PARTHA KAMAL | HEAD OF CLOUD MIGRATIONS
Making the move to cloud
An update on cloud migrations and Atlassian’s cloud roadmap
• Hi everyone, I’m Partha Kamal and I’m the Head of Cloud Migrations at Atlassian.
• In this role, I’m responsible for the experience of customers migrating from Atlassian Server or Data Center to Atlassian Cloud.
Agenda
“How will Atlassian help
me migrate to cloud?”
“Does Atlassian’s cloud
have what I need?”
• Today, my goals are pretty simple. I’d like to address two questions that I suspect many of you may have:
• First, does Atlassian’s cloud have what I need?
• Second, how can Atlassian help me migrate to cloud?
“Does Atlassian’s cloud
have what I need?”
Let’s start with our cloud platform and products.

• Over the next 3 years, we plan on meeting the compliance requirements for some of the strictest regulated industries out there - Finance, Government, and Healthcare
• Many of you told us how important HIPAA is and that you cannot wait until 2023 for it, so we accelerated delivery of that and plan to ascertain HIPAA compliance early in 2022, which will allow us to start
signing BAA.
• We will follow with Jira and Confluence Cloud compliance with US, EU, and AUS financial standards later in 2022.
• For government, in 2022 we plan to have NIST 800-53 which is a Common Control Framework used as a basis for a lot of regulations that deal with highly sensitive data. Building upon this, for jira and
confluence we will have Fedramp tailored in 2022 and Fedramp moderate in 2023.
• While these were the biggest requests we heard from our customers, we know some of you might have compliance requirements that isn’t listed here. We certainly want to hear about these.
Cloud apps & customization
Next lets talk about apps and extensibility. This has been, and continues to be a huge area of focus for us, i.e. supporting our marketplace vendors as well as our huge developer community out there who want
to extend our cloud products.
Two common Questions we get are:
1. Are my server or Data Center apps available in cloud?
2. Does cloud allow me to make the customizations that I need?
450+
new cloud apps added in 2020
• When it comes to app availability, cloud apps are rapidly being added to our Marketplace.
• In 2020, we added over 450 new cloud apps to the Atlassian Marketplace.

77
of the top 100 server apps are available in cloud
• And looking at the top server apps, 77 of the top 100 are available today in cloud (either as apps, or directly as part of our cloud product functionality).
• This is an ongoing effort and we were working closely with these top vendors shipping dozens of new Jira and Confluence APIs and extension points to help them bring any remaining apps to cloud and close
any feature gaps they may have.

Migratability
For the apps we do want to
migrate, what’s the migration
path?
• Also as part of migration, we’ve made it easy to assess your apps, with our Jira and Confluence migration assistants. These assistants are free apps available through marketplace, or may already be pre-
installed on your instance.
• They’re useful not just for the migration of data, but for migration assessment as well.
• For apps specifically, they offer insights into: <click>

• As I mentioned before, we want to hear from our customers about their requirements for cloud, especially if it isn’t yet covered in our public roadmaps.
• So we’ve launched 4 of these feedback groups: on Extensibility, Security and compliance, reliability and performance, and change management.
• In this groups, you’ll be connected directly with the Atlassian Cloud Product Managers working on the requirements for these focus areas
• Our Product Managers will listen in order to understand your needs, share progress to date, and solicit feedback on future plans.
• We’ll be sharing this deck and can also share the links to join these groups

Launch
The journey to Atlassian cloud
• We think about cloud migrations in these 6 phases: assess, plan, prep, test, migrate and launch.
• We found this to be the best practice process our customers should follow to ensure a smooth migration.
• The actual migration is the in the second last phase and typically only takes one day or one weekend.
• However, the key to a successful migration is investing a ton of time in the planning and assessment phases. I can’t stress this enough. Planning is key to the success and can take
several months.
• The upfront work you do in partnership with Atlassian (and a Solution Partner if you’re using one) will result in a faster migration, with fewer issues.
LIFT AND SHIFT
LIFT/OPTIMIZE
AND SHIFT
PHASED
Migrations Strategies
• In the planning stage, you will need to decide your migration strategy. These are three of the most common strategies,
• First, lift and shift - meaning to move everything from your on-prem instance to cloud as is
• This may decrease the amount of time you need to invest, but may also result in moving unneeded data, apps and users to cloud, which could increase costs
• What’s more common, and what we typically recommend - is an optimize and shift approach.
• Think about when your moving houses. You rarely want to bring everything, you know you should get rid of some of that stuff you have accumulated over time.
• So similarly, this is an opportunity to clean up your on-prem instance before migrating and move only the most important projects, spaces and apps over to cloud.
• This requires some additional upfront work, but we’ve heard time and time again what a valuable exercise this is for customers.
• Finally, another way to approach migration is through a phased approach. If there are certain teams that can’t move for a while, or you need to consolidate multiple instances we
recommend a phased migration.
• This strategy allows for phased user onboarding but also requires careful planning and obviously will take longer

Cloud loyalty discount
• To ease the transition to cloud, we offer existing server & Data Center customers multi-year discounts on their subscription prices if they are migrating more than1,000
users.

