According to the CDC, unvaccinated U.S. residents traveling abroad are at risk of acquiring measles overseas, as 44 cases in 2019 were directly imported and 34 were in unvaccinated U.S. residents. Measles remains common in some parts of the world. During outbreaks, travel restrictions may require proof of vaccination or quarantine orders to prevent spread. The MMR vaccine is highly effective at preventing measles, but it is only available for free through federally-qualified health centers. A policy change could make vaccines freely available in all medical offices during outbreaks.

National Immunization Program (NIP)
The Malaysian National Immunization Program (NIP) was introduced in the early 1950s and it has been given free to the children for their protection against major childhood diseases. The immunization program offers protection against major childhood diseases that can be prevented with vaccines including diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, Haemophilus influenzae type b, hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella, tuberculosis, polio and some diseases caused by the human papillomavirus. This program is available at all government clinics across the country.
Parents are responsible for ensuring that their children are protected from dangerous infectious diseases that can be prevented with a vaccine. Below is the national immunization schedule to ensure your child receives the vaccination at the right time (Malaysian MOH, 2017).
Vaccine Safety Surveillance
National Centre of Adverse Drug Reactions (ADR) Monitoring, National Pharmaceutical Control Bureau (NPCB) is responsible to monitor the safety of medicines and vaccines that are registered in Malaysia. NPCB is responsible for collecting all reporting adverse events related pharmaceutical products including vaccines. All reported adverse events will be documented and serious cases following vaccination will be investigated promptly to identify the cause of the adverse events. NPCB will make further investigation in terms of product quality and regulatory action will be taken based on the results of the investigation. Types of regulatory action that can be taken are the suspension of the product registration, product recall or cancellation of the product registration.
ADR reporting system has been introduced in Malaysia to enable health providers to participate in monitoring the safety of medicines and vaccines by reporting the adverse events. Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) has organized trainings to the health professionals on the importance of reporting of Adverse events following immunization (AEFIs) as described in the Guidelines for the Pharmacovigilance of Vaccines. Ongoing training will be conducted more actively to increase awareness among health care providers to report AEFI and importance of disseminating the information to parents/guardians.
Currently, the AEFI reporting system has been extended to the public whereby the parents/guardians of children who experience any adverse events can report to us by themselves (Malaysian MOH, 2017).

Childhood immunization: What can British Columbia do to improve immunizations...Richard Horne
This briefing provides an assessment of various policy options that could be used to improve childhood immunization rates in British Columbia based on a review of immunization coverage strategies utilized in other jurisdictions. The implications of implementing a mandatory immunization law for all school-aged children is analyzed and discussed, among other policy options aimed at increasing childhood immunization rates as part of a strategy to combat preventable diseases. The Province’s existing policy in this area, summarized in the Strategic Framework for Immunization in B.C., has failed to ensure immunization coverage targets for major vaccine-preventable diseases are met.
Immunization is a core component of the human right to
health and an individual, community and government responsibility. Protected from the threat of vaccine –preventable diseases, immunized children have the opportunity to thrive and a better chance of realizing their full potential.

Nonverbal, Interpersonal, and Textual Communication Worksheet
Nonverbal communication plays an essential role in any conversation. Individuals who are aware of nonverbal actions during conversations can more effectively interpret what is being communicated.
Part
1
Look at the interactions between the individuals in the following photos and interpret what you think is being expressed through nonverbal communication. Describe the nonverbal cues that lead you to these interpretations.
What is being said nonverbally by each person?
If he is waiting for a job interview, what impression do you think he is going to make?
What is the interviewer (the woman on the right) communicating with her nonverbal positioning?
Part 2
Compose responses to each of the following questions:
1.
Which of the images demonstrates an interpersonal communication exchange? How can you tell?
2.
What types of interpersonal communication are being displayed in the images? Why?
Part 3
Textual communication, or content that is read or viewed, also plays a role in communicating with others. Textual information may gain deeper meaning when the text is spoken or viewed in a specific context versus when it is read.
Read the following quotes and write a 50- to 100-word interpretation of what you think is being expressed. Support your responses. If you wish to include references, format your responses consistent with APA guidelines.

“The world is very different now. For man holds in his mortal hands the power to abolish all forms of human poverty and all forms of human life. And yet the same revolutionary beliefs for which our forebears fought are still at issue around the globe—the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state, but from the hand of God.
We dare not forget today that we are the heirs of that first revolution. Let the word go forth from this time and place, to friend and foe alike, that the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans—born in this century, tempered by war, disciplined by a hard and bitter peace, proud of our ancient heritage, and unwilling to witness or permit the slow undoing of those human rights to which this nation has always been committed, and to which we are committed today at home and around the world.
Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, to assure the survival and the success of liberty.”

Nonvalue- Added Costs in a Doctor's Office
(Exercise 12-12) Dr. Steve Rosenthal has his own medical practice. He specializes in the treatment of diabetics. His staff consists of a receptionist, two nurses, a lab technician, and a dietitian. As patients enter the outer office, they check in with the receptionist. The patient then waits until called by a nurse. When called, the patient moves from the waiting room to the inner offices. The patient must weigh in and is then assigned a room. The nurse assigning the patient to a room gathers all the personal data for updating the medical records, such as insulin dosage, medication, illnesses since last visit, etc. The nurse also takes an initial blood sample for blood sugar testing and performs a blood pressure test. The patient then waits until the doctor comes in. After the doctor's conference, the nurse returns to take more blood samples, depending on what is ordered by the doctor. The patient then waits until the dietitian comes to review eating habits and talk about how to improve meal planning and weight control. The patient returns to the receptionist to pay for the office visit and to schedule the next visit.
In your response include the following:
1. Identify the activities in the doctor's office that fall into process time, inspection time, move time, wait time, and storage time.
2. List the activities in the doctor's office that are candidates for nonvalue-added activities. Explain why you classify them as nonvalue-added activities.
Guided Response:
Review several of your classmates’ postings and identify some common nonvalue-added activities. Respond to at least two of your classmates and provide recommendations that extend their thinking and inspire reconsideration of the activities listed in the posting

