Informal Leadership In Sports Organizations
A leader is someone who directs a group where to go. This person exists in almost every team
and group (Vercillo, 2016). I have not been in a business organization, but I have been in a sports
organization, which have vast similarities. The entire program of a sports team is like a business
organization, and is supervised by a head director. In addition, the coaches are like the business top
managers and the players are like the employees in a business.
With sports, many leaders are within a team. I personally have been a coach, formal leader, and a
player, informal leader, when it comes to an organization, and I know that both are vastly
important. Through my experiences with dealing with sporting teams, I believe the best leaders are

Formal leaders, coaches, show the entire team the path in where to go. In some cases, the agenda
of the formal leader and the informal conflict. In cases in my organization, the coach wants the
best of the entire organization allowing every kid an opportunity to learn from its mistake. In
addition, the informal leader, the player, wants what is best for the team to win at all costs. To
solve this problem, there has to be clear communication between the player and coach. Formal
leaders and informal leaders have to coexist in order for the betterment of the organization and team.
According to article, Leadership to the Power of 8, leaders have to manage and then lead self,
other, context, and system, they become of necessity increasingly attentive and increasingly
intentional (Hamilton, 2012). There are certain qualities leaders have to possess in order to lead
effectively. Qualities as responsibility, respect, and confidence are traits that both formal and
informal leaders have to show its followers for them to have reassurance of their leadership. I
believe that leading by example is the best way to lead because it shows their followers what is

Dbq Valley Forge
Valley Forge was the military camp in southeastern Pennsylvania, approximately 20 miles northwest
of Philadelphia, where the American Continental Army spent the winter of 1777 78 during the
American Revolutionary War. Ultimately this was our housing for the toughest of the tough in the
most important battle for Americans alike. Freedom. And we wanted it bad. So bad enough we
ditched England and made it so far to valley forge. And in modern day we awe at the bravery of
these solders. But one. Everlasting question still lingers, would you stay or quit?
During the hot summers of the war the cabins were at minimum five degrees hotter. But we will
set that aside from the fact that these solders were mad. Sad. And frankly out of it. See they haven

loss was making Washington s army in order. All of that coming from the back round essay. And
Washington also was running out of food water and mainly all there supplies. And when word got

Information Technology Systems, Their Performance And Risk...
According to Richard Brisebois, Greg Boyd, and Ziad Shadid, IT Governance focuses specifically
on information technology systems, their performance and risk management. The primary goals of
IT Governance are to assure that the investments in IT generate business value, and to mitigate the
risks that are associated with IT. This can be done by implementing an organizational structure with
well defined roles for the responsibility of information, business processes, applications, and
infrastructure. (Brisebois, Boyd, and Shadid, n.d.). IM/IT priorities recently changed to concentrate
on the integration of systems across several facilities, computerization of patient records and
improve decision support for clinicians and managers. The IT Governance Institute business models
developed an in depth value realization process, directing IM/IT leadership to obtain their goals,
and guides organizations make business decisions accurately and timely. The five primary
components of a healthcare IM/IT governance includes 1) Developing a consistent IM/IT strategy,
2) Aligning IM/IT with organizational strategy, 3) Developing IM/IT infrastructure, architecture,

Executive Summary
Once brewed in ancient Egypt thousands of years ago, beer is now brewed in Palestine. One of
the first micro breweries in the Middle East, the brewing company was established in 1994 and is
located in Taybeh a Palestinian Christian village in the West Bank located 20 miles from
Jerusalem. The first beer was produced in 1995.
Taybeh beer was the first Palestinian product to be franchised in Germany, where it was brewed
and bottled for sale in Europe. Taybeh beer is considered unique because it is made according to
the German purity law of 500 years ago which states that the beer should be made out of four basic
natural ingredients: malt, hops, pure water, and yeast, following every aspect of the German
brewing process. Taybeh beer produces three varieties: Golden, Light, and Dark.
The Taybeh brewery was born in the years of optimism that followed the Oslo peace accords in
the mid 1990s, a time when Palestinians and Israelis hoped an end to their conflict was in sight.
Nadim Khoury had left the village years before and was living in Boston in the United States,
where he had taught himself to brew beer at home. His family encouraged him to return to the
Palestine. Nadim is the production manager and CEO, his brother David is the financial manager
and sister Grace is the marketing manager. All of them have high degrees in business administration.

Is Altruism Exist
Altruism could be defined as a moral tenet which dictates that individuals have an ethical
responsibility to help or benefit others, even at the sacrifice of one s own self interest, if required.
Altruism as a word is originally derived from the Italian word alturi , which in turn was derived
from the Latin word alteri , meaning other people (Ciciloni, 1838). In simple terms, altruismis the
concept of concern and care for the well being of others and the presence of a continuous desire to
help them. However, it has been mystifying philosophers and scientists for centuries as it is
understood and explained differently in terms of sociology, neurobiology, and religion, although
there is a common denominator between the three principles as they all highlight certain human
nature act or a typical social behavior among humans. There is a myriad of studies and concrete
proof within the confines of the realms of the principles I mentioned above which give grounds for
the idea that true altruism does not exist.
First, altruism has been continuously discussed in sociology as Auguste Comte, who is often
regarded as the founder of modern sociology, is sometimes credited with originating the concept of
Altruism. To begin, Sociobiologists argue that altruistic behavior has its roots in self interest, the
unconscious desire to protect one s genetic heritage (sociologyindex, nd). ... Show more content on

But it is becoming more evident that genuine altruism does not really exist, thanks to several
elements such as the kin selection theory, the recent understanding of specific areas of our brain
which relates directly to giving people and also the religious aspect of the issue. In a word, a good
deal of evidence and proof which exists within the domains of sociology, neurobiology and religion
attests that true altruism does not

Descriptive Essay About A Plane
A plane descends from a high elevation to a leveled point and then ultimately softly landing on the
airport grounds.
Poof, bark, whir were all sounds that the plane made from the moment the pilot started the engine.
I looked around looking at how different people would react to these noises but they all seemed
quite used to everything. I took a glimpse of a few people that were on the plane and I saw that this
one bald white man who wore plaid had his laptop in front of him typing something that seemed
to be long. Maybe he was a reporter or even one of those weird writers who write stuff as a
profession. Two seats behind the man there was a woman probably in her early 30 s, pale skin,
coarse hair, squinting hard to read the newspaper. Hearing someone whispering something I turned
around in the back of my seat to see that there was an old lady praying something my mom
described as speaking in tongues. All I thought about is how this plane was able to fly in the air
without any strings attached to it like in the cartoons.

