What is Academic Feedback? What does it
entail? How does it look and sound like?
Turn the the person next to you and share what you think this is.
Academic Feedback
This indicator focuses on how teachers respond to
students’ comments and questions. The descriptors
address the quality of the feedback in supporting
student learning as opposed to feedback that only
informs students of the accurateness of their responses.
Additionally, these descriptors address how a teacher
uses student feedback to make adjustments in
instruction.
On the TAP Rubric, Find the
Indicator “AF”.
1. Unpack the Descriptors (groups
1-4).
1. Oral and written feedback is
mostly academically focused,
frequent, and mostly high quality.
2. Feedback is sometimes given
during guided practice and
homework review.
3. The teacher circulates during
instructional activities to support
engagement and monitor student
work.
4. Feedback from students is
sometimes used to monitor and
adjust instruction.

lesson? “How were these adjustments helpful to you
or your peers during the lesson?”
