tutored for some students outside of school
Donating
• Every time we do spring cleaning or cleaning in general, we look for stuff to donate, mainly
old children’s books
• Barnes & Noble usually has some ways of getting books to local schools through
donations, particularly around Christmas time but throughout the year as well

Can Be Applied To This Goal?
Instructional Videos:
◦ Youtube in particular is always a great source for learning and understanding new concepts
◦ It is like having your teacher at home with you while you do your homework and study
◦ Other social media sites can provide tips for education, but some focus on older students as they have
access to more social media

◦ Social media can be used as a way to advocate for these organizations that are trying to improve
primary education globablly
◦ Helps give people an idea of how to be supportive and how to help reach this common goal

Raising Awareness:
I feel like what social media is best at is raising
awareness to certain issues
It can be just a general post, there isn’t a
particular feature or anything. Some social
media is better at building momentum than
others
Using hashtags and timing are also valuable for
creating awareness
Building Support:
Again, with informing the public, often people
want to help but aren’t sure what to do or how
to do it or how they know they are helping the
right people
Social media can help with that and provide as
advertisement for these causes to generate
more help and support
