Hexaware assessed the current data landscape for the US arm of one of the largest stock exchanges in Europe and came up with an option to build a highly scalable and agile data warehouse on cloud leveraging their Cloud EDMA platform.
The cloud presents organizations with a new way to deliver IT services. It can significantly lower costs, improve efficiency, and, if implemented well, provide significant competitive advantage. But cloud computing takes a number of forms: private, public hybrid and combinations of these. These options can be confusing in terms of their technical implementations as well as their economics.
This session describes the various types of clouds and major trends in the cloud market. It also looks at the economic issues to consider when making the decision on whether to go with cloud, and if you choose cloud, which path to take.

Application Managed Services is becoming a complex umbrella of services – everything related to your application IT landscape is included in a vendor’s service catalog. Yet, we have seen that most clients are dissatisfied with their vendors as they are failing to deliver upon the promise of their Application Managed Services contract.
Are you among those clients who have signed up with a Managed Services vendor and are falling short of the requirements from your business team or from your CIO’s objectives?
Application Managed services, as the name suggests, should encompass an end-to-end service that is provided to your organization, where the goals of both the vendor and the client are aligned, and where there is a joint effort to fill in the gaps that are left undefined in the contract.
Every Managed Service contract is entered with the objectives of lowering the total cost of ownership while improving the quality of the services. However, how this benefit is accrued by your business is left unaddressed in most contracts.
The key questions addressed by this presentation include:
• How can Managed Services Engagement drive Transformation?
• How can automation be applied effectively in order to meet business objectives, not just technology goals?
• How a well-structured approach to defining a Managed Services contract can benefit your business over the long term?
• How effective Governance of a Managed Services contract is as important as defining the contract itself?
If you have been working on defining a managed services contract or facing any of the challenges listed above, do attend our webinar to understand more about Managed Services engagement as well as the frameworks and tools that are used to simplify the journey for your organization.

Cloud migration brings scalability and flexibility, and often reduced cost to organizations. But even after moving to the cloud, more often than not, organizational data can be found to be siloed, hard to access and lacking centralized governance. That leads to delay and often missed opportunities in value creation from enterprise data. Join Amit Mody, Senior Manager at Accenture, in this keynote session to learn why current physical data architectures are hindrance to value creation from data, what is a logical data fabric powered by data virtualization and how a logical data fabric can unlock the value creation potential for enterprises.

Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Accelerating Cloud Data Warehouse
Adoption using Cloud EDMA
Customer
The US Indices arm of one of the largest exchanges in Europe
Business Scenario
The organization was increasingly becoming data-driven, this
led to their Line of Businesses (LOBs) to spend considerable
amount of time and resources on data collation and analysis
to create meaningful insights. The other challenge faced by
these LOBs was the enormous time taken by the centralized
IT department to provision Data for them.
Based on our discussions with the client, the following
challenges were identified
• SQL Server based DW application that was developed
over past 12 years required enormous efforts to add new
data elements
• DW application was not scalable and had performance
issues
• The availability of the system was limited to few key
stakeholders based in US
Solution Delivered
Hexaware’s leveraged its Cloud EDMA (Enterprise Data Management
and Analytics) platform to assess the current situation and devise ways
to overcome these challenges. Hexaware came up with a cloud
readiness score and the probable RoI the customer will get post cloud
transformation and came up with the option to build a highly scalable
cloud data warehouse on AWS that could be provisioned in a quicker
time frame and handle high volumes of data processing. A 2-year
roadmap was defined to completely build the DW and Analytics
infrastructure on cloud. Using Cloud EDMA’s cloud consulting services,
various tools on AWS were evaluated and finally a stack based on
EMR, Red Shift, Talend and S3 was recommended to the client. The
processed data was transformed and stored in S3, and Amazon’s
columnar DB- RedShift, EMR was used for Data processing
on-demand. Hexaware assessed the existing DW based on SSIS jobs,
Stored Procs, SSRS reports, fund fact sheets leveraging the IP tools
and defined the incremental scope of work as phase 0, 1 and 2 as a
one-year program. Phase 0 was the foundation solution to
demonstrate the capability of the platform, Phase 1 of the project
comprised of gathering data from 3 primary data sources followed by
8+ data sources in Phase 2.

Business outcome
• Cloud EDMA solution eventually lead to savings of about £800,000 of Operational Expenditure a year in infrastructure and licensing costs
• Moving completely to cloud reduced several hours of multi-part data ingestion to automated single bulk load thus saving about 6 hours
on data loading time
• EMR, the managed service component of AWS serving the role of an Administrator performed auto-scalability of instances based on the
processing need.
• The Cloud Data Warehouse which was mainly built for internal stakeholders was extended to deliver information and analytical insights
for external clients through a self-service model.