Importance of High Frequency Trading
Introduction
What is HFT?
While there is no definite answer to what high frequency might be, it has been generally accepted
that they are the type of trades automated by machines using proprietary algorithms and trade at
very high speeds, often executing at least a few trades in under a second. HFT strategies can be
broadly categorized into 4 groups:
Liquidity Providence: Rebate Trading, Automated Market Trading.
Pricing Inefficiency Arbitrage: Scalping, Latency Arbitrage, Statistical Arbitrage
Predatory Trading: Latency Arbitrage Flash Orders, Quote Stuffing
Directional Trading: News trading, Liquidity Detection, Momentum Trading: One prominent
strategy include searching for hidden large orders by pinging small orders. When a ... Show more

This example is most glaring during market crashes because HFTs would permanently cancel their
orders and liquidity unexpectedly dries up when it is most needed in the market. For example,
many HFTs withdrew from the market during the 2010 flash crash and some even became liquid
demanders (A Blessing or A Curse? The Impact of HFT on Institutional Investors). As such, during
crises, HFTs could cause market dislocation to occur as they pull out from the markets and funds
will not be able to offload positions as macro news events build up, causing some to suffer huge
losses. (http://www.forbes.com/sites/richardfinger/2013/09/30/high frequency trading is it a dark
force against ordinary human traders and investors/).
Also, there are few HFT type market making presence in securities that have a relatively high bid
spread. This is because for HFTs to make the markets in less liquid counters, it requires them to hold
long term unwanted positions in the security thus making the cost of market making high. As such,
long term investors would still be sustaining a high bid spread ratio when trading in less liquid
markets.
Avoiding HFT
In regards to liquidity detection by HFTs, funds have also begun to not trade in large open markets
when they know it s difficult to hide large positions, preferably instead in using dark pools an off
exchange platform operated by brokers. But this method would cause funds not to have the best bid

Every students focus on taking notes when time comes for their examination and it is certainly
interesting how different styles of note taking can affect the result of their examinations. For
example, some students emphasize important aspects by highlighting it or leaving special marks
such as drawing stars and etc. This report will focus on how to study for exams and there are five
steps that have been acquired from the web (they are listed below).
How to study for exam
1.Review your syllabi
2.Pay attention in class

Out of five steps, this report will exceptionally concentrate on step 3: take good notes. This step
will be linked with visual perception and colour, auditory perception, short term memory and long
term memory.
How is visual perception and colour related to taking notes? Perception is an active process of

Why Is It Hard To Engage In A Social Movement
Q 1: Those more likely to engage in a social movement are, the relatively well off, well educated,
and active (Meyer 62). Furthermore, movements for collective action, tend to be full of people
from the middle class and above (63). In other words, the type of people who are the easiest to
mobilize for collective action in a social movementare college educated individuals who are not
living paycheck to paycheck. Individuals who are less likely to participate are those without
biographical availability , a term coined by Doug McAdam to mean the absence of responsibilities
in terms of financial or emotional support. A lack of availability will make these individuals the
hardest to mobilize when compared to your average college student.
Q 2: Utilizing various incentives is useful when trying to increase mobilization for collective action.
Meyer mentions three kinds of incentives that can be employed: purposive, material, and solidary.

DISCUSSION
The objective of this study is to examine the differences between the vegan and omnivore diet and
to study the relationship of these diets to body composition, blood lipids, and the serum hormones
vitamin D and parathyroid hormone. As seen previously, those eating an omnivore diet consumed
significantly more dietary protein than those consuming a vegan diet (2; 3). The values we
observed for dietary protein in both the vegan and the omnivore groups were similar to those seen
by Hadded et al. (3) and Janelle and Barr (2). The women in our study eating an omnivore diet

We found no significant difference between the two diet groups in the serum vitamin D levels. A
study of vegan women in Finland found vegans to be deficient in vitamin D intake without
supplements or adequate sunlight exposure through vacations in sunny locations (12). The vegan
women in our study had adequate serum vitamin D levels, which may be the result of 1)
incorporating enough vitamin D in their diets possibly using fortified foods and supplements; 2)
they were exposed to adequate sunlight or 3) a combination of both.
Although reviews of the vegetarian diet (5; 13) warn that deficiencies in several micronutrients are
possible, the only marginal nutrient we found in the vegan group is calcium intake. There are
several possible reasons for this difference. Vegans may be more health conscious, physically more
active, and have a greater understanding of the role of nutrition in general health. As a result, they
may also consume more supplements. Another contributing factor may be the recent increase in
commercially available foods fortified with a wide variety of vitamins and minerals that may lead
to higher levels of intake when whole diets are examined. These results may be somewhat biased
compared to the general population because we studied young adult college women primarily.
Another possible confounding factor is the

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Orlogans
ADVANCES IN REINFORCED RESTORATIONS: A REVIEW ORMOCERS Ormocers, a word
originally derived from organically modified ceramic, were originally developed for science and
technology (e. g. for special surfaces like protective coatings, non stick surfaces, anti static coatings
and non reflective coatings). In contrast to conventional composites, the ormocer matrix is not only
organic but also inorganic. Therefore monomers are better embedded in the matrix what reduces the
release of monomers.(373) Ormocers basically consist of three components organic and inorganic
portions and the polysiloxanes. The proportions of those components can affect the mechanical,
thermal and optical qualities of the material: 1.The organic polymers influence the polarity, the
ability to cross link, hardness and optical behaviour. 2.The glass and ceramic components (inorganic
constituents) are responsible for thermal expansion and chemical stability. 3.The polysiloxanes
influence the elasticity, interface properties and processing. 4.The inorganic components are bound
to the organic polymers by multifunctional silane molecules. After polymerisation the organic
portion of the methacrylate groups form a three dimensional network.(374) In spite of all efforts to

