• "It was the best of times, it was the worst of
times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the
age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief,
it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the
season of Light, it was the season of
Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was
the winter of despair, we had everything
before us, we had nothing before us, we were
all going direct to Heaven, we were all going
direct the other way.”
Lucie helped his father recovered his health. They went
to London, and lived a new life there.
Lucie went to Paris and they saw Defarge and his wife
Therese knitting something. It was Therese’s hobby.
Mr. Lorry told Lucie that his father was still alive, and
living in Defarge’s wine shop.
From that moment, Darnay, Sydney, and Darnay’s
lawyer fell in love with Lucie.
After five years, Darnay was accused of treason.
Sydney Carton helped him.
On the other hand, Charles Darnay renounced his
properties as well as his name. He went to London.
Back to Paris, Marquis Evremonde, uncle of Darnay, roamed
around. He accidentally killed a child but did not feel sorry about it.
Carton confessed his feelings to Lucie, but he did mot demand for
her love. He promised that he will do everything for her love’s love.
Charles proposed to Lucie and they got
married. They had a daughter named
Lucie.
Darnay needed to save his friend in Paris so he went back to Paris.
Unfortunately, he was imprisoned because of being an aristocrat.
The Defarge family was the mastermind of the revolution. They
attacked the aristocrats, and the La Bastille.
Because of oppression, poor people held a
revolution against aristocrats.
Lucie lamented about it, and because Carton loved her so much, he
thought of an idea.
When he went back to London, he was imprisoned again in Paris.
There, he was executed and sentenced to death through the method
of guillotine.
Darnay gained freedom for a while after Dr.
Manette saved him.
Carton died in the end of the
story.
Carton, a resemblance of Darnay, saved
Darnay’s life for the sake of Lucie’s
happiness.
