Most rock magazines’ mastheads
are covered by the main image. I
have applied this to my magazine
as it has been previously proven
to be successful. The font I’ve
chosen acts as a representation of
my chosen genre of rock. Its bold,
capitalised and has detailed
scratches within the letters,
which symbolises the age and
maturity of rock.
I chose the font -
Cooper Black on my left
hand third to connote
rock music's volume.
However, I will change
the white the colour to
yellow so that will not
blend with my models'
top. Also, a yellow
version of this will fit
with my chosen colour
scheme.
I will place a black banner on
the bottom of the page so that
the text will be easier to read.
A image of AMPS will be
suitable here, instead of
leaving an empty space.
The text on this page is too
ordered and uniform to
represent rock music.
Therefore I will change the
positioning of my pull out
quote.
The name of the rock band
'Acid Ruins' is difficult to read
so I will need to change its
colour or positioning.
My background
colour was
originally white.
However, it was
necessary that I
change it as it made
it difficult to read
the yellow text.

2. I change the background from
white a dark shade of green to
give this page a complete look.
The previously white
background created a lot of
empty spaces and did not link
to my chosen genre of music
at all.
Most Rock Sound magazines
have a pull quote in the
contents page, therefore I
apply this to this page as it
was successful to other
magazines and will give it
more of a complete look.
The layout on my
contents page is too
ordered therefore
does not properly
present my chosen
genre of rock.
The subheadings here do
not stand out from the
background so I will
either change the colours
I've chosen or highlight
the text.
These large boxes makes this
page look too gothic, heavy
and rigid. .

3. There are a lot of
empty space in my
first copy. I will add a
drawing or a picture of
a rock band in the
space between the pull
out quote.
From researching other rock
magazines, I have come to find
that images are frequent in
double page spreads. As their
target audience are young
teenagers,, more pictures
would relate to them more.
The text here is easy to read
due to the black and white
contrast. However I will need to
add more images to lighten the
page from this heavy contrast.
There is no page number on
this double page spread and
there is not a continuous
colour theme.
I experimented with
a various fonts and
sizes in this pull out
quote to make it
more interactive and
eye-catching to give a
statement hence
more people will
relate to it.