• Here’s an example of how the cloud loyalty discount works:

• Let’s say you purchased a Jira Software Server license (2000 user tier) and Confluence Server license (500 user tier) on January 1, 2010 PT. It is now 2020, and you
would like to migrate from server to cloud. You decide to purchase an annual Jira Software Cloud subscription (2000 user tier) and an annual Confluence Cloud
subscription (500 user tier) on June 30, 2021 PT.

• Since you purchased your cloud subscriptions before July 1, 2021 PT, you are eligible for a 55% discount on Jira Software Cloud and no discount on Confluence Cloud
since it is less than 1,001 users.

• If you renew on June 30, 2022 PT for a second year, you would be eligible for a 40% discount on Jira Software Cloud and no discount on Confluence Cloud since it is
less than 1,001 users.

• If you renew on June 30, 2023 PT for a third year, you would be eligible for a 20% discount on Jira Software Cloud and no discount on Confluence Cloud since it is less
than 1,001 users.

*If applicable for your customer, you can share the following*:
- Migrating customers with 501-1200 users who buy Cloud before July 1, 2021, will pay less for Atlassian products when they buy the 1200 user tier with the 55% loyalty
discount.
- Migrating customers who buy Cloud or DC for 2 years upfront before July 1, 2021, will pay less for Atlassian products because the loyalty discount applicable before
July 1, 2021 will apply on both years purchased.

Cloud Migration Trial
Allows you to explore cloud, compare
editions, and test without double paying
Free cloud trial for the remaining
duration of your current license
Active server and Data Center customers
WHAT IS IT?
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
HOW DOES IT HELP?
• We also offer all active server and Data Center customers a free cloud migration trial

• It lasts for the remaining duration of your existing on-prem license and gives you the ability to explore cloud and compare plans. For example if you have 6 months left
of server maintenance you will have a 6 month trial of cloud.

• Many customers also use the free cloud migration trial to test and run the production migration.
Dual licensing
Prevents double paying and gives you time
to complete the production migration
1 year of free server or Data Center
renewal while you migrate to cloud
Active server and Data Center customers
who purchase 1,001+ cloud paid seats
WHAT IS IT?
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
HOW DOES IT HELP?
• We also know that cloud migrations for some enterprise customers can take multiple months and the prospect of paying for both server/DC and Cloud during the
migration period could put a strain on your IT budgets

• Therefore, we offer existing server or Data Center customers who purchase greater than1,000 cloud paid seats a free renewal for 1-year on their current deployment

