William Blake (1757-1827) was an English poet and artist. He developed a vivid imagination as a child and had visions. At age 11, he began studying art and printing. Blake published his first book of poems in 1776 and is best known for his collections Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience. One of his most famous poems is "The Tyger," which questions the nature of God in creating both beauty and danger in the world.
