The Vikings

Sweden is one of the homes to the Vikings.
The Vikings raided European countries as far
as the Caspian sea.
The vikings originated from; Sweden, Norway,
Denmark and Finland.
The Vikings lasted to about 700 AD to 1100
AD.
Vikings and Normans
William the conqueror , descendent of the
Vikings, became king of France and decided to
invade England, but this is about Sweden
so maybe some other time.
Then the Viking era had died out and there
were no more Vikings.
Sweden is up north with some other very cold
regions.
Swedish-Dano War
In the 16th century, Gustav Vasa fought for an
independent Sweden crushing an attempt to
restore the Kalmar Union (Finland,Sweden,
Denmark,Norway)
Sweden and Finland defeated Russia,
Denmark and Poland in the war with no more
than 1 million people left.
Swedish food and cuisine
Because of Swedens large north-south
expansion there has always been regional
differences in Swedens cuisine.
Julmust is a drink that came around in 1910 to
be sold for Christmas.
It is a non alcoholic soda only sold on
Christmas time.
Swedish Music and Culture
Sweden has an orchestra in Stockholm that
was established around 1900.
Singing in a choir in Sweden is a very popular
activity.
Each of Sweden’s 25 counties has one
symphony or chamber orchestra supported by
the county council.
IKEA
IKEA is one of the worlds biggest home
furniture companies.
IKEA began in 1943, in the small village of
Agunnaryd, Sweden.
Since then IKEA has grown into a multi million
Euro business.
About 76% of the population of Sweden belong
to the Church Of Sweden.
Due to immigration Sweden also has a
significant population.
There are as many as 500,000 Muslims living
in Sweden.