The Strengths Of The Prince In Machiavelli s The Prince
Machiavelli s The Prince can be utilized as a guidebook to answer: How best can a ruler
maintain control of his state? Therefore, if any employer reads it as a how to book rather than
just a work of political theory, they can be seen as the ruler while the state would be the rest of
the employees. If this is followed like an agenda, the sole purpose of government is not the good
of the people but the stability of the state and the perpetuation of the established ruler s control. It
would define the city as an entity existing to serve its ruler rather than its populace. Obtaining the
support of the people is not a goal in itself, but rather a means for ensuring that the city remains

Post Structuralism And Post Modernism
Hassrad and Cox (2013) sought to create a model that modernizes and adapts the Burrell and

structuralism, and more broadly, post modernism. This section will briefly discuss each of Burrell

this modification. Hassard and Cox see three main approaches to organizational theorizing,
structural, anti structural and post structural. Hassard and Cox (2013) also make notable
adaptations to the understanding of paradigms by rethinking them as less insulated and static and

Violence in Dracula
Throughout many types of literature, violence exists to enhance the reader s interest in order to
add a sense of excitement or conflict to a novel. This statement withholds much truthfulness due
to the fact that without violence in a piece of literature such as Dracula by Bram Stoker, the plot
would not have the same impact if it were lacking violence. So to holds true to that of the movie.
The movie bares different characteristics then that of the book. First off, the whole ordeal with the
wolf escaping and jumping into Lucy s, room and Lucy s mom having a heart attacked is never

In the closing chapters, is where the sheer brilliance of both Copola and Stoker come into play,
From Myna Harkers journal the final pages are unfolded. At sunset on November 6, they see
below them a large cart, driven by gypsies, carrying a box of earth and being driven at a gallop.
There are four men converging on the gypsies: Seward and Quincy from the south, and Jonathan
and Arthur from the north. The sun is rapidly sinking as they intercept the cart, and the gypsies
move to defend their cargo. Jonathan and Quincy force their way through the defenders, and with
strength that seemed incredible, (Stoker 321) This is very ironic for both the movie and the story,
because Harker is not really seen as being a courageous strong individual but more weak meable
soul. With all his strength Jon flings the box to the ground. Quincy has been wounded, but together
the two men fling back the lid just as Seward and Arthur reach them. From her vantagepoint, Mina
can see Dracula s face contorted in hate, and then the sunsets, and the look of hate . . . turned to
triumph. (Stoker 324) This quote is probably the most appealing quote in the book, Because no

the night and holds almost all his power then. Dracula jumps out of the box and almost immediately

Disadvantages Of Commission Based Compensation
Scenario 1: Commission Based Compensation A commission based approach to employee
compensation has its pros and cons from the standpoint of the firm. Let us look at the
advantages. Reduces fixed costs: As mentioned in the Wall Street Letter (2003), one of the main
advantages of a commission based salary is that it helps to reduce fixed costs. Fixed costs cover
the basic salaries of the sales personnel while the variable costs cover the commission. With a
commission based salary structure, sales personnel will get a lower basic salary while more
incentive is incorporated into their commission structure. Thus this will reduce a firm s fixed costs
significantly. Healthier cash flow: Commission based compensation gives the firm a financial
advantage such that it only pays the sales personnel upon sales conversions (Kokemuller). That is,

This is mainly due to the diversification of the various markets, customers and channels. Hence it
is a challenge for a firm to implement its domestic processes across the global locations. In the

This is a key factor and the firm has to be prepared for higher costs when expatriates are used.
The relocation costs, the expatriate package which includes the family members etc. Expertise
required for the assignment: The firm has to assess whether the expertise and skills required for
the assignment can be filled up by a local employee instead of expatriate. Cross cultural linguistic
knowledge: This is always the top challenge for the firm on expatriate assignment. There is the
fear that the expatriate may not be able to blend into a different culture as well as the need to
speak the native language (Insiun, 2012). Scenario 5: Effective HR to Build HR

Era of Heroes in the Golden Age of Sports
The 1920 s was an era of role models and great heroes. This period was known as The Golden
Age of sports. This was a time where Americans wanted to put the memory of the World War I in
the past and appreciate life. It began with the Black Sox scandal of 1919 continuing with
historic record breaking athletes. The introduction of radio made is easier for fans to follow
their favorite teams. The economy of the United States was strong for most of the time. New
and bigger stadiums were built and for the first time Americans began to pay money to watch
such high level of competition. This is a decade to be remembered. Sports are very vital. They
offer a lifestyle, an occupation, and even a dream. Sports require physical activity and skill in
which a team or an individual compete against others for entertainment. As David G. McComb
comments in Sports in World History , there is a high degree of training, investment, and coaching,
along with spectators, rules, publicity, and institutional control that come along with these
activities. While participating in sports, it is required to be able to undertake a difficult situation
and perform the best out of it. Sports are definitely more than just a game. Baseball is widely
known as the national pastime in the 1920 s. It was by far the most popular sport of the era. The
most famous athlete in the country at the time was George Herman, commonly known as Babe
Ruth. The right fielder for the New York Yankees hit homerun after

Comparing Madagascar And Madagascar, Malawi And Malawi
Madagascar and Malawi are two countries in Africa that both have control and protection over their
natural resources and also their property rights. Each country has natural resources and the two
countries listed above share a few of the same ones. The government has organizations in both
Madagascar and Malawi that protect and monitor the natural resources that are in their countries.
Something unique that separates Madagascar from Malawi is that Madagascar also relies heavily
on their community to help preserve their resources and keep them kept well. The propertyrights in
both of the above countries are similar in the sense that the government makes the laws and they
are to be followed. There can be many changes in laws and regulations when new bills are passed
or a new leader is elected. Madagascar and Malawi are both countries in Africawith very similar
ways of control over their natural resources and property rights. After lots of research
Madagascar s stance on the control of natural resources are not protected by just a group of
people but instead they rely on the whole community. Malawi has a somewhat similar take on their
control because they use an organization to monitor their resources. Without any control or
protection over them people will destroy them and they will no longer be special to that country.

who was stabbed to death multiple times and finally was killed in her own neighborhood and no

