Larvik
Bøkkerfjellet
In 1851, fire guards were placed on Bøkkerfjellet.
From there they had a good view over the city, and
they could warn the inhabitants in case of fire by
firing the cannons. In 1902, three shots were fired
from cannons at Bøkkerfjellet. A big fire, which is
one of the worst in the history of Larvik, let the area,
Bøkelia, in ruins.
This is where Larvik is located in Norway

                                  Larvik
The coastline of Larvik

Larvik has a great coastline, with a lot of opportunities of travelling
to other countries by boat. Larvik has a ferry named Superspeed 2,
which has connection to Denmark. It’s owned by Color Line.
We also have a lot of container shipping to other countries. The
nature in Larvik is fantastic. Larvik is surrounded by beautiful nature.
Superspeed 2
Mølen
Mølen is a moraine from the ice
age. Here we can find heaps of
stones, that was made during the
ice age. Mølen is 300-400 meters
    wide.
At Mølen you can see big and
small rock piles. The piles are
viking graves and therefor it is
illegal to move or remove rocks
    from the piles.

You can also discover over 300
    different bird types there.
Mølen

Our Harbor
• This is our new relaxing area in Larvik. In our harbor we have the Wave
(culture center) and two lovely restaurants. Lately the harbor has been
rebuilt from a boat terminal to a park where young and old people can
enjoy themselves. Here you can find an area with skateramps, volleyball
courts and beach handball courts. This is also a perfect place to have your
boat, take a swim or just relax.
Lardal Ski Center
Only a 45 minutes drive from Larvik, there is a nice place to go
skiing and relax. In the summer you can bike down these hills.
Kaupang
              The Vikings

Kaupang was the first known Norwegian trading outpost. It was
founded in 780s, and it is the first Norwegian city. Kaupang had
connection to Europe.Kaupang is only 7 kilometers east of Larvik.
Here scientists have discovered a lot of graves, jewelleries, weapons
and other viking treasures. Now it’s built a museum there. Here you
can read the history of Kaupang and look at the exhibit of treasures.
During the summertime the tourists can take part in a real viking life.
How they lived, played and ate.
Thor Heyerdahl
• The famous adventurer and scientist
Thor Heyerdahl is from Larvik. Perhaps he
is most famous for his expeditions with
Ra 1 and 2, Tigris and Kon- Tiki.
• He wanted to prove how the first people
    arrived Polynesia from South-America. It
was the unchangeable wind that could
carry them over a the Pacific Ocean.
• They used a float made of a special type
of wood to sail with, the float was named
Kon-Tiki. They used 101 days from Callao,
    Peru to Polynesia.
• Thor Heyerdahl also did researching on
    Easter Island.
• After the big expeditions, Thor
    Heyerdahl retired.
Larvik is the home to the
world’s northern most
natural occurrence of
beech trees.

Champions League

                       Champions League is an
                       international tournament with the
                       best team in each European
country. Last year Larvik lost the
                       semi-final vs Viborg (Denmark).
Larvik is one of the favourite teams
                       togheter with Gyor and Valcea.
