Lean Portfolio Management (LPM) is touted as a world-changing paradigm. A shift that promises to boost productivity, time to market, quality, customer satisfaction, revenue, and a host of other vital business metrics. It promises to transform the organization to a leaner, more agile version of itself, primed to innovate effortlessly and outperform its competition at every turn.
Most organizations who have tried to establish LPM find the reality to be more nuanced than that. These companies end up implementing “Imitation LPM” where actions and some process changes may be in place and functioning, but the real promise of LPM- the increased agility and reduced waste- is not occurring.
Real LPM assumes that work is funded by value streams with teams organized around delivery of products and services that are valuable to customers. This is, perhaps, the hardest part of implementing LPM.

To support the company's growth (+100% headcount in 1 year) and support the remote work, we have scaled our processes and created guidelines and tools to help teams be more efficient and deliver higher quality features. Each time a team develops a feature, it usually requires similar steps: defining the goal, scoping, get input from sales and marketing, specing, desining, technical and design reviews, estimation, planning, release dates communication, developing, testing, documentation, feature flipping, monitoring, retrospective, user's feedback review and so on.
The mindset: increasing autonomy by clarifying guidelines, and improving quality and efficiency by sharing knowledge and tools from one team to another. Creating a playbook, so all teams have the same processes, but can adapt to their needs.
We will discuss the challenges Dashlane faced while growing its team, what we tried and what are the guidelines we created for the different steps of the Development Cycle, and how it positively impacted our development predictability, quality, and speed.

I plan to share our redeployment story, the benefits of Hub, and of course share my technical tips and tricks! I’ve done some interesting work with extensions and the home grown error facility I built that either fixes errors or reports them from the errors retrieved using the Hub API. I’m also looking at performing automated testing of our integrations against new versions of Hub so that I can validate and adopt new Hub features much faster.

Lean Portfolio Management (LPM) is touted as a world-changing paradigm. A shift that promises to boost productivity, time to market, quality, customer satisfaction, revenue, and a host of other vital business metrics. It promises to transform the organization to a leaner, more agile version of itself, primed to innovate effortlessly and outperform its competition at every turn.
Most organizations who have tried to establish LPM find the reality to be more nuanced than that. These companies end up implementing “Imitation LPM” where actions and some process changes may be in place and functioning, but the real promise of LPM- the increased agility and reduced waste- is not occurring.
Real LPM assumes that work is funded by value streams with teams organized around delivery of products and services that are valuable to customers. This is, perhaps, the hardest part of implementing LPM.

To support the company's growth (+100% headcount in 1 year) and support the remote work, we have scaled our processes and created guidelines and tools to help teams be more efficient and deliver higher quality features. Each time a team develops a feature, it usually requires similar steps: defining the goal, scoping, get input from sales and marketing, specing, desining, technical and design reviews, estimation, planning, release dates communication, developing, testing, documentation, feature flipping, monitoring, retrospective, user's feedback review and so on.
The mindset: increasing autonomy by clarifying guidelines, and improving quality and efficiency by sharing knowledge and tools from one team to another. Creating a playbook, so all teams have the same processes, but can adapt to their needs.
We will discuss the challenges Dashlane faced while growing its team, what we tried and what are the guidelines we created for the different steps of the Development Cycle, and how it positively impacted our development predictability, quality, and speed.

Mutation Testing for Task-Oriented Chatbots
Conversational agents, or chatbots, are increasingly used to access all sorts of services using natural language. While open-domain chatbots - like ChatGPT - can converse on any topic, task-oriented chatbots - the focus of this paper - are designed for specific tasks, like booking a flight, obtaining customer support, or setting an appointment. Like any other software, task-oriented chatbots need to be properly tested, usually by defining and executing test scenarios (i.e., sequences of user-chatbot interactions). However, there is currently a lack of methods to quantify the completeness and strength of such test scenarios, which can lead to low-quality tests, and hence to buggy chatbots.
To fill this gap, we propose adapting mutation testing (MuT) for task-oriented chatbots. To this end, we introduce a set of mutation operators that emulate faults in chatbot designs, an architecture that enables MuT on chatbots built using heterogeneous technologies, and a practical realisation as an Eclipse plugin. Moreover, we evaluate the applicability, effectiveness and efficiency of our approach on open-source chatbots, with promising results.