There were a few differences on this base research experiment. To begin with, there were various
group sizes in various instances. For instance, there were either groups of two, three, and six
people. There was only one actual participant per group, while the rest were part of the experiment.
This was the independent variable. It was intended to test if the number of individuals would
diffuse the duty given in a crisis circumstance. In addition to that, various types of individuals took
part in this study. Different genders and authority figure was presented. This person was a
premedical student working at the emergency ward at Bellevue Hospital. Initially, it was meant to
find any distinction in different genders responding. Also, it was intended to figure out if the
presence of an authority figure would affect the participant s response if they were to assume that
the medical student would take charge in a crisis situation.
Furthermore, the dependent variable was the speed of the individuals reporting the emergency of
someone having a seizure to the experimenter. The experiment was terminated if individuals did not
seek assistance for the seizure victim within six minutes. Thus, this research was conducted in a
correlational fashion. Then the true essence of the experiment was revealed. Then

Torture and disappearances were not officially sanctioned, but were the inevitable excesses of war.
The statements from the Junta failed to convince the Argentine people not only because they knew
that it was false, but because the fate of the disappeared was of an overarching public concern. The
meaning of a disappeared as someone alive yet missing changed into someone dead yet unaccounted
for. Unlike in the case of the Holocaust, where the absence of proof of the death of millions of
concentration camps, the Argentine dirty war lacked such open ideological framework and visible
infrastructure of mass murder. The Argentine military always denied having the disappeared in
secret detention and thus nurtured a hope among relatives that was hard to abandon. Furthermore,
the political reality of an Argentina climbing out of years of authoritarianism did not allow for the
public acceptance of a presumption of death without the presence of a corpse. The continued
demand for truth demonstrates that personal and social traumas revolve around a search for the
meaning of past suffering. An individual may forget or not recall certain devastating experiences,

Behind the global power of the U.S. dollar, hides the most significant form of currency you ve

The Institution Of Slavery And Attitudes Towards It...
Question 1 The institution of slavery and attitudes towards it changed dramatically in the late 18th
and early 19th centuries. Describe the changes and explain the various arguments made for and
against the expansion of slavery. Who, if anyone, was arguing for abolition and who was defending
the institution of slavery? Finally, in your opinion was their room for compromise on the issue of
slavery that could have averted conflict? Why or why not?
From as far back as history goes there has been slavery and the sad fact is that even today slavery
is still part of society. In the 18th and 19th century the largest movement for abolishing slavery
took place. Many notable men in history spoke out against slavery and helped to fuel the fire of
the pro slavery groups. Benjamin Franklin said Slavery is such an atrocious debasement of
human nature, that its very extirpation, if not performed with solicitous care, may sometimes
open a source of serious evils. (Franklin, 1789) Thomas Jefferson once said, But, as it is, we have
the wolf by the ear, and we can neither hold him, nor safely let him go. Justice is in one scale, and
self preservation in the other. (Ford, 1892 1899)
Slavery was a hot topic in political debates as well and a great example was the speech given by
Abraham Lincoln, House Divided. Douglas and Lincoln debated many times over popular
sovereignty and slavery. George Fitzhugh, a supporter of slavery, wrote: The negro slaves of the

crisis in the country s history, which left a permanent scar on American society and culture, causing
millions of people to suffer and experience joblessness, and homelessness, for nearly a decade.
With so many hardships facing people in this time they all wanted the same thing, which was to
get a job and get back all they had lost. This led people to change whom they were and gain new
identities to fit the new society. Throughout the novel, the Invisible Man is searching for his
identity. At the start of Ralph Ellison s novel, we are introduced to a self proclaimed invisible man.

Machiavelli’S The Prince Was Written During The Early Years
Machiavelli s The Prince was written during the early years of the sixteenth century and was one
of the most profound and controversial pieces of literature to emerge from the Renaissance. The
political treatise was written for Lorenzo de Medici in hopes that he would use the principles
taught in it to rule in Italy. Machiavelli planned for the piece of literature to impress Medici and
hopefully persuade him to give Machiavelli a position within the Italian government, a position
that he longed to go back to. The Medici family ultimately never implemented any of Machiavelli s
recommendations, but one could find examples of famous rulers from the past that exemplify
Machiavelli s ideal ruler. The Prince is a timeless piece of literature... Show more content on

At the very least, one could say that the books influence spread much farther than the author
intended or even expected to. According to Machiavelli, there are four main ways that a prince
is able to come to power. The first way to achieve power is through prowess (personal skill and
ability). The second way is through fortune, which means good luck. The third way is through
corruption; examples would be to attain power through a rebellion, plot, or assassination. The
fourth and last way is constitutional, meaning to attain power by support from either the nobles
or commoners. The most important comparison to be made between these four ways is between
prowess and fortune. Attaining a state through prowess is clearly going to be more difficult than
profiting from sheer good fortune, however; a prince that is blessed with prowess is more likely
to hold a strong foundation on his rule, whereas a man with fortune is erratic and unpredictable
which potentially leads to a prince s overthrow just as it had to his rise. That being said, preserving
a prince s power is far easier when said prince attained power through his own cleverness. Being that
the preservation of power is essential to Machiavelli, he determines that prowess is the better of the
two routes for becoming a prince. Another similarity can be made amongst the criminal and
constitutional methods of attaining control. The main

Count Of Monte Cristo Accuracy
Historical Movie Analysis: The Count of Monte Cristo (2002)
The Count of Monte Cristo (2002) was written by Jay Wolpert and directed by Kevin Reynolds. It
was based on the novel of the same name written by Alexander Dumas and Auguste Maquet in
1844. The movie was met with moderate financial and critical success making $75.4 million
dollars off a budget of $35 million and receiving a 73% on rotten tomatoes. But statistics aside how
historically accurate and relevant is The Count of Monte Cristo? That is the question I will be
answering in this short paper but before I go over the historical accuracies and inaccuracies let
me give you a brief summery of the movie to give you a better idea of the world and time period
this movie tries to portray. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Surprisingly to me I couldn t find too many historical inaccuracies in this movie. The settings of
scenes match up well with 1800s France and all of the architecture is generally similar to French
architecture of the time period. Where I found the most inaccuracies was in the clothes that the
characters wore. Doing a little research on the fashion of the 1800s, specifically 1815 1844 when
the story takes place, I found that the style of clothes that the characters wear would be nearly half
a century old, the clothes worn in the film being more reminiscent to late 1700s fashion. Not to
mention the total negation of hats in the film which were a staple of men s fashion throughout
the 1800s. But the most glaring inaccuracy, concerning fashion of the time, are the clothes that
are worn by the Count of Monte Cristo himself, Edmond DantГЁs. In what I assume to be an
artistic design choice to make the count seem more regal or foreign, as he tries to appear as if
he s not from France, only comes off as odd and off putting for the time period. Unfortunately
since the story of The Count of Monte Cristo is a fictional story there isn t a lot more that I can
compare to real world events that took place during the time period, however I can go over some
events that the film