Students are required to submit a response to the Mid-Term Exam.
Chase-Dunn writes,
"The modern world-system can be understood structurally as a stratification system composed of economically, culturally, and militarily dominant core societies (themselves in competition with one another), and dependent peripheral and semi-peripheral regions. Some dependent regions have been successful in improving their positions in the larger core/ periphery hierarchy, while most have simply maintained their peripheral and semi peripheral positions. This structural perspective on world history allows us to analyze the cyclical features of social change and the long-term patterns of development in historical and comparative perspective."
In which ways, if any, has the United States government worked to retain its "core" status under the world system theory of global capitalism? Apply Chase-Dunn's World System theory interpretation to this question. This does not mean that you accept the theory, but that you learn how to apply it to generate explanation.
The Mid-Term exam features a question about the readings and students are required to submit a two (2) page, double-spaced and typed response with source documentation/citations.

Digital media has changed the ways ideas, information, and arguments in society are communicated both locally and globally. Individuals and organizations frequently use digital media as a means to influence individuals and organizations.
Students are required to identify news stories which demonstrate how digital media has been used to influence or has changed core business processes within organizations or for individuals. You will then create a presentation (using an application like PowerPoint) which interprets and analyzes how the messages within the digital media were used to guide decision-making.
Formatting Requirements
Project must follow APA style
Footers including slide numbers, student name, and project name
File name first initial, last name and project (ex. BWright_casestudy)
Minimum of 15 slides, maximum 20 slides (excluding title slide and bibliographical slide)
Use of tables, graphs, images, etc. of appropriate size that are relevant to the information being conveyed is highly encouraged.
Title slide to include:
Your name
Instructor name
Course name and number

Mr. and Mrs. Ybarra, a retired couple in their late 70s, come in to meet with you. They are very friendly and living a comfortable retirement due, in large part, to the overall size of their estate (nearly $4 million dollars spread over multiple accounts) and their conservative asset allocation.
As you bring up the issue of estate planning, they thank you for your concern, but explain that it is already taken care of. They go on to explain that their attorney has prepared wills for both of them and all of their accounts are titled Jointly with Rights of Survivorship.
They are surprised, and a little confused, when you mention that their heirs might end up receiving only a fraction of those assets after the two of them pass away.
Include the following in your explanation to Mr. and Mrs. Ybarra:
The transfer-tax system
What is considered part of the estate
How much is excluded from taxation based on current legislation

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

1. According to CDC, Unvaccinated U.S. residents traveling
internationally are at risk for acquiring measles, there are 44
Measles cases directly imported from other countries and 34
were the U.S. U.S. residents who are unvaccinated if traveling
internationally are at risk of acquiring measles. (CDC.2019).
Although Measles was declared and no longer endemic in the
United States since 2020, Measles is still a very common
disease in some regions of the world such as in Africa, Asia,
Europe, and the Pacific. During the Measles outbreak, if any
U.S.resident wants to travel over the countries where there is a
measle outbreak or high risk of measles exposure, a new policy
should travel restriction requiring that U.S. resident or foreigner
display their vaccination record to prove if they are already
vaccinated before they are departure in some regions where
there is a measles outbreak. If they are unvaccinated or they are
unable to show any approved evidence for vaccination, under
section 361 of the Public Health Service Act, the U.S. Secretary
of Health and Human Services is authorized to take measures to
prevent the entry and spread of communicable diseases from
foreign countries into the United States and between
states(PHAS), A isolation or quarantine order may issue in
order to prevent the spread of measles outbreak in the United
States.
Measles can be prevented with measles-containing vaccine,
MMR vaccine is approximately 93%-97% effective at
preventing measles. (CDC 2019) In order to provide more
protection on Children, there is a policy called The Vaccine for
Children (VFC), also known as section 1928 of the Social
Security Act, the Vaccines for Children program is an
entitlement program (a right granted by law) for eligible
children, age 18 and younger. This plan was created by the 1993
Comprehensive Budget Reconciliation Act and was first
implemented in 1994. (CDC 2019) The VFC plan aims to
2. ensure that qualified children will not contract vaccine-
preventable diseases because they cannot pay for vaccines and
vaccines. These vaccines protect babies, young children, and
adolescents from 16 diseases included Measles(CDC 2019).
With the support of the VFC program, a large number of
illnesses, hospitalizations, and deaths prevented by childhood
immunization. Because of sustained high coverage, many
vaccine-preventable diseases are now uncommon in the United
States. Measles was declared no longer endemic in the United
States in 2000. (CDC 2018)
A similar policy exists in Frenc In french, From 2018, the
French Ministry of Health will expand the three types of
vaccines (diphtheria, tetanus, and polio) required for children
under the age of two to eleven, with additional additions
including hepatitis B, pertussis and measles. The cost of
vaccination is borne by social security, and those who have not
been vaccinated are not allowed to attend school. (MAOFINF,
2019)
However, Vaccines at no cost for eligible children is only
available through VFC-enrolled doctors(CDC,2016), if your
doctor is not a “VFC participating provider,” parent need to
take their child to their local health department or to their
community or rural health center clinic for these free or low -
cost vaccines. A new policy we make is to provide vaccines free
of charge in all medical offices. diting the current VFC policy
to instate a temporary mandate where all medical offices must
offer the MMR vaccinations at no cost, no questions asked, and
regardless of circumstance during the measles outbreak.
