What I am covering
• User starts at OPAC (in his/her account), then
pays using card via external payment provider,
and the account is updated on ILS and the
finance system is updated
• Not payment via self-service machines
• We are not live yet with Alma/Primo
• But we have run this with Talis since 2010

It is effective
• With minimal publicity at first (to avoid
problems), we went from 15% of fines paid
online to over 60% in 2013
• It made real savings in staff time to handle cash

Link in Primo
• This links from fines+charges in Primo to the
Alma integration profile
• Ex Libris give you the link details
• Edited in the Back Office code tables
• There is a parameter to indicate if the link comes
from Primo Staging – allowing this to be tested
on Staging against live Alma without it being in
Primo Production

Alma Integration Profile
• Once user is redirected to Alma, the integration
profile is used to pass appropriate parameters
to payment provider
• Note: end user never sees Alma – it is all done via
redirects and opens in a new window/tab
• Parameters are decided in conjunction with
payment provider and Ex Libris