Topic: Emily Dickinson s life and how it affected her work Emily Dickinson was born in
Amherst on December 10, 1830. She is considered an introvert because she increasingly
withdrew from public life and wrote poems about life, love and death in the confines of her
bedroom. Her feelings of desire and death are demonstrated using unusual scenarios meant to
stretch the readers thinking. Prior to her demise, Emily had only made attempts to publish few of
her poems because she chose to share them privately with family and friends. It was not until after
her death that her family discovered hundreds of poems that Emily had crafted over the years. The
majority of her works were influenced by the few people that she met while growing up. She lost
very many important people; hence, the central themes in her poems are immortality and death.

Alfred Hitchcock Research Paper

Alfred Hitchcock
Alfred Hitchcock was known as a true filmmaker who produced and created successful horror
films. Producing five decades of filmmaking, Hitchcock became a horror guru. From the
shocking, blood curdling film Psycho to his greatest black and white horror prequel Bates Motel,
Hitchcock was able to pave the way for other horror filmmakers. As a little girl growing up, I watch
every horror film I could think of. When you re that fragile young age you never know what, how
and when your mind will be shaped at any moment. Just like Hitchcock, I was immersed with many
things different. Horror Movies helped by at the same time hurt me. Although I was not allowed to

His 1929 film Blackmail is said to be the first British talkie (Stiernberg, Bonnie, 2012). After
gaining experience for a few years, he then left for Hollywood where his first American film,
Rebecca was filmed. In the 1930s, he directed such classic suspenseful films such as The Man
Who Knew Too Much and The 39 Steps. He ended up winning an Academy Award for best
picture for this spectacular project. Hitchcock continues making films and received the AFI s
Life Achievement Award in 1979. His time on earth was shortened when he died in 1980.
Although he is no longer here, his films left a mark on horror filming as a whole. The funny
thing about admiring Alfred Hitchcock s work is that it has become a bit of a clichГ©, which is
actually somewhat ironic since one of his greatest contributions to cinema was the fact that he
broke apart clichГ©s in not only the genre he worked in most, namely psychological thrillers, but
in visual storytelling overall. For example, before the crop duster scene in North By Northwest, a
similar scene would most likely take place at night, in a claustrophobic, darkened alley in a big
city, not during a sunny day out in a cornfield in the middle of Nowhere,

Arguments Against The Warren Court
One of Nixon s campaign pledges was to appoint conservative judges to the Supreme Court to
counter the perceived liberalism of the Warren Court. Supporters of this pledge claimed that the
Warren Court s permissive rulings were eroding the moral base of the country and that their
coddling of criminals had led to high crime rates and serious civil disturbances. Another complaint
against the Warren Court was that it engaged in judicial activism, meaning the intent of the court
s decisions went beyond settling disputes between particular parties and into the arena of law
making. Racial desegregation and the reapportionment of voting districts are examples of areas in
which the court s mandates affected not just the parties engaged in the suit, but literally every
American. Even some who approved the broad measures resulting from Warren Court rulings
were troubled by the idea of a court, whose members were appointed for life, being allowed the
power to actively change society. They argued that the court s job was to decide on the
constitutionality of existing laws, and they felt that the power to change laws was only held by the
Congress, whose members were... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the basis of artificial hurdles such as physical strength or intelligence tests when these did not

avoidance of charges of discrimination was for employers to hire workers and for schools to admit

The Importance Of Happiness And Happiness
Have you ever truly sat and considered what makes you truly happy? Often times, people answer
directly with the response of money. We say this without deeply considering all that we have to be
grateful for. Happiness is not achieved through wealth instead through experiences, the family we
love, and the nature that surrounds us, literature has created a great impact upon the ideals we
consider to create our happiness. The texts, High incomes don t bring you Happiness and You can
buy Happiness, if it s an Experience , completes the idea that monetary value does not bring true
joy. In the passage, High incomes don t bring you Happiness , the author states that bringing in
an over excessive amount of money will not make one happy. The author said that an overall
income of around $75,000 will complete one s emotional well being, while anything over that
will complete a life evaluation. Life evaluation is the idea that if one was to look at themselves
while they re in their deathbed, how would they rate their lifestyle. This is also supported through
different statements within the passage, You can buy Happiness, if it s an Experience . Within this
study, it was proven that people enjoyed money, but often spent it on materialistic items which
leaves them with a temporary feeling of satisfaction, while when they are given a fully paid trip to
the Bahamas, the feeling of peace and joy lasts far longer than when they were to purchase an item
of materialistic value. This

important aspect is to choose the right goals for the right career. My career goals include a form

Teaching Philosophy Statement
After completing this teacher interview activity, I am beyond excited to become a teacher. I
feel this way not only because Heather strongly agrees that teaching is an optimal choice of a
young person today but due to the passion she possesses for her job. As Heather described her
classroom and what it is like to spend all day with children, I just cannot wait until I am teaching.
Children have this undeniable excitement about them; everyday is a good day, as they do not
have a care in the world. I hope this positive outlook on life with fill my body everyday just as it