• This gives you 1 year (without double paying) to complete the migration

Cloud Platform Roadmap atlassian.com/roadmap/cloud •We’re also making our progress public and have published a roadmap on atlassian.com that highlights what we’ve shipped and what we’re investing in across our cloud products, cloud platform and migration tooling. • As you assess our cloud I’d strongly encourage you to refer to this roadmap and see what we got planned.
  • 24.
Data residency Compliance Cloud apps& customization Scale • While we have made a lot of our progress against our cloud roadmap, we know there are a few big areas that have come up frequently since our announcement in October, so I want to give you an update on each of them.
  • 25.
Data residency • First,we know many of our you work in regulated industries with specific data residency requirements.
  • 26.
US EU NOW AVAILABLE INOUR CLOUD ENTERPRISE PLAN • Today, we offer data residency as part our our cloud enterprise plan, with support for the EU and US regions. <CLICK > • This gives you the power to choose where your Jira or confluence data is hosted
  • 27.
Additional regions Australia, Canada,UK and Japan Data residency in US & EU Available in our Enterprise plan TODAY FUTURE Enhanced capabilities Data residency for apps Lower user tiers Evaluating • But we’ve heard many of you need more and of course, we’re taking your specific requests very seriously. • let me give you a preview of some of the things we’re planning on delivering in the future <CLICK> • First, we plan to support additional regions, including Australia, Canada (which we are aiming for delivering by the end 2021), the UK, and Japan • <CLICK>Secondly, we’re enhancing our data residency capabilities ( like working with our marketplace vendors to add data residency for your apps too) • <CLICK> And finally, as a direct result of your feedback, we’re committed to providing Data Residency options for customers of ALL sizes • If data residency for lower tiers is something you’re interested in, just hold tight, we will have more details with pricing and availability in the next few weeks
  • 28.
Scale • Next, Someof you have huge number of users on server products today.
  • 29.
Expanding cloud user limits Comingin 2022 35,000 user early access program Shipped 10,000 user support Shipped 20,000 user early access program Coming in 2021 20,000 user general availability • This is an area that we are making rapid progress on. • We launched support for up to 10,000 users in 2020 • and an early access program for 20,000 users is available today and we already have a number of customers participating in the program. • Next we have our sights on 35,000 users • The basic takeaway here, is we are committed to supporting our largest customers on cloud
  • 30.
Compliance • Compliance. Thisis an area we have and continue to invest heavily in as we understand its an area that is non-negotiable for some of your organisations.
  • 31.
Today SOC 2 SOC3 PCI DSS ISO 27001 ISO 27018 VPAT CSA • Our products and environment regularly undergo third-party verification of their security, privacy, and compliance controls to ensure we satisfy global standards. • Here are some examples of certifications that we currently maintain. ISO27001 is a highly recognized international security certificate, whereas SOC2 goes deeper into details about our technology and processes. This portfolio of certificates do meet the needs of the majority of our customers. • For those of you who work in highly regulated industries or have very specialized requirements - we’re working on your requirements too.
  • 32.
L E Our 3-year complianceroadmap 2022 2023 Finance US FINRA EU BaFin AUS APRA All compliance certifications apply to Jira and Confluence and unless noted otherwise. Today Healthcare HIPAA Government FedRAMP Tailored ATO (Trello) NIST 800.53 FedRAMP Tailored FedRAMP Moderate • Over the next 3 years, we plan on meeting the compliance requirements for some of the strictest regulated industries out there - Finance, Government, and Healthcare • Many of you told us how important HIPAA is and that you cannot wait until 2023 for it, so we accelerated delivery of that and plan to ascertain HIPAA compliance early in 2022, which will allow us to start signing BAA. • We will follow with Jira and Confluence Cloud compliance with US, EU, and AUS financial standards later in 2022. • For government, in 2022 we plan to have NIST 800-53 which is a Common Control Framework used as a basis for a lot of regulations that deal with highly sensitive data. Building upon this, for jira and confluence we will have Fedramp tailored in 2022 and Fedramp moderate in 2023. • While these were the biggest requests we heard from our customers, we know some of you might have compliance requirements that isn’t listed here. We certainly want to hear about these.
  • 33.
Cloud apps &customization Next lets talk about apps and extensibility. This has been, and continues to be a huge area of focus for us, i.e. supporting our marketplace vendors as well as our huge developer community out there who want to extend our cloud products. Two common Questions we get are: 1. Are my server or Data Center apps available in cloud? 2. Does cloud allow me to make the customizations that I need?
  • 34.
450+ new cloud appsadded in 2020 • When it comes to app availability, cloud apps are rapidly being added to our Marketplace. • In 2020, we added over 450 new cloud apps to the Atlassian Marketplace. Source: https://hello.atlassian.net/browse/PUB-220
  • 35.
77 of the top100 server apps are available in cloud • And looking at the top server apps, 77 of the top 100 are available today in cloud (either as apps, or directly as part of our cloud product functionality). • This is an ongoing effort and we were working closely with these top vendors shipping dozens of new Jira and Confluence APIs and extension points to help them bring any remaining apps to cloud and close any feature gaps they may have. CLOUD MIGRATION ASSISTANTS Availability Isit available in cloud? Is it the same as in server or Data Center? Usage How is this app used today? Is it critical to keep, or can we move without it? Migratability For the apps we do want to migrate, what’s the migration path? • Also as part of migration, we’ve made it easy to assess your apps, with our Jira and Confluence migration assistants. These assistants are free apps available through marketplace, or may already be pre- installed on your instance. • They’re useful not just for the migration of data, but for migration assessment as well. • For apps specifically, they offer insights into: <click> • Availability <click> • Usage <click> • Migratability
  • 38.
New automated migration paths fortop apps COMING SOON And on the topic of migratability, my team is closely with our Marketplace partners to build automated migration paths within the cloud migration assistants - meaning, you’ll be able to migrate all of your data types (users, product data, and app data) in one tool.
  • 39.
JOIN AN EARLYACCESS PROGRAM Atlassian Data Lake for Jira Software Automated app migration • In fact, we just launched our customer early access program for this feature • If you’d like to try out this capability while it’s in beta and give feedback on it, you can find information on the program in the Cloud Migration interest group on Community. I know my team would deeply appreciate any feedback. • We’ve also launched an early access program for Atlassian Data Lakes for Jira Software, a feature that will improve data access for customers who have more advanced reporting needs. • If these features interest you, definitely check out these opportunities to get early access to them
  • 40.
Extensibility Security & Compliance JOINA COMMUNITY FEEDBACK GROUP Reliability & Performance Change Management • As I mentioned before, we want to hear from our customers about their requirements for cloud, especially if it isn’t yet covered in our public roadmaps. • So we’ve launched 4 of these feedback groups: on Extensibility, Security and compliance, reliability and performance, and change management. • In this groups, you’ll be connected directly with the Atlassian Cloud Product Managers working on the requirements for these focus areas • Our Product Managers will listen in order to understand your needs, share progress to date, and solicit feedback on future plans. • We’ll be sharing this deck and can also share the links to join these groups Group Links: • Extensibility - https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Cloud-Extensibility/gh-p/cloud-extensibility • Security & Compliance - https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Cloud-Security-Compliance/gh-p/cloud-security-compliance • Reliability & Performance - https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Cloud-Reliability-Performance/gh-p/cloud-reliability-performance • Change Management - https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Cloud-Change-Management/gh-p/cloud-change-mgmt

