Urbanization provides many benefits like higher population density, better infrastructure and services, and more opportunities. However, many Indian cities are facing challenges from unplanned growth, lack of basic amenities, poor infrastructure, and rising urban poverty. To develop sustainably, cities need good governance, funding, and to plan for factors like housing, transportation, employment, education and healthcare to create an interconnected urban system. Developing new cities and satellite towns can help ease pressure on existing large cities and promote inclusive growth.