International Response To The Rwandan Genocide In The 20th...
Rwandan Genocide
Throughout the 20th century, numerous acts of genocides have attempted to bring the complete
elimination and devastation of large groups of people originating from various particular ethnicities.
With these genocides occurring in many regions of the world, the perpetrators often organizing
such crimes, have historically been larger and more powerful than the victims themselves. Often
being the government and its military forces. However, the lack of international response
associated with these genocides, further contributed to the devastating outcomes. On April 6,1994,
the fastest killing spree of the century took place in Rwanda against the Tutsi minority population.
With many warning signs having already been proclaimed prior to the start of the Rwandan
genocide, I believe that with international interference, this bloodshed could have ultimately been
prevented.
Rwanda is a country located in Central Eastern Africa, with an extensive history of colonization,
after Belgium attained control in 1924. Belgium s rule however also marked the beginning of a
lengthy ethnic rivalry between the Hutu and the Tutsi people. Belgium favored the Tutsi the
minority at 14 percent of the population over the Hutu, the majority at 85 percent, simply because
the Tutsis were more resembling of the Europeans. Colonial policy helped to intensify bipolar
differentiation between Tutsi and Hutu, by inscribing ethnic identification on identity cards, by
relegating the vast majority of Hutu to particularly onerous forms of forced cultivation and corvee,
and by actively favoring Tutsi in access to administrative posts, education, and jobs in the modern
sector, (Newbury, 12). Belgium s control fueled the Hutu s resentment towards the Tutsis because
the Tutsis received superior treatment for decades. Thus, when Rwanda finally acquired
independence in 1962, the Hutus fought for control over the government, highlighting the first
warning sign of the genocide to come. Many Tutsis were killed afterwards, while many others fled
to neighboring countries to escape the violence.
The second warning sign appeared, in the spring of 1992, [when] the Belgian ambassador in Kigali,

Environmental Effects of War
ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES IN CONDUCT OF WAR
INTRODUCTION
War is never an isolated act.
War is a phenomenon of organized violent conflict, typified by extreme aggression, societal
disruption and adaptation, and high mortality. Usually a war is a pre planned activity to begin with
by one group or one nation and the group initiates the war by means of violence against the other.
The primary feature of this behaviour pattern is a certain state of organized conflict that is
engaged in between two or more separate social entities. Such a conflict is always an attempt at
altering either the psychological hierarchy or the material hierarchy of domination or equality
between two or more groups. In all cases, at least one participant (group) in the ... Show more

For example after the war finishes , usually the losing nations pays compensations or money for
reparations to the victorious nations for the destruction caused. In many cases , land is ceded to
victorious nations. The victorious nations control the losing nation s economy according to its
own principles and theories and eventually end up in exploiting its natural and economic
resources. Typically speaking, war becomes very intertwined with the economy and many wars
are partially or entirely based on economic reasons such as the American Civil War. In some
cases war has stimulated a country s economy for example World War II is often credited with
bringing America out of the Great Depression but in many cases, such as the wars of Louis XIV,
the Franco Prussian War, and World War I
, warfare serves only to damage the economy of the
countries involved. For example, Russia s involvement in World War I took such a toll on the
Russian economy that it almost collapsed and greatly contributed to the start of the Russian
Revolution of 1917. War not only adversely affects the life of the people but also other essential
things required for their survival. War can affect the environment that it takes place in. War destroys
crops, forest, water systems, and other natural resources. Wars can also cause pollution in the air,
land, and the water.
It is very difficult to point out that these are the particular impacts of war as the impacts of war
varies from war to