“How will Atlassianhelp me migrate to cloud?” Next, I want to walk you through a few ways that Atlassian can help customers who are planning to migrate to cloud.
  • 42.
What is ourcurrent landscape and requirements for cloud? Assess What's our strategy? What steps will we take to get there? Plan Let's get our data and environments ready to migrate. Prep What steps do we need to take? How long does it take? Test Show time! Please keep your arms and legs inside the ride. Migrate We’re here! Let's unlock new cloud value and make sure our users are ready to rock! Launch The journey to Atlassian cloud • We think about cloud migrations in these 6 phases: assess, plan, prep, test, migrate and launch. • We found this to be the best practice process our customers should follow to ensure a smooth migration. • The actual migration is the in the second last phase and typically only takes one day or one weekend. • However, the key to a successful migration is investing a ton of time in the planning and assessment phases. I can’t stress this enough. Planning is key to the success and can take several months. • The upfront work you do in partnership with Atlassian (and a Solution Partner if you’re using one) will result in a faster migration, with fewer issues.
  • 43.
LIFT AND SHIFT LIFT/OPTIMIZE ANDSHIFT PHASED Migrations Strategies • In the planning stage, you will need to decide your migration strategy. These are three of the most common strategies, • First, lift and shift - meaning to move everything from your on-prem instance to cloud as is • This may decrease the amount of time you need to invest, but may also result in moving unneeded data, apps and users to cloud, which could increase costs • What’s more common, and what we typically recommend - is an optimize and shift approach. If there are certain teams that can’t move for a while, or you need to consolidate multiple instances we recommend a phased migration. • This strategy allows for phased user onboarding but also requires careful planning and obviously will take longer

    Cloud loyalty discount FY2021 + FY 2022 + FY 2023 + • First, cloud loyalty discounts. •
  • 48.
FY 2021 + FY 2022 + FY2023 + *Annual cloud subscription discount from then-current published Atlassian list price for Confluence, Jira Software, Jira Core and Jira Service Desk if you migrate with 1,001+ licensed users 55% If purchased before July 2021 ANNUAL CLOUD SUBSCRIPTION DISCOUNT* + 40% OFF FISCAL YEAR 2022 + 20% OFF FISCAL YEAR 2023 40% If purchased before July 2022 ANNUAL CLOUD SUBSCRIPTION DISCOUNT* + 20% OFF FISCAL YEAR 2023 20% If purchased before July 2023 ANNUAL CLOUD SUBSCRIPTION DISCOUNT* Cloud loyalty discount • To ease the transition to cloud, we offer existing server & Data Center customers multi-year discounts on their subscription prices if they are migrating more than1,000 users. • Here’s an example of how the cloud loyalty discount works: • Let’s say you purchased a Jira Software Server license (2000 user tier) and Confluence Server license (500 user tier) on January 1, 2010 PT. It is now 2020, and you would like to migrate from server to cloud. You decide to purchase an annual Jira Software Cloud subscription (2000 user tier) and an annual Confluence Cloud subscription (500 user tier) on June 30, 2021 PT. • Since you purchased your cloud subscriptions before July 1, 2021 PT, you are eligible for a 55% discount on Jira Software Cloud and no discount on Confluence Cloud since it is less than 1,001 users. • If you renew on June 30, 2022 PT for a second year, you would be eligible for a 40% discount on Jira Software Cloud and no discount on Confluence Cloud since it is less than 1,001 users. • If you renew on June 30, 2023 PT for a third year, you would be eligible for a 20% discount on Jira Software Cloud and no discount on Confluence Cloud since it is less than 1,001 users. *If applicable for your customer, you can share the following*: - Migrating customers with 501-1200 users who buy Cloud before July 1, 2021, will pay less for Atlassian products when they buy the 1200 user tier with the 55% loyalty
  • 49.

They will get a flat discount off list price for 3 years (30% off DC or 40% off cloud).
