Mark Twain was a famous American writer born in 1835 in Missouri. He grew up in the small town of Hannibal on the Mississippi River, which would inspire many of his later novels like "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" and "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn". After his father's death, the 12-year old Twain had to leave school to work, but continued educating himself. He later became a steamboat pilot and began writing articles. Some of his most famous works like "The Prince and the Pauper" poked fun at social classes and prejudices. Twain's books became very popular both in America and Russia.