  • 2. Informal Leadership In Sports Organizations A leader is someone who directs a group where to go. This person exists in almost every team and group (Vercillo, 2016). I have not been in a business organization, but I have been in a sports organization, which have vast similarities. The entire program of a sports team is like a business organization, and is supervised by a head director. In addition, the coaches are like the business top managers and the players are like the employees in a business. With sports, many leaders are within a team. I personally have been a coach, formal leader, and a player, informal leader, when it comes to an organization, and I know that both are vastly important. In cases in my organization, the coach wants the best of the entire organization allowing every kid an opportunity to learn from its mistake. In addition, the informal leader, the player, wants what is best for the team to win at all costs. To solve this problem, there has to be clear communication between the player and coach. Formal leaders and informal leaders have to coexist in order for the betterment of the organization and team. According to article, Leadership to the Power of 8, leaders have to manage and then lead self, other, context, and system, they become of necessity increasingly attentive and increasingly intentional (Hamilton, 2012). There are certain qualities leaders have to possess in order to lead effectively. Qualities as responsibility, respect, and confidence are traits that both formal and informal leaders have to show its followers for them to have reassurance of their leadership. Dbq Valley Forge Valley Forge was the military camp in southeastern Pennsylvania, approximately 20 miles northwest of Philadelphia, where the American Continental Army spent the winter of 1777 78 during the American Revolutionary War. Ultimately this was our housing for the toughest of the tough in the most important battle for Americans alike. Freedom. And we wanted it bad. So bad enough we ditched England and made it so far to valley forge. And in modern day we awe at the bravery of these solders. But one. Everlasting question still lingers, would you stay or quit? During the hot summers of the war the cabins were at minimum five degrees hotter. But we will set that aside from the fact that these solders were mad. Sad. And frankly out of it. See they haven t been able to stop general Howe as he marched his army into the capital of Philadelphia. And this loss was making Washington s army in order. All of that coming from the back round essay. And Washington also was running out of food water and mainly all there supplies. And when word got back to congress about this mayhem. According to Richard Brisebois, Greg Boyd, and Ziad Shadid, IT Governance focuses specifically on information technology systems, their performance and risk management. The primary goals of IT Governance are to assure that the investments in IT generate business value, and to mitigate the risks that are associated with IT. This can be done by implementing an organizational structure with well defined roles for the responsibility of information, business processes, applications, and infrastructure. (Brisebois, Boyd, and Shadid, n.d.). IM/IT priorities recently changed to concentrate on the integration of systems across several facilities, computerization of patient records and improve decision support for clinicians and managers. The first beer was produced in 1995. Taybeh beer was the first Palestinian product to be franchised in Germany, where it was brewed and bottled for sale in Europe. Taybeh beer is considered unique because it is made according to the German purity law of 500 years ago which states that the beer should be made out of four basic natural ingredients: malt, hops, pure water, and yeast, following every aspect of the German brewing process. Taybeh beer produces three varieties: Golden, Light, and Dark. The Taybeh brewery was born in the years of optimism that followed the Oslo peace accords in the mid 1990s, a time when Palestinians and Israelis hoped an end to their conflict was in sight. Nadim Khoury had left the village years before and was living in Boston in the United States, where he had taught himself to brew beer at home. His family encouraged him to return to the Palestine. • 7. Is Altruism Exist Altruism could be defined as a moral tenet which dictates that individuals have an ethical responsibility to help or benefit others, even at the sacrifice of one s own self interest, if required. Altruism as a word is originally derived from the Italian word alturi , which in turn was derived from the Latin word alteri , meaning other people (Ciciloni, 1838). In simple terms, altruismis the concept of concern and care for the well being of others and the presence of a continuous desire to help them. However, it has been mystifying philosophers and scientists for centuries as it is understood and explained differently in terms of sociology, neurobiology, and religion, although there is a common denominator between the three principles as they all highlight certain human nature act or a typical social behavior among humans. There is a myriad of studies and concrete proof within the confines of the realms of the principles I mentioned above which give grounds for the idea that true altruism does not exist. First, altruism has been continuously discussed in sociology as Auguste Comte, who is often regarded as the founder of modern sociology, is sometimes credited with originating the concept of Altruism. To begin, Sociobiologists argue that altruistic behavior has its roots in self interest, the unconscious desire to protect one s genetic heritage (sociologyindex, nd). ... But it is becoming more evident that genuine altruism does not really exist, thanks to several elements such as the kin selection theory, the recent understanding of specific areas of our brain which relates directly to giving people and also the religious aspect of the issue. Poof, bark, whir were all sounds that the plane made from the moment the pilot started the engine. I looked around looking at how different people would react to these noises but they all seemed quite used to everything. I took a glimpse of a few people that were on the plane and I saw that this one bald white man who wore plaid had his laptop in front of him typing something that seemed to be long. Maybe he was a reporter or even one of those weird writers who write stuff as a profession. Two seats behind the man there was a woman probably in her early 30 s, pale skin, coarse hair, squinting hard to read the newspaper. Hearing someone whispering something I turned around in the back of my seat to see that there was an old lady praying something my mom described as speaking in tongues. For example, many HFTs withdrew from the market during the 2010 flash crash and some even became liquid demanders (A Blessing or A Curse? The Impact of HFT on Institutional Investors). As such, during crises, HFTs could cause market dislocation to occur as they pull out from the markets and funds will not be able to offload positions as macro news events build up, causing some to suffer huge losses. Furthermore, movements for collective action, tend to be full of people from the middle class and above (63). In other words, the type of people who are the easiest to mobilize for collective action in a social movementare college educated individuals who are not living paycheck to paycheck. Individuals who are less likely to participate are those without biographical availability , a term coined by Doug McAdam to mean the absence of responsibilities in terms of financial or emotional support. A lack of availability will make these individuals the hardest to mobilize when compared to your average college student. Eng135 Position Paper Position Paper ENG135 Jonathan Dougherty Professor Stephen Mendonca DISCUSSION The objective of this study is to examine the differences between the vegan and omnivore diet and to study the relationship of these diets to body composition, blood lipids, and the serum hormones vitamin D and parathyroid hormone. As seen previously, those eating an omnivore diet consumed significantly more dietary protein than those consuming a vegan diet (2; 3). The values we observed for dietary protein in both the vegan and the omnivore groups were similar to those seen by Hadded et al. (3) and Janelle and Barr (2). We found no significant difference between the two diet groups in the serum vitamin D levels. A study of vegan women in Finland found vegans to be deficient in vitamin D intake without supplements or adequate sunlight exposure through vacations in sunny locations (12). The vegan women in our study had adequate serum vitamin D levels, which may be the result of 1) incorporating enough vitamin D in their diets possibly using fortified foods and supplements; 2) they were exposed to adequate sunlight or 3) a combination of both. Although reviews of the vegetarian diet (5; 13) warn that deficiencies in several micronutrients are possible, the only marginal nutrient we found in the vegan group is calcium intake. There are several possible reasons for this difference. Vegans may be more health conscious, physically more active, and have a greater understanding of the role of nutrition in general health. As a result, they may also consume more supplements. Another contributing factor may be the recent increase in commercially available foods fortified with a wide variety of vitamins and minerals that may lead to higher levels of intake when whole diets are examined. These results may be somewhat biased compared to the general population because we studied young adult college women primarily. Another possible confounding factor is the ... What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Orlogans ADVANCES IN REINFORCED RESTORATIONS: A REVIEW ORMOCERS Ormocers, a word originally derived from organically modified ceramic, were originally developed for science and technology (e. g. for special surfaces like protective coatings, non stick surfaces, anti static coatings and non reflective coatings). In contrast to conventional composites, the ormocer matrix is not only organic but also inorganic. Therefore monomers are better embedded in the matrix what reduces the release of monomers.(373) Ormocers basically consist of three components organic and inorganic portions and the polysiloxanes. The proportions of those components can affect the mechanical, thermal and optical qualities of the material: 1.The organic polymers influence the polarity, the ability to cross link, hardness and optical behaviour. 2.The glass and ceramic components (inorganic constituents) are responsible for thermal expansion and chemical stability. 3.The polysiloxanes influence the elasticity, interface properties and processing. 4.The inorganic components are bound to the organic polymers by multifunctional silane molecules. Disadvantages Of Commission Based Compensation Scenario 1: Commission Based Compensation A commission based approach to employee compensation has its pros and cons from the standpoint of the firm. Let us look at the advantages. Reduces fixed costs: As mentioned in the Wall Street Letter (2003), one of the main advantages of a commission based salary is that it helps to reduce fixed costs. Fixed costs cover the basic salaries of the sales personnel while the variable costs cover the commission. With a commission based salary structure, sales personnel will get a lower basic salary while more incentive is incorporated into their commission structure. Describe the changes and explain the various arguments made for and against the expansion of slavery. Who, if anyone, was arguing for abolition and who was defending the institution of slavery? Finally, in your opinion was their room for compromise on the issue of slavery that could have averted conflict? Why or why not? From as far back as history goes there has been slavery and the sad fact is that even today slavery is still part of society. In the 18th and 19th century the largest movement for abolishing slavery took place. Many notable men in history spoke out against slavery and helped to fuel the fire of the pro slavery groups. Benjamin Franklin said Slavery is such an atrocious debasement of human nature, that its very extirpation, if not performed with solicitous care, may sometimes open a source of serious evils. (Franklin, 1789) Thomas Jefferson once said, But, as it is, we have the wolf by the ear, and we can neither hold him, nor safely let him go. Justice is in one scale, and self preservation in the other. Unlike a drop of water which loses its identity when it joins the ocean, man does not lose his being in the society in which he lives. (B. R. Ambedkar). Ralph Waldo Ellison was born on March 1, 1914, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and named after journalist and poet Ralph Waldo Emerson. In his the novel, Invisible Man, the main character carries around a briefcase throughout the entire story. All of the possessions that he carries in that briefcase are reminders that he kept from experiences. If the Negro, or any other writer, is going to do what is expected of him, he s lost the battle before he takes the field. I suspect that all the agony that goes into writing is borne precisely because the writer longs for acceptance but it must be acceptance on his own terms. Ralph Ellison. The period of the novel takes place around The Great Depression the worst economic crisis in the country s history, which left a permanent scar on American society and culture, causing millions of people to suffer and experience joblessness, and homelessness, for nearly a decade. Machiavelli’S The Prince Was Written During The Early Years Machiavelli s The Prince was written during the early years of the sixteenth century and was one of the most profound and controversial pieces of literature to emerge from the Renaissance. The political treatise was written for Lorenzo de Medici in hopes that he would use the principles taught in it to rule in Italy. Machiavelli planned for the piece of literature to impress Medici and hopefully persuade him to give Machiavelli a position within the Italian government, a position that he longed to go back to. The Medici family ultimately never implemented any of Machiavelli s recommendations, but one could find examples of famous rulers from the past that exemplify Machiavelli s ideal ruler. The Prince is a timeless piece of literature... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the very least, one could say that the books influence spread much farther than the author intended or even expected to. According to Machiavelli, there are four main ways that a prince is able to come to power. The first way to achieve power is through prowess (personal skill and ability). The second way is through fortune, which means good luck. The third way is through corruption; examples would be to attain power through a rebellion, plot, or assassination. The fourth and last way is constitutional, meaning to attain power by support from either the nobles or commoners. The most important comparison to be made between these four ways is between prowess and fortune. Attaining a state through prowess is clearly going to be more difficult than profiting from sheer good fortune, however; a prince that is blessed with prowess is more likely to hold a strong foundation on his rule, whereas a man with fortune is erratic and unpredictable which potentially leads to a prince s overthrow just as it had to his rise. That being said, preserving a prince s power is far easier when said prince attained power through his own cleverness. Being that the preservation of power is essential to Machiavelli, he determines that prowess is the better of the two routes for becoming a prince. Another similarity can be made amongst the criminal and constitutional methods of attaining control. The main ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Surprisingly to me I couldn t find too many historical inaccuracies in this movie. The settings of scenes match up well with 1800s France and all of the architecture is generally similar to French architecture of the time period. Where I found the most inaccuracies was in the clothes that the characters wore. Doing a little research on the fashion of the 1800s, specifically 1815 1844 when the story takes place, I found that the style of clothes that the characters wear would be nearly half a century old, the clothes worn in the film being more reminiscent to late 1700s fashion. Not to mention the total negation of hats in the film which were a staple of men s fashion throughout the 1800s. But the most glaring inaccuracy, concerning fashion of the time, are the clothes that are worn by the Count of Monte Cristo himself, Edmond DantГЁs. In what I assume to be an artistic design choice to make the count seem more regal or foreign, as he tries to appear as if he s not from France, only comes off as odd and off putting for the time period. Another complaint against the Warren Court was that it engaged in judicial activism, meaning the intent of the court s decisions went beyond settling disputes between particular parties and into the arena of law making. Racial desegregation and the reapportionment of voting districts are examples of areas in which the court s mandates affected not just the parties engaged in the suit, but literally every American. The texts, High incomes don t bring you Happiness and You can buy Happiness, if it s an Experience , completes the idea that monetary value does not bring true joy. • 51. International Response To The Rwandan Genocide In The 20th... Rwandan Genocide Throughout the 20th century, numerous acts of genocides have attempted to bring the complete elimination and devastation of large groups of people originating from various particular ethnicities. With these genocides occurring in many regions of the world, the perpetrators often organizing such crimes, have historically been larger and more powerful than the victims themselves. Often being the government and its military forces. However, the lack of international response associated with these genocides, further contributed to the devastating outcomes. On April 6,1994, the fastest killing spree of the century took place in Rwanda against the Tutsi minority population. With many warning signs having already been proclaimed prior to the start of the Rwandan genocide, I believe that with international interference, this bloodshed could have ultimately been prevented. Rwanda is a country located in Central Eastern Africa, with an extensive history of colonization, after Belgium attained control in 1924. Belgium s rule however also marked the beginning of a lengthy ethnic rivalry between the Hutu and the Tutsi people. Belgium favored the Tutsi the minority at 14 percent of the population over the Hutu, the majority at 85 percent, simply because the Tutsis were more resembling of the Europeans. Colonial policy helped to intensify bipolar differentiation between Tutsi and Hutu, by inscribing ethnic identification on identity cards, by relegating the vast majority of Hutu to particularly onerous forms of forced cultivation and corvee, and by actively favoring Tutsi in access to administrative posts, education, and jobs in the modern sector, (Newbury, 12). Belgium s control fueled the Hutu s resentment towards the Tutsis because the Tutsis received superior treatment for decades. Thus, when Rwanda finally acquired independence in 1962, the Hutus fought for control over the government, highlighting the first warning sign of the genocide to come. Many Tutsis were killed afterwards, while many others fled to neighboring countries to escape the violence. The primary feature of this behaviour pattern is a certain state of organized conflict that is engaged in between two or more separate social entities. Typically speaking, war becomes very intertwined with the economy and many wars are partially or entirely based on economic reasons such as the American Civil War. In some cases war has stimulated a country s economy for example World War II is often credited with bringing America out of the Great Depression but in many cases, such as the wars of Louis XIV, the Franco Prussian War, and World War I , warfare serves only to damage the economy of the countries involved. For example, Russia s involvement in World War I took such a toll on the Russian economy that it almost collapsed and greatly contributed to the start of the Russian Revolution of 1917.
